The Jungler 02-22-2007 10:30 AM

Cloud Cult - Advice From the Happy Hippopotamus
Arcade Fire - Demos 2001

Cloud Cult is good and fairly easy to review. Arcade Fire is not nearly as good as their later stuff but alright just the same.

Bukowski 02-22-2007 01:35 PM

Jackwacker - Things from Inside Your Body

This is some really trashy, schizo 90s no wave that sounds like it was recorded on a cheap tape recorder in a house garage. It's really great. Like a more lo-fi Lightning Bolt.

Boilermaker 02-22-2007 01:39 PM

Sounds cool, I'll look into that.

The Wipers - Youth of America

Bukowski 02-22-2007 01:44 PM

Wipers, nice one.

It took me like 2 weeks of having Jackwacker on my soulseek wishlist before I found it. I'm gonna upload it to the mailing list soon, so you can check it then.

Boilermaker 02-22-2007 01:48 PM

Groovey. Listened to some songs, sounds interesting.

Me likes.

Zebra 02-22-2007 06:11 PM

Ween - Pure Guava

Pumpin 4 the Man is the best song to sing a long to.

bleep_bloop 02-22-2007 06:15 PM

Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In A Digital Urn

Kage 02-22-2007 06:15 PM

Karp sounds like a winner.

bleep_bloop 02-22-2007 06:18 PM

indeed

asdf 02-22-2007 06:46 PM

Sun Ra - Super-Sonic Jazz

Since it's earlier Sun Ra it's not all that weird. It's pretty nice, actually.

Montana 02-22-2007 06:46 PM

Devendra Banhart - Cripple Crow
I knowingly listened to him for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I remember hearing "Chinese Children" on the radio probably six months or more ago and I really liked it but never could figure out who sang it.
Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In A Digital Urn
That's a good one. I liked the video for Easy/Lucky/Free, too.

bleep_bloop 02-22-2007 06:55 PM

yeah its a good one mos def, i cant figure out why people hate him so much.

pulseczar 02-22-2007 07:09 PM

King Crimson - Red
Del tha Funkee Homosapien - Both Sides of the Brain

The Jungler 02-22-2007 08:14 PM
Bright Eyes - Digital Ash In A Digital Urn
Worst Bright Eyes CD I own, but Easy/Lucky/Free is an amazing song.

Drive Like Jehu- Yank Crime
Just found out this is fully streamable on last.fm. Great stuff.

YDload 02-22-2007 08:46 PM

Zmev 02-22-2007 11:17 PM

Maudlin of the Well - Bath

This is pretty good.

Anxious 02-22-2007 11:47 PM

That sounds to good to be true.

Red House Painters - Down Colorful Hill

There should be a law stating that you can only listen to this at night and through headphones.

Iai 02-23-2007 12:36 AM

I'm kind of not sure what to make of the Panda Bear. It's good, but it's obvious that he's inviting unflattering Pet Sounds comparisons, which is kind of a dumb move.

Shulman - In Search Of A Meaningful Moment is the best non-Shpongle psytrance I've found so far. Wonderful record.

Pretty over self-indulgent, but it's still one of my favorites so far this year.

I downloaded this album called Ou Não by Walter Franco a couple days ago, finally dug into that today. Guy can emote. His voice on the opening track makes me think of Nikki Sudden, all nasally pitched and howling. It's all acoustic though. If you like all that New Weird American freak folk bullshit, you should probably check it out.

Eliminator 02-23-2007 05:27 AM

i think being compared to the beach boys is probably better than being compared to something that sucks

Sepstrup 02-23-2007 06:05 AM

Beck has failed to wow me yet. Sea Change is meh and Odelay is alright.

I'm thinking that Midnite Vultures might be where it's at (lol pun). "Sexx Laws" is awesome. I'll try that album.

Bartender 02-23-2007 06:30 AM

Unfortunately Midnite Vultures is terrible. "Sexx Laws" is fantastic, but it's pretty much the only good thing on the album.

ATM 02-23-2007 07:23 AM

Mellow Gold is cool.

br3ad_man 02-23-2007 08:10 AM

Sea Change is the only Beck album I really got into

pulseczar 02-23-2007 08:13 AM

Midnite Vultures is one of his best.

Kage 02-23-2007 08:32 AM

King Crimson - The Power To Believe

Zebra 02-23-2007 09:34 AM

Midnite Vultures is amazing.

The Jungler 02-23-2007 09:37 AM

Sea Change is probably my favorite. I still need Midnite Vultures though.

Lily Allen - Alright, Still

Such a fun album.
