There are no flowerchilds but me at my school. It's so lonely and cold. :upset:
 We have several...I hang around with most of them. The one I'm friends with the most is getting a little too messed up from too much marijuana though. He literally only knows two months: October (his birthday) and April (4/20). He's a great guy though. It's started snowing again here, so we can't toke up in the park because it's too cold, so last night we just went into a house that's just being built. (no doors or anything like that) and smoked up, then meditated for an hour. |
sounds like another productive day from our good friend, thickasabrick. lol

There's a few major classic rock fiends other than me at school that I hang out with, but no "flower children"... |

Yeah well a teacher started a club at our school in the mornings, that's just yoga and meditation. I've gotten into it pretty fast, it's quite enjoyable. We always just get so baked we end up going on some sort of fantastic journey though. Last night we went through an entire tank of gas and then another half tank, and I don't even think we accomplished anything worth talking about. edit- the last paragraph is about what we do on weekends, not at the yoga club. We have a lot of guys at our school who listen to Classic Rock, but most of them are generally jerks who like to break into cars and stuff like that for fun. I'm not that kind of a guy. |
My mom is a yoga instructor. I never really got into it though. I have some hippie ideals, but yoga's just not my thing.
|
a tank and a half?? Wow...marijuana: the drug that just keeps on costing more..lol
|
There are so many flower children at my school, complete with Grateful Dead shirts, Bob marley hair, hacky sacks, ukuleles and, on occasion, digereedoo's. They all sit on the heaters throught the school and jam on guitar and play hackey sack and stuff. Of the 600 some kids that go to my school, maybe 10% are hippies. It's lovely, really
|
There's one hippie at my school. The funny thing is in middle school he was like a football star, and was popular. Now he has dreads, wears tie-dye Grateful Dead shirts, and plays hacky sack.

Was he one of the ones who went hippie to be cool, or is he tormented for his newfound beleifs? EDIT: I just got back from this JamFest thing, it was so bitchin' for something in my town (population 6,000) |
Was he one of the ones who went hippie to be cool, or is he tormented for his newfound beleifs?
He's a genuine hippie. When I saw him for the first time in like 3 years, I couldn't believe it. I asked my brother about him (he was friends with him in middle school), and he said that he was always a hippie but didn't show it until high school. Also when I was wearing my moe. hoody he said "Hey, you like moe.?". Me: Yea. Him: That's cool. /walks away |
Yeah, a lot of hippyish things are becoming popular again, like hackey sack. I try not to conform to sterytypes of what genre am I, but I am a hippie. I had long hair (cut against my will, and is growing it out again), I have a few tie dies, not because there tie die, just because I thought the shirt kicked ass, and the other shirts I have feature a band from the 60's or 70's. I think along the lines of peacefullness that all hippies belive in (the only quality any hippie needs), and well yeah the drug thing too. Though no hackey sack for me.
|
There are a few hippies at my school and a fair amount of stoners, but I don't really hang out with them.
|
I hate the whole "hippie" thing these days, in most cases. It becomes a look, heavily.
|
I'm the only Classic Rock head bigtime in my grade. But I go to an all 9th grade school. I wish their were more. My dads the only person I know :\
|
I hate hippies, period.
I don't mind the music, but I hate hippies. |
Wait...my avatar owns.
|
It just seems people these days are hippies just to be a stoner....not for the awesome 1960's San Fransisco music scene:angry:
|
Ya the hippy look is becomin really trendy lol. Whatever, there are a hell of a lot worse trends that could start up. Pretty much the only hippy in me is that i have somewhat long hair, play guitar, and wear t shirts of bands mostly from the 60's and 70's. lol no hacky sack for me either tho, i wish i was co-ordinated enough haha.

Yeah, I've gotten kicked out of hacky-sack circles before :upset: |
Yeah, I've gotten kicked out of hacky-sack circles before :upset:
Haha, that's rought man. Take my theory, can't get kicked out if you don't join  |

It's a great way to kill time. |
Badmoon. can you post some Tony Rice?
Blackberry Blossom is awesome and I want to hear more. |
It would take a lot of time. I have it on Itunes, so I would have to burn it on to a disc, and then upload it, and then upload it again on yousendit.com.
Maybe later |
Can I ask what the appeal of hackey-sack is?
I think it's just like getting a good volley in ping-pong or volleyball. You try and keep it going for as long a you can, except you can do it with 1 person through almost any number of people you want. |

Well unless I am mistaken, it was a game that was started by hippies because they wanted a non competitive game to play were no score was kept, and it was just suppose to be fun. It has lost the old meaning it had today though because many people are highly competitve with it. |

That's exactly why I started playing it. I just wanted to find a pastime that I can do with other people, that isn't really competative. Every other sport I play (or have played) has been way too competative for my liking...I'm not a very competative guy. It's the only sport where me and my friends can just chill out and have fun in a park playing hacky sack, it doesn't turn into like a huge tournament and all that crap with rules and stuff. |
What about frisbee? Now there's a game.
|
What about frisbee? Now there's a game.
Ultimate Frisbee is awesome. I haven't played in awhile though. |
Ultimate Frisbee is awesome. I haven't played in awhile though.
regular frisbee is excellent too. |
What about frisbee? Now there's a game.
I enjoy throwing a frisbee around, although everyone always wants to make teams, and turn it into a ferocious game. It's fun just to stand in a big circle and throw frisbees though. Once you start having to run and use strategies, that's when I go sit on the sidelines. edit- If you guys were gonna make one of those like "Important Years in Music" or whatever they are called (that Meds doing), which year would you choose? He already took '67, which is probably my favourite year. |
What about frisbee? Now there's a game.
Hell yea it is, and meh it will replace hackey sack when the characters on the OC start playing it on the show. |
I might want to do a 1969 one, but it's unlikely I'll be able to do it before next weekend so someone will probably have done it by then.

Yeah Frisbee is fun to throw around in your yard, a park or the beach but when people atart playing that ultimate frisbee it isn't fun anymore. |
I bought a BOC CD today for $6. It's pretty good.
yay |
