I've only heard their first album :|
I like that one but the keyboards are a little too cheesy. I think you'd like Memoria Vetusta I: Fathers of the Icy Age and Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue With the Stars, they're along similar lines but the new one is way more polished and, daresay, artsy.

Txus 09-23-2009 01:01 PM

TWWTG and MMVII are their best.

TimJim 09-23-2009 01:02 PM

i like Mhorgl's vocals alot

Ssurno 09-23-2009 04:14 PM
mutiilation is boring and for women

no and you probably listen to **** thrash/death too
I listen to Anata, Atheist, and Death, etc. I was new to true bm and that's it, everything else I have good knowledge in...jazz/fusion metal, technical, prog, avant-garde, you name it. I'm not responding to your posts anymore. I didn't even say anything to make you mad. Go ahead and say what you want but I'm not playing your childish games anymore..By the way this is a bm thread...

Sorry I just came back, what is TWWTG and MMVII?

Nepenthe 09-23-2009 04:24 PM

avant garde

Txus 09-23-2009 04:25 PM

the work which transforms god and Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue With the Stars both are Blut Aus Nord albums.

Nepenthe 09-23-2009 04:28 PM

dialogue with the stars is a masterpiece. guitars are incredible.

masscows 09-23-2009 04:29 PM

agreed, it's definitely gonna be a top pick for me this year

i really like the keyboards on it too, they give it that awesome "celestial" vibe

Ssurno 09-23-2009 04:30 PM
avant garde
Nepenthe 09-23-2009 04:33 PM

RouteOne 09-23-2009 04:45 PM

so the guy that bailed on me the first time wants to do a bm project again. Hope it works out, I wrote some material recently that I need drums for.

Nepenthe 09-23-2009 04:50 PM

should just send it to me and ill lay down filthy satanic drumming

probably better than what ol boy would do tbh

Baeleron 09-23-2009 05:16 PM

Immortal

First listen to Immortal-All Shall Fall!

Sounds great so far, similar style to Sons Of Northern Darkness and At The Heart Of Winter. I'm glad these guys are back, I was pretty bummed when they called it quits.

Stevie 09-23-2009 05:24 PM

i didn't even know there was new immortal.
but im not really interested anyway

TimJim 09-23-2009 05:56 PM

i never bothered getting immortal after seeing the album art

Stevie 09-23-2009 05:57 PM

i never bothered talking to timjim after i saw his photo

Angmar 09-23-2009 05:58 PM

Well that's kind of a dumb reason.

TimJim 09-23-2009 05:59 PM

well that and i didnt really think of it

for instance the only Gorogoroth i know is whats on their last.fm, never remember to get their discog

illmitch 09-23-2009 06:02 PM

immortal is ridiculously entry-level

masscows 09-23-2009 06:04 PM

first 2 albums are ridiculously good though

Nepenthe 09-23-2009 06:04 PM

but no less awesome for it

Baeleron 09-23-2009 06:06 PM

Immortal are black metal icons. You don't have to like them, but you ought to at least have heard them. They're immitated rather than immitators, which is more than you can say for 99% of black metal bands these days.

And I think this new album is going to rule my ipod for awhile, it's pretty enjoyable.

Txus 09-23-2009 06:07 PM

the first two albums are good once every aeon

TimJim 09-23-2009 06:07 PM

what are the two first albums? just so i can sample them

Nepenthe 09-23-2009 06:07 PM

i even enjoy heart of winter and sons of northern darkness. theres some badass riffage to be had on them.

masscows 09-23-2009 06:11 PM

TimJim 09-23-2009 06:13 PM

thanks brah

Baeleron 09-23-2009 06:16 PM

Pure Holocaust is the album that put them on the map. It's still a good listen once in awhile too, though I like the later stuff more.

TimJim 09-23-2009 06:21 PM

so Darkestrah is really awesome pagan/atmospheric. they have Tuvan throat singing in it with all kiinds of folk instruments.
