Dave Gorman looks/sounds rather funny. Should I attempt to check him out?

ChodaBoy 05-05-2005 04:51 AM

Whatever floats your boat

He did the whole campaign to find as many people called Dave Gorman as possible. Then he lived by his horoscopes for weeks to see if it made a difference.
I loved the one where it said "Suprise an old friend", so he got a washing machine box, knocked on the door then hid in the box.

His friend opened the door and he popped out saying "Suprise!" and offering a hug.

It then went back to the studio, where he said

"This was not the best time to find that my friend had moved house."

Adam Jones is GOD 05-05-2005 05:22 AM

Ill look out for it on friday. Err, tommorrow. Though im spending far too much money again this month

Now im off to vote. With the polling station just across the road. I love being lazy

I knew there had to be some advantage to going to a convent school: Lie ins on holy days :D School started at 1045 today :p

ChodaBoy 05-05-2005 10:07 AM

Its a holy day?

duffroxmysox 05-05-2005 10:09 AM

Aparently so!

I think it's ascension day? (which I can't even spell) but I may be wrong and I only know that by chance...

duffroxmysox 05-05-2005 10:12 AM

James: just read your entry from last nights gig- glad you had a good time lucky bastard  you seem to be being lucky with stuff at gigs this week....

edit: oooh if I do about 5 more posts in a row I might rival *isitaggro?* and piss off Brew! :D

Bartender 05-05-2005 10:23 AM

Yeah, it's Ascension day apparently. Nice of them to make the election the same day.

duffroxmysox 05-05-2005 10:29 AM

I found it rather humorous the other day when I learnt Tony Blair's birthday is infact tomorow

I guess you, Ben and Bob are the only ones here old enough to actually vote
*possibly James*

ChodaBoy 05-05-2005 10:31 AM

Next year for me

Bartender 05-05-2005 10:32 AM

Which ones are Ben and Bob and James?

duffroxmysox 05-05-2005 10:32 AM
Next year for me
...except there wont be an election :thumb:

Bartender 05-05-2005 10:32 AM

There may be some kind of election. Just not a general election.

meh, minor details...

ChodaBoy 05-05-2005 10:36 AM

Yeah, the local elections are what I meant to type

Adam Jones is GOD 05-05-2005 11:19 AM

Big voting turnout in my area. The labour candidate was harassing people at the door but was really struggling for effort.

Plus our area is such a Conservative stronghold i think he knows it was pointless.

Did you kick him in the shins?

duffroxmysox 05-05-2005 11:21 AM

My mate had some leaflet shoved in her hand while walking home from school the other day: thick candidate didn't realise school uniform=unable to vote

Adam Jones is GOD 05-05-2005 11:25 AM
Did you kick him in the shins?
I think he was suffering enough. One of the other stations had a Veritas candidate. That would have called for some shin kicking.

Brew 05-05-2005 12:31 PM

I have my first AS exam tomorrow

Music Tech Structured Commentry...

Woo.

ChodaBoy 05-05-2005 12:33 PM

Have fun with that :)

Brew 05-05-2005 12:43 PM

I could make a post of all the stuff I need to remember for it.

Adam Jones is GOD 05-05-2005 12:44 PM

Go for it. ill let you know if any makes sense to me.

Brew 05-05-2005 12:59 PM

Ok, I can't remember all the questions but this is all the stuff floating around in my brain for it.

Name of piece: Sinfonia - Solomen (The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba)
Composed by: G.F.Handell

From: the Baroque period, which lasted between 1600 and 1750.

Rondo

Other composers were Bach and Vivaldi

Random crap about the piece:

In Bar 1, the main theme is played by the full orchestra.
In Bar 4, the piece is modulated to the key of F, which is the dominant key. This is repeated throughout the piece.
Bar 17 is the beginning of 8 oboe episodes.
The 4th oboe episode, which stars at bar 35 is a Homphonic episode.
The main theme returns in Bar 43 in the key of Bflat Major.
At Bar 51, there is a developmental sequential passage that modulates through different keys.

Time Sig: 4/4

Key: Bflat Major

Uh... Bar 4 - the piece is modulated to the key of F, which is the dominat key.
There is strong tonality in the piece.

6 chord changes from Bar somethingsomething: Bflat, Gm7, Cm7, Bflat, Bflat/D, C7

Uh...mkII Bar 1 - Arppegiated Melodies
Bar...meh

Bar 12, beat 3 - Imperfect Cadence
Bar..., beat 3 - Dovetailing into next passage

Bar 74 - Syncopated Oboe Melodies
Bar 74 - Fragmented main theme

Context etc...

Solomen was written in 1748 in just over 1 month.
The words were supposedly written by a Dr. Morell.
It was originally produced in Covent Garden Theatre.
The date of the production was Friday March 17th 1749.
The Director was Handell himself.
It was written for Soloists, Double Chorus and Orchestra.

What made the piece typical for its era:
Lack of dynamic markings on the score.
Use of trills to decorate the melody
Use of Bassocontinuo
*insert 4th thing here*

Compare to another piece: The Sweet - Air III in D by J.S.Bach

Similarites:
Use of Bassocontinuo
Both modulate to dominant key early on
Descending bassline

Differences:
Bach used a slower tempo
Bach's piece was in D, Handells was in Bflat.
Bach's piece was polyphonic, Handells was homophonic.

*insert crap about how I sequenced the piece of the pooter*

///

Thats pretty much it, I need to remember a few more Bar numbers though :)

Spectrum 05-05-2005 01:00 PM

Hey, Adam, I wanted to show someone that Hulk avatar you had, but then you changed to the clinking beer mugs one! What gives?

/anger

Brew 05-05-2005 01:07 PM

I had a feeling I was spelling the poor dudes name wrong.

The thing is though....its hardly an exam, we've been given a past paper and been told exactly what to write in the real exam, its just a case of remembering it all.

Spectrum 05-05-2005 01:07 PM

Oh, hi, Med. You're currently number 7 on my compatability list, I believe, on RYM.

That, or it's another Radiohead/Muse obsessed Medopalis...
