Mercied?
I was wondering the same.

Jom 09-03-2005 10:32 AM

A mercy in our league is where you're losing by 35 points or more. The score could be 35-0, 42-7, what have you, but as soon as you are losing by 35, you automatically lose.

It's not an instant forfeiture, but there is a running clock to speed the game up. No time-outs, no clock stoppage on first downs, etc.

This is American football, by the way, sorry :-\

My high school is alright. The younger teams are great but older ones are laughable.

Not to worry, I probably wouldn't have gotten no matter the sport it referred to.

superpeer 09-03-2005 10:51 AM

Live cannibalism is pretty good, yeah. Only CC album I have, and I won't buy any more soon unless they're really cheap. It's like a greatest hits album, with better vocals.

That is so 3 years ago

On a side note, last night i was on the piss pretty big, and a friend of mine was sober and was dominating me the entire night in winning eleven soccer. The best score i had was i lost 6-2.

Some games you can become better at when youre pissed, not that one though.

Essentaily yes, you could get by on this and gore obsessed
very well. However, the live album lacks the odd luminary of a track like Sentanced to burn, the undead will feast, the pickaxe murders and she was asking for it

Last night was the first football game of the year. It blew. I left when it got to 40-0 in favor of the other team. :upset:
Our team lost to one of the worst teams in the state last night. I was too drunk and high to really remember any details about the game though.

munky_magik 09-03-2005 11:24 AM
Haha, I love the Scots. You always take a huge scalp in qualifiers then lose twice to Armenia or whatever. Bring back Mo Johnston.
We usually lose no matter what :-/

I just really want to beat Italy today, because they talked so much shit about us before the game. Admitedly, we did the same but that's just patriotism :)

Did the England game finish 1 - 0 to England?

I caught a bit of that match, I think. Lots of people sent off, if I remember correctly.

People in Europe seriously underestimate the power of the United States soccer team. We may not be the best in the world, but its not like we are a joke.

munky_magik 09-03-2005 11:34 AM
They beat us (Ireland) in a friendly a couple of weeks ago. The manager has a huge mouth. He criticised everything about us and then said his team would probably lose because the Italian season hadn't started yet (they were about a week or two behind us). I hope the Scots win too, Celtic pride and all that.
I dread to think what would happen if Italy got a decent coach.

I don't think anyone does, really.

Lord Abortion 09-03-2005 11:42 AM

No, I know how much quality the US has, they have a great side with players like Landon Donavan, plus They've been keeping the premiership in goalkeepers for a while now.
Plus they also have one of the world game's future megastars in Freddy Adu...

I'm kinda hoping England don't make it to the world cup... not in a mean way, but personally I think the team aren't very good and receive a lot more praise than deserved.

And I'd LOVE to see the reaction of all British football fans.

The current England team is one of the strongest teams that they've had for ages, and definietly deserves to be in the World Cup. Sven's tactics just don't work anymore.

And bollocks, Italy scored :upset:

I just feel that they're (or at least some of them are) payed a lot more than they deserve in terms of what they actually do.

I'm not a football fan, as is probably obvious.

If it's not going in the players' pockets it's going in the owners' pockets.

That's how I look at it.

munky_magik 09-03-2005 12:40 PM

Hmmm...Finished Scotland 1 - 1 Italy. Not a bad result for us, I guess. Hopefully the Italian coach will shut up now.

All we need to do now is beat Norway and we'll have a decent chance of qualifying.

munky_magik 09-03-2005 12:59 PM
Easier said that done, Norway always have a decent side.
I cant remember whether we're playing home or away. If we're playiing at Hampden I'd say we have a decent chance. Thankfully Walter Smith seems to have repaired most of the damage that Berti Vogts did.

All atheletes are overpaid. These people are played millions upon millions of dollars a year, whereas trained professionals with years of college education are making more or less $50,000. There's no justice in that, plain and simple.

Pro athletes work harder than most people with jobs paying under $50,000. Plus its those people making 50000 that pay their paychecks, so they cant complain.

Also I just recieved an authentic 2003 probowl Ladanian Tomlinson jersey for free. Sweet.

Given the revenue athletes bring in, it would be absurd for them to not make millions of dollars.

College athletes, though, they really piss me off.

You can't be serious. Athletes are played to play a game - there's no way around it. They don't even "work" year round like other people do. Try telling those construction workers who bust their asses 8-10 hours a day for 5-7 days a week for $50,000 a year that their job is easier than being an athlete.

That is only one reason why I dislike sports.

How many people with college degrees work construction?

I'm assuming Byzantine is talking about those generic white-collar guys who work in a cubicle for 8 hours a day, and he's probably right. Not to mention there's a lot more of a risk playing sports. How often at a desk job can you get paralyzed at the blink of an eye?
