"screamo" or what i like to simply just call emo, is hardcore/punk music which is supposed to be intense with a live electric band. you take away a lot of that, if not all when you strip it down to some douche in a cardigan screaming over plucked acoustic chords. what difference does that have to any acoustic music besides the (most likely) annoying vocals?
You know why people call some things emo and other things screamo?

Because **** like Orchid and Jeromes Dream and Neil Perry etc. etc. etc. etc. doesn't sound like **** like Evergreen and Chune and what not.

It's called screamo so that people who are looking for more music in that vein can find more music in that vein.

You know, like how people don't just call emo hardcore? (because a lot of it doesn't sound like hardcore anymore, and go figure same goes for a lot of screamo pertaining to emo).

Or like punk rock as opposed to folk rock? Or thrash metal as opposed to power metal?

Stop trying so hard to prove how knowledgeable you are because you're arguing the semantics of something nobody cares about.

flesh 02-01-2010 04:29 PM

i think the majority of us in this forum agreed about 3 or 4 years ago to just collectively call it "emo". hence why this is the emo community thread and not the emo/screamo thread anymore.

christsimpson 02-01-2010 04:46 PM
what the **** is rogue folk?!?!?!
you might know it as folk punk?

Cool story bro, argue about something stupid some more.

flesh 02-01-2010 04:58 PM

you brought it up

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 05:12 PM

What? You started the argument with indietrash. I was just pointing out how fucking stupid said argument is.

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 05:17 PM

Jesus Christ, you and indietrash are two of the slowest people I have ever come across on the internet. I don't even get it.

NortherlyNanook 02-01-2010 05:53 PM

idk i just call it SKRAMZ

accoustic screamo sounds pretty bad though

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 05:56 PM

It def does, but it's not a bad description by any means.

Die Emperor! Die! is one of the worst skramz bands I've ever heard.

iamrockzorz 02-01-2010 06:06 PM
is that supposed to mean that I have bad music taste or something? what?
Hahaha no. That's subjectivity my friend. But it used to be very high. All I've been listening to lately is that lo-fi hardcore **** though.

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 06:10 PM

Are you listening to it because it's lo-fi, or because it's good?

I never understood kids who listen to things exclusively for poor production (though I do like lo-fi production).

RetiredAt21 02-01-2010 06:25 PM

Head on a Stick ftw.

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 06:31 PM

Word.

Als, I've seriously been listening to I, Robot for repeat for like an hour now.

iamrockzorz 02-01-2010 06:36 PM

Because it's good. It just happens to be lo-fi. But the style is the way that I like hardcore to be. It's fast, abrasive, and full of schizophrenic vocals

ie. Aerosols, Drunkdriver, Lotus ****er, Nomos

There is a ton of unique **** going on in the scene too

RetiredAt21 02-01-2010 06:39 PM

Idk how all this wannabe retro stuff is unique.

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 06:42 PM

I can dig it.

RetiredAt21 02-01-2010 06:44 PM

I mean, I like some of it but it's far from unique.

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 06:46 PM

IDK, he said some of it, and didn't say what bands he'd call unique, so I have no clue yet.

iamrockzorz 02-01-2010 06:47 PM

Drunkdriver is pretty unique. Lotus ****er is a dc band and their new lp rips. I mean it plays off that early japanese Gauze style, but it's riffier. Aerosols I wouldn't say are "unique" but they're pretty ****ing good hardcore. At it's worst, it's just a more aesthetically pleasing genre to me than most other types of hardcore. It's more aggressive. It's more explosive.

Mute Print 02-01-2010 06:48 PM

Drunkdriver was pretty wild when I saw them live.

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 06:48 PM

I just like punky hardcore or emo, none of that (well not much of) tuffguy bullshit for me.

iamrockzorz 02-01-2010 06:51 PM

I wouldn't call this stuf tuffguy hardcore. That's why I like it. It's ****ed up and violent, but doesn't rely on you lifting weights. And you can't ****ing hardcore dance to it

iamrockzorz 02-01-2010 06:55 PM

http://icoulddietomorrow.blogspot.com/2009/08/leather-demo.html

Bands like this are just so kick ***

witchxrapist 02-01-2010 08:34 PM

no no no, i was just saying what i'm into and just spouting that i hate xtuffx ****

RetiredAt21 02-01-2010 09:17 PM

I don't hate all tough-guy stuff but most is pretty lame.

Iluvatar 02-01-2010 11:39 PM

wtf ppl kathy copolla is hot and drew does NOT look like a girl. he is ****ing awesome and sounds like a daemon

witchxrapist 02-02-2010 01:54 AM

kathy is not hot

saggy tits are saggy

obvious lesbian is obvious

drew's vocals are so ****ing raw, it's awesome

cobert 02-02-2010 02:59 AM

kathy looks like jodie foster

whiteminority 02-02-2010 06:16 AM

what is it that you guys call xtuffx or whatever? are you basing if off the sound or the demographic of fans?

because in pure sound Harm's Way is way ****ing more tough guy than any pussy faux tough guy NYHC rip off **** that most people seem to use that label on.

Aaron 02-02-2010 06:33 AM

Most music is ****. I have to listen to at least three songs playing at the one time to feel engaged.

Aaron 02-02-2010 06:47 AM
Canada weed makes me want to move up norf.
Northern Hyperblast.

iamrockzorz 02-02-2010 06:48 AM

Sound + Demographic + Fans

Harm's way is pretty lame. Demo was good. I really (subjectively) just don't like metal in my hardcore

christsimpson 02-02-2010 07:15 AM

were you guys into Castevet? the album is in any event up on http://thatspunk.net/blog/2010/02/castevet-summer-fences/ now.

Have you heard of Make Me, I feel like they'd be right up your alley.

christsimpson 02-02-2010 09:05 AM

thanks for the tip.

HighandDriving 02-02-2010 09:08 AM

They're pretty awesome, like a harsher (screamed and soft voxs) and better version of Snowing.

Iluvatar 02-02-2010 10:22 AM

Make Me rule

HighandDriving 02-02-2010 10:49 AM

Sucks they only have like 6 songs.

cbmartinez 02-02-2010 11:54 AM
