This Angel Eyes is very good. They remind me of Jakob a bit, actually, who I love.
i know, just playing along. :)

( ) is very good.
Is it better than Takk because I found it kind of average.

Kage 08-05-2007 02:09 PM

Much different than Takk. Less active, more ambient, stripped down instrumentation, etc.

Zebra 08-05-2007 02:11 PM

Takk is the better album by a landslide. I can barely sit through ( ).

The Door Mouse 08-05-2007 02:25 PM

Eh, I think I'd like Takk better. But I'll probably still get ( ) eventually.

YouGottaBeCrazy 08-05-2007 02:27 PM

i'm beginning to enjoy Untitled 2 again.

Eliminator 08-05-2007 02:33 PM

thats nice

TojesDolan 08-05-2007 03:38 PM

On Jaga Jazzist, I enjoy what we must because the band feels more grouped together than A Livingroom Hush, but as btqlwlst said, it's more energetic and pumped-up.

YouGottaBeCrazy 08-05-2007 04:08 PM

what we must gets kind of tiring after awhile of listening.

TojesDolan 08-05-2007 04:21 PM

But it's all in the drumbeat.

I know they're more sludgey and post-metal based, but I'm completely in love with Mouth of the Architect right now. "Boabab" is my favorite song at the moment.

What does everyone else think about them?

Zebra 08-07-2007 10:13 AM

I like 'em.

Shadius 08-07-2007 10:39 AM

I find a lot of post-rock kind of boring, but I admit that it's the kind of music can can grow to love if you give it time to sink in.

My favourite post rock bands are probably 65daysofstatic and Sigur Ros, tbh, because they don't fit the mould that a lot of post-rock i've heard seems to adhere to.

Shattered_Future 08-07-2007 11:36 AM

Mouth Of The Architect bored me quite a bit, to be honest.

Eliminator 08-07-2007 11:37 AM

the more you let post rock sink in the more it sucks

Angmar 08-07-2007 11:39 AM
the more you let post rock sink in the more it sucks
Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose then... not that I would know or anything :p

YouGottaBeCrazy 08-07-2007 11:49 AM
the more you let post rock sink in the more it sucks
depends the band

Kage 08-07-2007 12:29 PM
the more you let post rock sink in the more it sucks
This is true a lot of the time.

Moon Flavor 08-07-2007 12:31 PM

^yes. Bands like Explosions and Godspeed I could stand a little more as I listened to them for a while. Mogwai, This Will Destroy You, etc though....it just gets more predictable with each listen.

edit:yes@uncle phil and kage

Kage 08-07-2007 12:32 PM

Godspeed is something else. It's not fair discussing them with post rock bands because it's just not fair for all the mortals and their little guitar melodies drenched in reverb.

Wait...you actually think Godspeed is that much better than all the bands that sound like them?

Kage 08-07-2007 12:39 PM

Compare the world's greatest architectural achievement to a tiny, rickety lean-to in some desert.

If Antoine Saint Exupéry influenced a band it must be mildly good.

YouGottaBeCrazy 08-07-2007 12:55 PM

i wouldnt go that far kage

Kage 08-07-2007 12:59 PM

Then again you also dissed dredg's Catch Without Arms simply because it's poppy.

Moon Flavor 08-07-2007 12:59 PM
Compare the world's greatest architectural achievement to a tiny, rickety lean-to in some desert.
...no kidding?

Godspeed is just...i dunno....decent.

edit: I dissed it for that? No way, I listen to plenty of pop. If anything I dissed it because it sucks.

Kage 08-07-2007 01:07 PM

I was talking to YouGottaBeCrazy regarding the dredg thing.

YouGottaBeCrazy 08-07-2007 01:20 PM
Then again you also dissed dredg's Catch Without Arms simply because it's poppy.
No, I dissed it because half of the songs sound like generic pop rock, which is true. It's a half-baked album through and through. You're the one that was practically jizzing over it's songwriting.

Good call though.

Kage 08-07-2007 01:23 PM

No, that's not true. It sounds like dredg, except they used more structured song formats, which is okay, it's not a crime. You don't really know what you're talking about, anyway, because you called their earlier albums experimental.
