exactly |
I can. I can play all rhythm and lead.
How long have you been playing guitar? |
About a year now. About 7 minutes, I start getting sloppy. I haven't fine tuned that part yet :\
|
I happen to be, as well as a Metallica and Dream Theater fan, to a lesser extent a Sum 41 fan.
But don't kill me yet. Just wanted to ask if anybody else here thought Sum 41's "The Bitter End" was a complete ripoff of both "Throught The Never" and "Battery"? I certainly do, and have done since the first time I heard the song. Here's a particularly funny (and yet frighteningly accurate) site for you all: http://www.sum-ripoff.tk/ |
Oh yeah I've been to that site, but even before I went there I heard that song and I thought it was a rip-off of battery. The solos sound very alike if I can remember correctly.
EDIT: WOW!! What a rip-off of battery!! |
Because Metallica's all about money?
On a serious note, especially to gocaps, or any other guitarists here, can you guys play Orion? I can play it completely (I can do parts of the solos, but all rhythm), just wondering if anyone else can?
I can play the first few minutes of it. I've looked through several tabs, never memorized it but I can play along if I'm listening to it.
EDIT: WOW!! What a rip-off of battery!!
TELL ME ABOUT IT!!! unbelievable
Anyone know why Metallica didn't play in Live 8.
I don't think this is the kind of cause that people would want heavy metal playing. They might have done it if it was for something else...
I'm so glad to see Metallica fans appreciate Megadeth (Especially gocaps).
(my name is joe) |
I'm so glad to see Metallica fans appreciate Megadeth (Especially gocaps).
Edit: It's Tuesday 5th of July here :p
Most of the regulars in here like and/or respect Megadeth. About the Sum41 thing, they've admitted countless times that they used some of there favorite songs by other bands in "Chuck". They talk about it like it's a tribute kinda. You gotta love those guys though, the Metallica Icon performance they did was outstanding. |
Yes, it's been said a lot.
The next thing you are doing is going to the store and buying Master of Puppets. Do not even BREATHE until you go buy it.
Would if I could, Joe. I'm saving for a new guitar. :upset: No cds until I have the guitar in my hands. |
To be truthfull I was always a metallica fan, about 1 month ago I bought Megadeth - A world needs a hero, just to see what the guys were all about... a week later I bought 5 more albums then the next day I bought youthanasia, one of those 5 albums was a double disk live album called ''rude awakening''
To be honest. I LOVE metallica, I LOVE megadeth but in all due respect as far as live goes Metallica have that really hard kick.. When mustain was singing i noticed alot of lazy singing, not even saying the words correctly... I also watched a video of them playing ''Peace sells'' on tv yesterday.. they just don't have the get up and go, the solos were good but they could never blow Hammett away... below I have stated reasons as to why I have chosen metallica as best live band.. Jaymez hetfield is probably one of the best frontmen in the history of metal... He can really get a crowd going and his onstage moves and humour amuse me. Kirk: He appears to be alot faster, his guitar sounds good all the time also (Down to the guys in the sound truck I know) Jaymes: Has a really awesome clean voice... my favourite vocalist.. Lars: I think he can do better drum solo's, hes more certainly a better drummer... BUT, this is a big BUT, I think megadeth would take the lead for more creativity in drumming, also better drumming in tracks.. He is just more skillfull at playing drums in a band. |

Ok, so what guitar you buying? I know some friends that are really interested in the Kirk guitars, but I've never actually tried one. To be honest I love my epiphone. The fretboard is great. However, the wiring is cheap so it won't be long before you need to get the cable jack reqired. Personally Fenders I don't really like. If you have the assets, Gibsons and PRSs are incredible. So back to Metallica, either get MOP or KEA. Then get the Justice album (technically, it's their best, since you're a guitarist)
Definatly. James is an amazing frontman. And he's also pretty fun to watch. It always seems like a better concert when the guys on stage are having fun, and James is always fooling around with the crowd and letting them sing and all. If you haven't seen Metallica (live, not DVD), you need to. |

