Pretty sick. Um..the M-255 has reveresed neck, floyd rose tremelo system, 24 frets (abalone inlays) if that's what you ment by what's in it. I have Seymour Duncan pickups installed. |
Hey Hrothgar..or Fltyingpaul_83...what kinda axe u guys jammin on?.....amps too....anything sweet?...any good pedals? I got stock Dunlop Crybaby, mxr Wylde Overdrive(good if u have a good amp w/ good crunch, will give u awesoem tone and sustain on either PU)
Nope. I have a sh*t setup. I have a selfmade Flying V and an old peavey head with some random cab. or distorion I use a Ds-1 Distortion pedal. Nothing special, or even average. Has anyone else gotten the september issue of Guitar world. In the article The Producers it says this: How long can you go? Eric Rachel Expains the nuts and bolts of getting good bass tone in your mix. When metallica's ..and justice for all was released in the summer of 1988, listeners who were spinning the disc(or double-vinyl album) for the first time were often heard muttering these two things;"man these songs are, like, really long," and "Did they even bother recording Jason newsted for this thing? I can't hear any Bass guitar!" The first observation, while true, simply reflected the fact that James Hetfield and co. had deliberately chosen to push the limits of the chromatic riff as far as they possibly could. The second, however, raised an issue with much more far-reaching implications: When you've recorded your guitars to sound as heavy as possible, is there any way in heaven or hell to make the bass audible? It's a puzzler that haunts producers of extreme metal to this very day, and one that producer eric rachel has started to unravel. |
Thats an interesting point...something i tend to think is that is was the first album w/ out Cliff, who was almost always heard. I really think it has a lot to do w/ the bassist specifically. Ya know like Korn, or so many of these current bands that have 5-strings goin that are pretty present. I think it really all depends. BTW, i plan of installing a Floyd Rose whammy system on my stripped down Strat. and i was wondering how to go about it. since i'll have to have it routered and what not. Rcok on!!!!

i'm srry, ROCK ON!!! and keep truckin, keep it comin, headbangers.

I say YOU install on your own. It's cool knowing that you made your guitar better, not some guy in the back of your local guitar store. Just don't fu*k up. |
Mine came with the Floyd Rose already installed, so I don't know how to go about installing one
|
Do either of u know any guys who have done it?...I may just do that.....ya know for the fun and to save like 50 or 80 bux payin a guy....any help?..or know where i could like get some assistance or instruction.

I think if you go here, they'll show you??? I'm not quite sure. http://www.floydrose.com/instructions.html

Psh. Ways to make bass audible? It should be audible anyway, in Justice, if it was mixed right. Either way, it all depends on the EQ. Some say lots of mids, will help it cut through, as with bass driven guitars, they leave more in the mid and treble ranges, which the bass can exploit. With the example of Korn, Fieldy is audible because of his EQ too. He cuts out all the mids, and boosts bass and treble, and combined with his 'rotating bitchslap' technique, you hear his characteristic click which he uses to be heard among the downtuned 7 strings.

:smash: indeed.

I think Metallica should remaster all their albums especially KEA and AJFA. They should do what Dave Mustaine did with his back catalogue
|
Why? KEA has bad production values? Sure. That's how KEA should be. AJFA has no bass? Sure. Put bass in, it stops being the same ol' AJFA. It could be cool, but I don't think they should replace the ones on general sale with remastered ones. Why not remaster St Anger with new drums while you're at it...?
:smash: |
They don't really need remastering IMO. Metallica remastered them in 1989 didn't they?
|
hey i was wondering, whos seen the Mtv napster Ad in 2000 or so with Lars in it?
|
I think the production is fine in all of the albums. There's no need for re-production. The albums with the more raw production, are pretty much raw albums.

Hmmm... |
I'm doing Sweet Amber for the cover comptetition (hopefully), and the snare sound actually makes a difference. The tin can sound I almost like better.

There's a new one? I am way out of the Metallica circle. |

They are working on one, that's all we know. |
They are working on one, that's all we know.
Oh ok, so it's not like there's a title out or anything. Good. I was beginning to feel really out of the loop, there. |
To Gocaps:What kind of guita do you have? and Have you heard dyers eve live? Because you said live it's pretty incredible.
A Jackson and an Epiphone SG. I mostly use the SG
That is just plain sad. I mean there not even that similar. And more imoportantly were talking about a riff by METALLICA!!!....justa outa curiosity, can either of u guys play much of one?...like the long intricate clena intro>? or the classic Hammett solo at the end? i play the better part of it myself.
I can play most of that song perfectly. (Most) I have sanitarium nailed, most of puppets (which you guys will hear cuz i'm submitting it. I'll tell you right now the main solo isn't perfect and the middle one is me improving, it's on purpose tho)
Oh ok, so it's not like there's a title out or anything. Good. wow it's been 3 pages and 8 hours since I last posted... no one's posted since???
So Metallica. What album and DVD do people want next? I want ReLoad and then Cliff Em' All |
I'm thinking about buying Cliff Em' All, or actually any Metallica DVD for that matter. I have none.
|
Is that when people were arguing who is more technical and such?
Nah, someone came in ages ago and was asking who's better Hammett or Mustaine. ;) I want Cliff 'em All, being in Australia though, it's not so easy :( gocaps, I can't believe you don't have ReLoad? |
I don't have it, but I want it. To be honest I really like what I've heard and I want to hear the rest. I don't have anything post black except S&M. I have a few various songs from YSI or friends, but none of the cds
Cliff 'Em All is probably online somewhere. Hrothgar, get Live Sh*t Binge and Purge. It's the best (3 Cd's, 2 DVD's) |

Hmmm I guess that's what I'll have to get at Best Buy next time I stop by. |
