I've been listening to:
Can - Ege Bamyasi This Heat - Self Titled Nucleus - Roots I'm such a hipster. |
i need new music to listen to. its been pretty constant with:
the rachels slowdive m83 slint mahavishnu orchestra *stands up* *clears throat* my name is sam and i am addicted to post rock.
I love you :) I ordered Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place by EITS last night, but it's going to take 20-30 days and I couldn't wait that long, so I burned a copy. I'm digging that right now. |
Thanks for the JR Ewing thread a few months ago, Tang. Ride Paranoia is rockin'
No problem. Those guys are off the heeze. |
I am listening to Slint right now. Hot ****.
|
I've really been diggin' Chuck Mangione and Tom Waits. I've got 'Feels so good' on vinyl and for Tom Waits I've been listening to a lot of 'Mule Variations'.
Some songs from 'Mule Variation' I've really been liking: Big In Japan Cold Water Get Behind the Mule Black Market Baby Filipino Box Spring Hog |
Tom Waits is the goods.
If I was going to make a movie, which was slightly dark and twisted, I'd have lullaby as the backing music to a murder/rape scene. |
I really like the way Tom writes his lyrics. They're creepy and funny at the same time.
|
Yeah he has a good take on songwriting.
|
Yeah he does, I really like the way his song writing has changed over the years. But he older stuff has also held it's ground too. 'The Piano has been drinking' is probably my favorite from the 70's. It's nice to have a little humor in dark songs.
|
I just listened to Up the Bracket for the first time and it was ok. There were about 5 songs that I really liked a lot but it was let down by a tonne of crappy slow songs.
Thats my exact reaction to that album. It was worth a download, but when space runs out, it'll be the first to go. Anyway, I've basically been listening to Blackalicious,Hieroglyphics,Handsome Boy Modeling school, and Bear Suit. |
Trail of Dead's new album is rather nice.

I'd have to agree... Though overall not as good as Source Tags and Codes, just the sheer scope of what their doing I think is incredible. :thumb: I hope on their next album they have more tracks like Ode To Isis... I REALLY think that track is just ultimately cool. |
Recently I have been enjoying the likes of:
Cursive Sunny Day Real Estate Mineral Saetia Bright Eyes Damien Rice and Beck. ..I haven't posted in a while. |

I have been really digging Cat Power a lot lately. I realized that her songs would sound really good covered by a rock band.
|

I love you even more :) I always have it playing in my head when I wake up. It's like it's actually playing but it's not. |
It's only early, and today I've already really got into:
Trail Of Dead The Unicorns William Shatner Bloc Party Kaiser Chiefs Lemon Jelly Tool The Smashing Pumpkins GYBE It's gonna be a fantastic day. |
The Skatalites
|
try :
bloc party endochine Dispatch british sea power fuel rooney soul coughing the decemberists the wrens etc etc!! the used |
Archer Prewitt - "Wilderness"
Beautiful, eloquent, and well crafted. This is the type of strong songwriting that will fall through the cracks. This previous member of the Sea and Cake has created an amazing pop album with a slight wave of melancholy covering it's tunes. |

I love the song "Free." I've been meaning to check out more, but I've never gotten around to it. |
the weakerthans & weezer & miles davis' "bitches brew" is what I've been diggin' lately.

My brother sent me a whole mix CD that will be occupying my time for a while, although certain albums more than others. I had heard most of the stuff already, but the inclusion of AH, Folkways, and Intoxicated Spirit is pretty new and different for me.
Ben Lee - Breathing Tornados Bhagavan Das - AH Folkways Janis Joplin - 18 Essential Songs Jonathan Fire Eater - Wolf Songs For Lambs Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan - Intoxicated Spirit Sleater-Kinney - Dig Me Out T. Rex - Tanx & Electric Warrior The Rapture - Echoes & Out of the Races and Onto the Tracks |
Suffocation, possibly the best New York death metal band of all time.
|
Nothing like specifics.
|
Well, New York, Canadian, Floridian, and Gothenburg are all very different. No use comparing bands from the different styles.
|
I know. It's a joke from a sitcom over here.
Right this second I'm digging Royksopp. I really wish they'd included the CD single remix of Remind Me on Melody AM as a bonus track, but never mind. Guess I'll have to track down the single. |
Blueberry Boat
|
I downloaded this song from The Honorary Title called "Bridge and Tunnel." I like it. Are they any good?
|
Xiu Xiu - Fabulous Muscles
|
Queens of the Stone Age self-titled. I never really bothered with any QOTSA but SFTD, but I'm finally getting into this tonight.
|
