Alright! I just got my guitarworld today! it's a MOP tribute sorta thing.
If ya'll aren't subscribers you hsould probably go out and pick this one up.
It's got a great write up a giant interview with Kirk (that answers lots of questions I've seen here) some cool photos a lesson and a overall great magazine. THis is a must for any Metallica fan even if they don't play guitar...
or any instrement for that matter

I'm not sure what YSI you guys are talking about. But if it's something you think I'd be intrested in please send it to me. brittonmadcap@yahoo.com

Been on the website, and it seems like a pretty cool issue. I might have to invest in a copy.
I love Carage INC it's probably one of the best album's to get drunk too with a couple of friends.

Die Die My Darling
It's Electric
Turn The Page
Whiskey In The Jar
The More I See

:chug: These tracks are brilliant!

If you notice after the final track (The More I See) if you let the song run for alittle while after its finished you hear a random track of just the Tallica boys jamming together it ownly lasts like 45 seconds 50 but I ownly found that out a few days ago!
These are all great but you're missing a few. I love the song Sabbra Cadabra and all of the Motorheadache (the last few songs on the second disc). Now that is some awesome metal.

Sadbutrue16 11-21-2005 03:02 PM

oh ****

You guys see the One video on metallica.com from 11/13? its pretty sweet. Too bad they didn't show Orion though.

Don't let Chu hear you say that. He might get a little upset.

Note: Here, you've gotta back you're claims if you dislike something.
IE, explain why you dislike something

Father_Jack 11-21-2005 03:17 PM

That One video was awesome. The muted string strum before each verse was something I have never heard before when they do it live, sounded pretty cool. Oh and hetfields guitar was the shizz, why don't ESP release something like that instead of the truckster which just looks bad.

EDIT: I'm not 100% sure its an ESP but whatever it's beautiful.

Obviously a great song, but I couldn't image playing that song everynight on tour, then again they probebly feel that way about most of their setlist.

I've been more into the Puppetz album lately. "you will do, what i say, when i say...back to the front!"

I haven't played one in so long. I actually started to forget how to play the intro. I felt like a complete idiot when I tried.

I have always loved that song, the lyrics are great.

"Why am I dying?
Kill, have no fear
Lie, live off lying
Hell, hell is here"

"Looking back I realize, nothing have I done
Left to die with only friend
Alone I clench my gun"

timmySmi 11-21-2005 03:46 PM

Sorry I should of mentioned this in my last post but it slipped my mind could someone email me the link from the gig cheers!

You're forgeting the most awesome line that comes after that.

"I was born for dying!!!"

Quickdrop 11-21-2005 04:06 PM

it's a shame, they just dont write stuff like that anymore :(

Sadbutrue16 11-21-2005 04:13 PM

i think they could if they tried.

.:Thrasher:. 11-21-2005 04:36 PM

Yeah if they try, we will probly have an other MOP, AJFA, METALLICA, KEA, and RTL. But with SA they were sitting around the studio thinking of lines but with there earlier albums James would get inspired.

You will do, what I say, when I say,
Back to the front
You must die, when I say, you must die
Back to the front
You coward, you servant, you blind man
Back to the front"

I too have always liked that song.

EDIT: So how were the Iced Earth songs ? Do you like it ?

Quickdrop 11-21-2005 05:13 PM

i dont see them coming out with another legendary album. They just dont have the badass and rebellious image that they used to. They substitute their lack of inspiration with low-tuned guitars and bar chords to try to make themselves sound heavy, its lame in my opinion.

But dont get me wrong, i would love to see another MoP though!:)

I downloaded them but like an idiot I left my Zip Disk at home. I'll try to remember to bring it tomorrow and give it a listen.
i think they could if they tried.
yeah, they probably could, they just really don't try anymore. i think that they realize they are getting older and just want to screw around and have fun. however, st anger wasn't that bad for being the first album of its kind by them, and i think that if they tighten up the screws, fix up the drums, and add some kirk soloing that it will sound quite nice :thumb:

na kidding, i can see your new.
St. Anger IMO was pretty good because it showed that they could do Nu-metal and did a pretty good job on it.
Frantix, St. Anger, SKOM, and Dirty Window were great songs

Well, I wouldn't call St. Anger Nu-metal. The album is pretty good, but some of the lyrics are a bit dodgy. "My lifestyle determines my Deathstyle" is pretty bad:p I don't know why some people say St. Anger is crap, it's certainly much better than (Re)Load.

True. I think the lyrics were dodgy because they were sat there forcing themseleves to write instead of just letting it flow out.

I kind of like Reload and St. Anger the same
I think its just plain old Heavy Metal
And the lyrics are dodgy (wash your back so you wont stab mine, get in bed with your own kind. BAH!!!!)

I wouldn't say Load ect are heavy metal.

I thought St. Anger was horrible. When if first came out, I tried to fool myself into thinking it was an amazing album because it was the first album Metallica released since I got into them.

After listening to it about ten times, there was just nothing there. A horrible sound, with almost everything. The cd took what Metallica was, and stripped everything that was good about them and left the rest of the crap in there.

There are no memorable riffs on the entire cd, there is nothing memorable at all other than the horrible drum sound. I love drums, I love their sound, but to say they fit on ANY album with that horrible sound you would have to be kidding yourself.

Low production, a movie with the background on it all, it all doesn't matter because it was a horrible album.

That's a bit harsh, isn't it? I thought it was a nicely produced album. You're right about Lars though. The drums do sound horrible.

I think they didn't produce it properly on purpose actually.

Perhaps to make the next album so much better?

I totally agree with you. First listen I thought "Hey, that's ok!".

But then I give it a second and third listen and realised it's just turd.

Maybe.

Sadbutrue16 11-22-2005 10:30 AM

I went to a metallica concert last year and they played a few St. Anger songs. For instance Frantic. IT sounded great with regular drums and kirk did a little solo thingy. Sounded good i thoguht. I dont like the drums on the album but i dont think one bad thing doesnt make the album sh!t. Lyrics were wierd but they were written in forced conditions.
You think St. Anger is crappy?
The lyrics and drumming are.

then again when you use a drum loop for most of the album I would expect it to sound like that.

I found a lot of potential in the guitar riffs though. I swear dirty window should've had a rippin' minor pentatonic played over it. It was such a good jam even with crappy lyrics.

Britton 11-22-2005 01:20 PM

That's what I took it to be...really just a jam. I loved the Riffs I don't care
too much about the snare. I wish it had solo's and the lyrics could have
been better...but overall I really liked it
