Your musical compatibility with zxlkho is Low Music you have in common includes Neurosis, Buckethead, The Tallest Man on Earth, Alcest and Ulver. lol Your musical compatibility with rasputinarian is Super Music you have in common includes Weekend Nachos, Hatred Surge, Punch, Iron Lung and Wormrot. obviously best bros |
"Your musical compatibility with zxlkho is SUPER
Music you have in common includes Agalloch, Anathema, Death, Alcest and Iced Earth." "Your musical compatibility with rasputinarian is VERY HIGH Music you have in common includes Woods of Desolation, Immolation, Ash Borer, Peste Noire and Drudkh" I have more compatibility with zxlkho, but the difference is not very great. And Alcest was fun for a while, but got old fast. |
I'm a BIG Alcest fan. Écailles de Lune was absolutely fantastic, one of my favorites from 2010.
|
Ehh, I dig Neige's vocals, and the album is pretty good, but maybe I just got a bit of an overkill from all the post-black metal bands that all sound exactly the same.
|
I actually haven't heard very many other bands that sound like that. What other post-black metal bands are you speaking of?
|
Lantlôs (.neon is pretty good)
Hypomanie (generic) Deafheaven (they have some cool stuff, but I can't listen to them too often) Les Discrets (they're absolute shit, don't bother) Year of No Light (YoNL is actually fucking great, especially Ausserwelt) Okay, maybe I haven't really even heard that much bands playing that style. Still, I've kind of grown tired of most of these bands. |
That's understandable. Given the characteristics of the genre it's easy to see that the bands can be very similar. I'll definitely check a few of those bands out, though.
|
Year of No Light black metal? What?
|
Idk, it shares some characteristics with some of those post-black metal bands.
At the very least, if someone tells me they like Altar of Plagues, Ash Borer or Sun of the Blind, I'll recommend them YoNL (if they haven't already heard of the band). |

But they are good, so fuck it. I'll let you call them post black metal, haha. |

Yeah, I'm not good with genres, lol, so sometimes I'll lump bands together under one moniker for convenience or because I get a similar vibe off the music. They're not really similar to AoP, but I think most people who dig AoP will like YoNL. Plus, the two bands are releasing a split later this year. |
Yeah, that split is going to rule.
|
First things first: can't wait for the new AoP full-length to come out (or leak).

I'm somewhat ashamed of 17 being on there. And i've definitely outgrown 14 to some degree. |

I don't get why people are ashamed of appreciating the aesthetic appeal of a certain type of music. Even if you don't particularly like it anymore, I'm sure there are some aspects of the music that you can still appreciate, even though it might not be the kind of thing you're really into anymore.
|
probably just ashamed since they feel like they've 'grown out of it' or something. i feel that way with a lot stuff i used to listen to. although, you're right, it is impossible to not find some enjoyment from something you used to listen to a lot in the past.

well i can't stand tool anymore and i used to love them
