I still think Permission to Land is still worthy of a listen from time to time.

Kyle 11-23-2005 01:38 PM

Love is only a feeling was a great song, love on the rocks with no ice was ok too. I don't really like them, butI take an interest into what they are doing.

Joe 11-23-2005 02:54 PM
It goes like this

That's how I play it and it sounds pretty dandy, on the record two guitars play the rhythm, but this sounds fine.
Yea, that works fine, sounds good. I'll tab up the easy way for two guitars (how I play it)

guitar one
guitar two

E----------------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------------
G------------------------------------------------------------2---------
D----4--2--0--------------4--2-0-----------4-2-0---------4-2--5-4-2-4--
A--2----------4p2---00--0--------4p2-00----------4p2-00-0--------------
E----------------------------------------3-----------------------------

E----------------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------------
G----------------------------------------------------------------------
D----4--5--4—-------------4--5-4-----------5-4-5---------4-5-7-5-4--4-
A--5---------5p4-----------------5p4-------------5p4---------------7---
E-------------------55--5------------55--3-----------55-5-------------

guitar one in the recorded version is the predominant guitar (in other words, play it when the other one is soloing)

the tab is all lined up so you can make it bigger on your comp if you want to. one thing i learned when recording this song is that timing is everything. it's really hard to do this solo if you don't practice it like tell and get the timing perfect.

That whole song is so easy :p

Joe 11-23-2005 03:15 PM
That whole song is so easy :p
Yea it really is. It's mostly easy power chords and not-too-bad solos

Stormrider 11-23-2005 03:17 PM
I suck at writing music. Anyway, Your best bet is Pinch harmonics + Turn up the chorus effect
Im not too good at writing music either but , I wrote this part of a song, dunno if it makes any sense though, I dunno enough theory, well barly if any. Better at making up individual riffs then whole songs obviously. Powertab helps me though.

EDIT: Sorry off subject...

It's a must if you are like me...I'm not the best at guitar but I know more
then most of my buddy's and I've been playing 1/3 as long as them.

Permission to land was so annoying! I rented it from the library and it was
awfull.

Did you all see this? http://www.metallica.com/index.asp?item=13501

Yes Ive started with what was said to start with first:The Major Scale. Going well so far, but learning theory is not the only thing Im doing right now. In other words, my progress is pretty slow.
I got this full 11-15 san francisco concert now. Man quality is unbelievable. I converted all flac files into mp3s. I can upload some songs if anyone wants, just say which ones, this was the set list:

Orion
Creeping Death
Wherever I May Roam
For Whom The Bell Tolls
The Unforgiven (AMAZING first time I hear it live. AMAZING)
Fuel
Sad But True
Nothing Else Matters
Master Of Puppets
One
Enter Sandman

:thumb:
Now Im actually going to sleep but I can upload em tomorrow.
Man, a post like this, definately is a reason to join this board.
First of all, a bit about myself(concerning tallica):
Metallica is the band that got me into metal and saved my soul from emptiness. My playing style is mostly influenced by Lars compared with other drummers i listen to.

My favourite albums are:
MoP
...And Justice for All
Metallica (aka black album)
Load (has some "touchy" songs)
St Anger (more aggressive style and quite okay for me. If just the drums would not sound that ugly... would be really nice with the drum sound in the black album)
S&M
Live ****

And second:
I will sell my soul to the person who sends me the show PepsiMetal uploaded.

Well i did a couple posts on metal guitar in the guitar forum.

My last one was a real crowd pleaser. It's called Heavy Metal guitar (goin solo) and it gives you a general view behind the background of how metal lead came to be and I also give you the 5 pentatonic box shapes and some info on how to use them.

Check it out, you might actually like it.

Oh Joe, you are the authority on FTB but the guitar one harmony is slightly off by a note. Not to nitpick or anything.

Joe 11-23-2005 08:00 PM

Cyberfret.com is pretty awesome.

which note?

Well, off of cyberfret, I got the form of the major and minor pentatonic, the major. the minor and a blues one. That part helped me lots.

Sry if Im anoying with this, but did you like the Iced Earth ?

Did you make that when you first joined? cause I loved that lesson1 it helped me so much. I used to have it bookmarked.

You should make another lesson
I love it. Great tone.

Green Red and Yellow :D

:upset: It's ok...

Yea, thrash is a very loose term. A lot of their songs can stretch and just barely be considered thrash.

I've been listening to a lot of Trivium and Children of Bodom because I'm going to see them soon. I've been listening to a hell of a lot of Sonata Arctica too, their amazing. Their cover of fade to black... :orgasm:
do you know any good metallica settings for the spider II?

Joe 11-23-2005 09:34 PM
do you know any good metallica settings for the spider II?
Actually, try going to the insane amp setting and turn up distortion all the way and then scoop it (bass 10 mid 0 treb 10) and it actually sounds good with this amp. I like it a lot. It's at my moms now so I can't really tell you any more because I don't remember but I'll check it out later

Britton 11-23-2005 09:35 PM

OMG! how old is that post?

SpiderII Metallica settings?....hmm...I play my friends spiderII and I just use the Metal channel and it sounds pretty good

Pretty close

It's a pretty old post.

Just play around with it. It's a great amp. There are a lot of presets that sound awesome. Play around with effects and such.

Britton 11-23-2005 09:39 PM

It's a fun amp to screw with. I was gonna get one for the longest time. But I couldn't get that warm tone I really like.

So I'm gonna get a VOX Valvetronix

The_Riddler 11-23-2005 10:33 PM
That's a bit harsh, isn't it? I thought it was a nicely produced album. You're right about Lars though. The drums do sound horrible.
I know this quote is from a day ago or so, and that is quite long ago since this forum moves fast within a topic.

No, I don't think it's harsh though. It was harsh on the ears though. There were no real standout songs on that album. It just seemed pretty cheap, the songs got really hard to listen to after 3 minutes. The only song I really enjoyed was Shoot me Again which also got tired halfway through.

Either way, not a good album in my opinion. Not trying to "mindlessly bash" an album, but I hope you understand what I am saying with both of my posts about it.