It's pretty awesome and I've heard a lot of good things about Jackson guitars. I know what you mean about the Fenders; I have a sucky-ass Fender Squire. The neck needs to be re-adjusted, it's fretting in many different places and the pickups need serious work. So I figured, fuck it, I'll just get a better guitar. Metallica. Right. :thumb: I definately want to get Master of Puppets, I have the song on my mp3 player and I love it. I remember the first time I ever heard it; I wasn't sure it was Metallica until I heard Hetfield's voice. The guitar shit is great. The only thing I've heard off Justice is Blackened; good song. |

Honesty I think, letting the crowd sing practically ALL of the vocals on the R&M was pretty bad. |
dyers eve is awesome. i just listened to it this morning and after i heard the double bass drum line i can understand why people think lars copied and pated it in the track. its pretty fast. every time i hear it i just shake my head and think that i cant even move my fingers that fast. hell, i cant even think that fast!
what you reckon? did he copy and paste it, or can it be done? |

Only Blackened?! Everyone has heard "One!!" There are some great songs on there
what you reckon? did he copy and paste it, or can it be done?
Possibly for the album, since yes you can do that. But live it's pretty incredible |

To Gocaps:What kind of guita do you have? and Have you heard dyers eve live? Because you said live it's pretty incredible. |
I like ...And just for all, but the faint murmurs of JAson's bass piss the hell out of em. I find some of the songs to be a litle repetetive but Kirk's solos deliver throughout.

Check out these great songs off of ...AJFA And Justice For All One My favorite Metallica. Inspired by the Johnny Got His Gun, not by Venom's song Burried Alive. Harvester of Sorrow |
Hey Bros, its me again..talkin about guitars? Sweet...check it..i gotta a real fender strat w/ an EMG-81 in the bridge..ya know? the same lead PU as used by Kirk and James...yeah thats right..it sounds freakin bada**. Clean, it s sounds soooo good for intros like Sanitarium, or One, or like Fade to Black. Incredible! espeacially through my 80 watt Fender princeton chorus..w/ chorus of course.....the gain isn't too heavy, so i recently gotta a Line 6 Uber Metal dist. pedal. Rock ON!!!!
|
Btw, i just listened to that Sum-41 tune..and it defintely ripps off some Metallica...yeah, Through the Never, but the rest sounds to me like Damage Inc..not Battery..just what I'm hearing....ROCK ON!!!
|

Well now, yes, but I remember the last time the subject of Mustaine/Metallica came up everyone was flaming Megadeth, but no one had really heard any Megadeth as far as I knew, or maybe just the more common songs (i.e. Hangar etc.) I really love Metallica, they will always be Metal gods, but Megadeth is just as good in my opinion. |

Pfft Sum 41. I have this one friend who is totally in to Pop-Punk. Anyway, I was at his house and Metal Mania happened to be on, and they played Metallica's one and this dumbass tried to tell me that Metallica ripped off the Blink 182's Adam's Song riff. I had to explain to him that One, is a song about 16 years old. |

I agree |
this dumbass tried to tell me that Metallica ripped off the Blink 182's Adam's Song riff.
That is just plain sad. I mean there not even that similar. And more imoportantly were talking about a riff by METALLICA!!!....justa outa curiosity, can either of u guys play much of one?...like the long intricate clena intro>? or the classic Hammett solo at the end? i play the better part of it myself.

Is that when people were arguing who is more technical and such?
justa outa curiosity, can either of u guys play much of one?...like the long intricate clena intro>? or the classic Hammett solo at the end? i play the better part of it myself.
I can play basically the whole song but Hammett's shred solos at the end I have trouble with. |
Sweet, can u pull off any Hammett solos? like flawlessy? i can basically do the first 2 from Sanitarium and the First from Fade to Black....and technically the harmony in the mid-solo in MOP is Kirk..which i luv to play. First solo i learned honestly.

I can play the first 2 solos( not much of a lead player) and all of the rythm parts. |

Dude, I play an LTD M-255. In my opinion ESP makes the best guitars in the world. I don't use pedals though. I used to, but I sold my Metal Zone after I got an amp with an effects board. |
