Anyone want some live Dead/Traffic/Spirit/Jazz is Dead/Who?
...I would. But I'm noticing you are offline. Congrats on the 3000 btw.

And that's a killer site Badmoon, thanks for the heads up. I'm suprised I haven't learned (or tried to) any of those songs...better start now. (I'd give you some rep but I gotta spread it first)

So tonight I'm teaching one of my students, and as he's packing up his guitar he's like "I just burnt a cool cd, it's got I'm Just a Kid and Sweet Home Alabama and other great guitar songs on it."
Someone please point out the error in that comment, I'm having trouble pinpointing why it sounds so odd.

Learn "My Favorite Things" and/or "Dawg's Bull". I could give you both songs if you ever need them.

Posting in this thread usually gets me rep

Agreed. I love playing it on my acoustic.

I can't stand "Angie"
That would definitely be the greatest job ever. My cousin works at a used CD store and he gets CD's for like $3
I'd love to work in a CD store. But all the ppl you see in CD stores where I live look like they've walked out of some sports store. It doesn't make sense...

Illmatic 02-08-2005 11:25 PM

I used to work in a record store.

Is it as good as you guys seem to think it is?

...yes.

Seafroggys 02-08-2005 11:58 PM

I'd rather work at an instrument store. That way you wouldn't have to deal with the rap and pop homeboys (cuts down at least some of the crap  )

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 02-09-2005 12:13 AM

Wow its Thickasabrick! :)

Where you been?

ArcLite 02-09-2005 03:02 AM

Anyone here a Peter Frampton fan? Just listened to Frampton Comes Alive which inspired me to bring him up in here. He's a hell of a guitarist and pretty decent somewriter. Any thoughts?

What an excellent statement. That song is damn near epic on the live album. One of the best listens ever.

ATM 02-09-2005 03:18 AM

You can't beat the talk box, either.

ArcLite 02-09-2005 03:20 AM

Yeah, I remember the first time I heard that and I didn't even think it was guitar. He uses effects a lot better than most guitarists.
It's at www.westvilleschool.com/Word/mwhiteaker

It should work, except for the background on the discography page; it's rainbow but I saved it wrong so it won't show up til I fix it tomorrow. Sorry that the page is a little boring in the looks department.
Hey, that's not that bad of a webpage. Good job :thumb:

 I'm lovin' the sweaty Ray Davies avatar woodstock .

Eh, anyway, would Black Sabbath be classed as classic rock?
I think that when they went into the seventies they were one of the best classic rock bands around, records like: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Sabotage and Vol. 4, shows their classic rock style of blues and heavy music.

But in all honesty, my theory is this:
As Sabbath moved on in time, their music got more and more complex and less about the raw agility and strength that was in their first three albums, especially on some of their proggier stuff, like, Technical Ecstacy and Never Say Die, which co-incidentally all my friends think are crap.
Coincidentally they are wrong.

Meh, I know I'm ranting, but I had a pretty rough day in school, people have no mindspan if it's not heavy metal anymore, you can't listen to jazz blues and acoustic stuff without sounding cool.

[/RANT]

Woodstock 02-09-2005 08:49 AM

Yes, Black Sabbath are definetly classic rock.

Anf for the rant, it's their fault if they want to be closed minded towards music. More for you.

IAJP 02-09-2005 09:09 AM

It's true,
I just can't hack people dissing Jazz, Blues and acoustic stuff, it pisses me off so much.

It also pisses me off that people just see me as someone who likes metal, when I have probbably the broadest musical tastes in my entire year.
Meh, ah well :)

I hate people who say I only listen to classic rock when I have a burned Allan Holdsworth cd in my cd player.

Oh yeah, I'm in webpage design. Finished my project already.

I offered you a debate on Dead vs. Allmans, but you passed it up. That was the last straw, and now 99% of you are one sided.

Kreator2112 02-09-2005 04:03 PM

i hardly listen to either but warren and garcia are talented
