Yeah when it comes to AC/DC, I don't think it's actually the singing that matters. It's the fact that they started making cheesy 80's music in the 80's. That's basically the only reason I prefer Bon Scott.

Bon Scott's voice seemed a lot more natural too. Didn't sound like he was forcing every last ounce of life out of his vocal chords ala Brian Johnson.

I find with Scott, AC/DC was hard blues rock. When he died, Johnson kept the hard rock style, but lost the blues edge.

Yeah and during the 80's some of their material had a slight NWOBHM feel which is alright but I prefer the earlier Bon Scott stuff as it gets the adrenaline pumping and the live stuff is just so raw and powerful with a zero cheese factor. :cool:

when did they ever have a NWOBHM feel? just wondering, not that its bad or anything. maybe name some songs that have the sound?

I read it in a book somewhere and whilst listening to , maybe im bluffing a bit but a few NWOBHM bands have ripped off their material and are heavily influenced by their music. AC/DC's 80's music is not strictly part of the movement as they started before it and were obviously influenced by blues artists such as Chuck Berry and so forth but as well as blues perhaps they were also influenced by NWOBHM. Songs such as Heatseeker.

Been listening to a fair amount of Deep Purple recently, got Perihilion on DVD for 3.50 last night from eBay, anyone else got this?

Really enjoying Who do we think we are, got that from the library. Don't care so much for Burn though, taped that from next door neighbours LP the other day. Maybe I just prefer the MK II lineup, the new stuffs pretty good as well, but quite different. (Sometimes I feel like screaming etc.)

I agree, Nick Drake is very very good. I had never even heard of him until my uncle sent me some mixes with him on it.

I was just listening to George Thorogood's I Drink Alone...and remembered that i never even looked into buying one of his albums. Any good ones i should check out next time i go to the music store?

I heard that Thorogoods best was his debut. I've yet to buy any of his albums, though. Fortuneatley, the local Classic Rock Station plays him quite a bit.

Exactly, I don't listen to any AC/DC, but if they had a concert I would definately go. AC/DC defined 3 chord rock (lol). Not a fan of them, but its something that you can groove to.

I think they wrote good songs, they were just all the same.

If they could come out with one album...it would be a huge success. If they went back in time they could release a different album and it would also be a big success. Unfortunately, they released like thirty albums...so it really starts to wear off after a while because you realize they only could write one type of song.

AC/DC was a hugely talented band (not near my favorite though), but they lacked creativity. If i were in Angus' position, i could never think of so many different solos for so many similar songs.

I couldn't really pick out one picture I liked, Distant Echoes, they were all pretty cool. There were a few on the first couple pages that really caught my eye though. I suggest you just go for whatever you're in the mood for...you can always change it.

Yeah I went through my AC/DC phase......for about a week.

Just like my Van Halen phase, all the songs started to sound the same. I mean somtimes I still listen to Back in Black, or Van Halens self titled (I still love Ice Cream man, good blues rock combo).

I never went through I Van Halen phase, but I had a small Ac/Dc one.

I never liked Van Halen. I also, however, did have an AC/DC phase. I was so young and naive.
