I hate expensive cds.
Good show on the cheap ones. I might be able to get Agent Orange - Sonic Snake Session on ebay for £3.00 including P&P |

That is one great haul you got there :thumb: Even if some were a bit over priced :(
At least my Sound Of... came with two discs which averages out at £6.00 per disc, which isn't too bad. I just need to figure out what the second disc is :-/ The Juno Reactor CD was expensive but that doesn't really bother me because I was so surprised to find it. The woman who served me was like "You have a really interesting taste in music". I just laughed. I also didn't manage to find the final parts for my friend's brithday present. So this'll take some careful explaining along the lines of "I haven't finished your present yet so you'll have to wait".
good work ali- sound of perseverance is a great album
Yeah, I know. It only took me so long to get around to buying it becuase I never set out to buy certain CDs, I just buy from what's there. Out of interest, are you applying to Edinburgh Uni?
I hate expensive cds. Good show on the cheap ones. That's pretty decent for £3.00. I think the last CD I got for £3.00 from the net was Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds which came from an Amazon sale. |
yeah, I am applying to edinbergh uni... despite there being 24 applicants to each english lit place I am going to apply regardless...
And I have got that response from CD shop people before, once I bought Cannibal corpse- butchered at birth, the smiths- hatfull of hollow and Ian dury and the blockheads- warts n' audience at the same time, I got a funny look that day. |

Well, if the number is 24 you can't fail. If you end up there I'll point you in the direction of decent CD shops.
And I have got that response from CD shop people before, once I bought Cannibal corpse- butchered at birth, the smiths- hatfull of hollow and Ian dury and the blockheads- warts n' audience at the same time, I got a funny look that day.
Was that from a big store like HMV? This was in a tiny little second hand store. The Woman seemed pretty cool. |
So I'm planning to finish my Sum 41 FA for pop-punk today, and then next up is my mini-FA on Dredg :D
|
Was that from a big store like HMV? This was in a tiny little second hand store. The Woman seemed pretty cool.
yeah it was HMV, there is a lack of second hand shops in my area, I only get to go to gateshead metro centre, carlisle and very occasionally, newcastle for shopping |
I don't have any tiny little friendly music stores that I know about (Newcastle or Leeds). There used to be one I liked going to in South Shields, but it closed down a few years ago. Continued online, but it wasn't the same, and even that closed down eventually, too.
The closest thing I know to a little second hand CD store is in Florida, so obviously I don't visit it often. I've gotten some good deals there though. It sells CDs and "smoking paraphernelia".
So, I'm back from Edinburgh and my trip yielded: Madness - Our House The Original Songs (£5.99) Kraftwerk - Trans-European Express (£8.99) Beck - Mellow Gold (£6.99) Juno Reactor - Labyrinth (£10.00 :() Death - The Sound Of Perserverance (£12.00 :()
Surprisingly little, seeing as how you had something like £500 to go in with. Some good stuff there, though. |

THe one I usually go to is right on the actual campus of my university. Really great prices too, I usually spend 2-4 pounds per CD (Roughly I think). I even get a discount for being a frequent shopper :) Well, he didn't spend it all either :p Buying 6 CDs for 500 pounds would be insane. |

Edinburgh is great for shopping because it has Head Music- Second Hand Store, two Avalanches - Good quality with second hand sections and an amzing sale on right now, Two Fopps - Have Brilliant £5.00 Deals, Two HMVs, and a Virgin all centred around the centre :)
Surprisingly little, seeing as how you had something like £500 to go in with. Some good stuff there, though.
Yeah, well...I'm trying to save some money for Uni :( Also, I'm in the process of uploading Clutch - Robot Hive/Exodus and The Blues Brothers - Briefcase Full Of Blues for anyone who wants them. Clutch - Robot Hive/Exodus Great Stoner rock, very much worth a download. |

Oh, there used to be a guy who set up a stall right inside the Student union every other day (at least once a week, anyway). It was a novelty to me, and he almost always had some good stuff, so I bought a lot of CDs (basically spent whatever money I had available whenever I checked the stall) from him in my first few months at university. He even started giving me discounts, which was very cool. But then he stopped setting up so often. Stopped being a few times a week, and became just once a week (every Wednesday, I think). I kept buying stuff from him whenever my schedule led me into Uni on a Wednesday, but eventually he just stopped coming. Didn't see him at all for the last few months I was there. |
. I've gotten some good deals there though. "smoking paraphernelia".
.
:) ah I see... recording vocals is more difficult than it seems, I am taking alot of takes to try and get this right, it might however be due to the suckiness of my mic, my voice seems not to be coming through properly and seems to be inaudible sometimes |

Ollie, what are you recording? Maiden stuff?
|
nah, I have it, I'm substituting the laiho rasp for more traditional DM stylings and it seems alot better
EDIT for jakey-boy's benefit COB- taste of my scythe and I'm off to work... |

EDIT for jakey-boy's benefit COB- taste of my scythe and I'm off to work...
I can see doing that. I've figured out the rasp part, but it's just too difficult to keep the phlegmy tone out of my throat. I thought my tone was okay, but lately it's just been really bad. I've switched to trying more Jon Oliva and Dio-esque vocals and that's going much better. |
I heard my first CoB song last night, thanks to whoever uploaded it in Alex's FG. The insturmentals are flatout amazing, but I really couldn't do anything about the vocals but laugh. :upset:
Alex, you must check out Arcturus! |

Alex, you must check out Arcturus!
I will when I get around to it. The vocals do take some getting used to, true. Of course the same can be said of any extreme metal vocalist. I remember when I frist heard Celtic Frost. I thought Tom Warrior was ridiculous. |
What's everyone recording for, that comp. still? I haven't done anything with that yet :upset:
5,000 posts :chug: |
Haha, well good, maybe I can stop being resident cliche emo fag for a bit :p
I'll be more than happy to usurp that role from you. Not like I hadn't already, thanks in part to your absences from here. And congratulations, by the way. Well, I don't know if "congratulations" is the right word. I mean, I'm glad for you, but "congratulations" kind of looks like "It's about time, emo faggot" or something, in this situation :-\ But no matter.
I also didn't manage to find the final parts for my friend's brithday present. So this'll take some careful explaining along the lines of "I haven't finished your present yet so you'll have to wait".
I remember you touching on this earlier, but did you actually explain what it is that you're doing? Or are you keeping it silent until you actually deliver the present?
5,000 posts :chug:
:chug: |

I'm working on my min-FA of Dredg now :D
If any one is so inclined to venture into pop-punk, check out my FA on Sum 41 too :thumb: |
I hope this guy drowns in a toilet bowl, he sucks that much.
Also there is no "I will when I get around to it" when it comes to Arcturus, you must go out of your way to check them out! :p If you want, I can upload some samples. NP - Kayo Dot - Marathon |
I like Arcturus, but i think you guys over hype them a bit. Very good and talented, but not something that absolutely blows me away :-\
EDIT: I do have 2 of their albums though :) |
Uploads won't help until my modem stops acting up. But go ahead and post them for everyone else's benefit.

I just saw what happened. What was this guy's problem with Steerpike? Was it the user himself who made this or was his account hacked?

I checked some of his earlier posts. He was kind of a dick back then, so chances are he was just looking for a cheap thrill. |
