It's a well known fact that the people who call C3PO gay are the people who want to sex him. http://www.buffalosoldier.net/Henry%20O.%20Flipper.gif <--- Me. |

I'm trying to create a list of songs that exemplify beauty. This is for a group presentation in my Humanities class, and I've chosen to do my section on modern beauty. I've got snippets from:
Dave Matthews Band - The Stone (string-led end section; 5:00-5:45) Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees (0-1:00) Death Cab for Cutie - Passenger Seat (0-:45) Radiohead - Sail to the Moon (0-1:00) Moby - Extreme Ways (0-:52) Radiohead - Pyramid Song (0-:35) Tori Amos - Silent All These Years (0-1:02) Radiohead - How to Disappear Completely (full; 5:56) There's a sort of logical progression here, really. For one thing, it shows that most people in modern music use a piano, strings, or both, to accomplish beauty, and shows the progression of the instruments' uses. "The Stone" has a very traditional sounding string section, humming along in classical fashion on a pleasant riff. "Extreme Ways" uses a string section to more resemble an alarm, though they are keeping particular tonality and adding musically to the song. "How to Disappear Completely" bends the use of the string section to its breaking point, playing lines that don't fit, climbing grossly and getting louder only to suddenly drop out and resolve, et cetera. The use of the piano is another thing I'll discuss, but I've bored you all enough already. I hope it goes well. |
The important people know of your dazzling beauty jess. Those who dont can figure out from my charming good looks that you must bear some family resemblence.
Butler is still my favourite loking mxer though. He's the sterotypical internet musician
Im a stereotypical internet musician eh. First time i read the thread in a while and i get called your fave looking mxer, awesome. ;) |
Hey! It's Butler again! I haven't seen you in ages. What's been going on?
|
Hey, am not so bad, i have a graphics exam tomorrow morning, oh joy, i get to go see finch and motion city soundtrack tomorrow too, should be fun.
Youself? |
I'm just sitting around, eating, listening to music, being an MX nerd, and going off to classes in two hours. What fun. Maybe I'll even play some KOTOR 2 later.
I have no concerts to attend anytime soon, but I do have a couple of presentations to do today. One is for Humanities, like I posted about above in a long and obscenely not-interesting post. The other is for Music Appreciation, and should be a piece of proverbial cake. |
Awesome :thumb:
Im going seeing Pennywise, and the Sterephonics soon too, it should be fun, but now, i have to go and pick up my little brothers from school. Cya shortly. |
Dammit, you get to go see all these cool shows, and I don't.
Well, have fun picking your brothers, and especially have fun seeing the 'Phonics, but I gotta get out of here myself. I'll be back later... much later, though. |

i'm trying to convince my band to cover madonna
|
Pink Floyd is amazing stuff.
Unfortunately, I've only got twelve minutes to cover my section, and this is the best I could come up with. I would also disagree on particular items of Radiohead's catalogue not being beautiful. The majority is sad and depressing, but there are some very beautiful songs/moments. Often disturbingly so, but that's the way it often is in modern music. |
i'm trying to convince my band to cover madonna
Wow. Good luck with that. /s****** |
