I've always wanted to hear this concert, a big moment in Pink Floyd's history.

In A Silent Way is an amazing album, it's almost perfect.

WYWH and DSOTM are equally sacred as far as I'm concerned, but I think DSOTM is much deeper philosophically speaking
/late

That's probably because DSOTM deals with universal issues that everyone faces at some time, like death, war, success, or even insanity. WYWH on the other hand is all taken from the bands personal experiences (those being Syd and how effed up the music business is).

I couldn't tell you which one I preferred, though.

Oh, alright. DSOTM.

Man, Pulse is fantastic. I'm listening to the album right now, but I'll probably watch the dvd later. For you guys who bought it, what do you think of the live show? They have so many awesome lights and lasers and stuff. And the pigs on "One Of These Days" would creep me out if I was at the show, but they still rule.

I bought Pulse a few days after its release, defiantly the greatest live show I've ever seen, they really pull out all the stops, all the laser lights and crazy stage stuff, brilliantly done.
More importantly though, the band were extremely on form, every single song sounds amazing in that show, and David's big outro solo on Numb is just..wow.

I just got PULSE, because today is my birthday. It is so amazing, I cant even stand it. Right now Im listening to Comfortably Numb, which is incredible, how it is dragged out to over 9 minutes... wow... Gilmour is unreal in this song.

magicbus 08-07-2006 10:18 AM

Yea I just listened to Comfortably Numb, that whole solo is awesome. I'll have to watch how he does it and pick up some of the newer stuff.

So it's pretty good? I've been meaning to pick it up at Best Buy, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

BigTrav415 08-07-2006 10:23 PM

I had a nightmare this weekend where MX got haxxed big-time and all these threads in R&M got deleted. All I remember is looking at the "Page 1 of _" at the bottom of the thread list, and it going from like 35 to 3 in like three seconds  The PF thread got deleted too :upset: It seemed so real that after I woke up I assumed it had actually happened until I got on today and realized that it was just a bad dream

I need to get PULSE, I keep putting it off for other musical purchases. I remember when I was first getting into Floyd and soon after I discovered this thread, somebody uploaded the Comfortably Numb video. I've still got it on my old computer. What an awesome video...

Apocalyptic Raids 08-08-2006 04:06 AM

In class today, we watched some of Live At Pompeii and The Wall: Live In Berlin (or whatever it was called)

Its amazing :thumb:

Riva 08-11-2006 01:07 AM

Oh mates, I am having the worst time of trying to decide what I like better, LAP or PULSE. :-/

standard 08-11-2006 01:10 AM

So me and my buddy smoked tonight.. And I realized, I don't like Floyd as much stoned as I do sober. I like the older stuff more than the later stoned, as vice-versa sober.

666Ozzfan 08-11-2006 01:48 AM

YAY! got Obscurred By The Clouds and A Saucerful Of secrets today. Not listened to it yet, but I can't wait :D

Backups are made from the forums regularly. R&M would not be lost forever

Riva, I'd say I like LAP better because its old school. The guys are still young, together, and they have that Meddle era sound (I don't really like TFC sound).Pulse is very good though, and I'm having a great time watching it.

Yesterday they had an Aussie Floyd concert on the public broadcasting channel and I caught the end half of Sorrow. I've never listened to it before so I didn't know what it was, but the solo and outro were pretty cool.

Danger Bird 08-11-2006 12:11 PM

Yeah, LAP>Pulse.

Grant 08-13-2006 12:07 PM

Pulse on DVD, mmmmmmm. That's some good shi right there.

Yeah I prefer LAP for the very same reason ...

And the Aussie Floyd are cool; saw them live last year at the MEN (UK) and they never put a foot wrong. Of course due to the fact that Floyd will never tour again it is great to see a tribute act like this. They are without doubt the next best thing ...

The best part of the show last year was when they played One Of These Days ... after the one line of vocals the lights flashed and there was a HUGE inflatable pink kangaroo on stage! Awesome :thumb:

standard 08-13-2006 12:50 PM

I watched the same thing Magicbus, on the Aussie Floyd.

I haven't seen Pulse yet, although I want it bad, I've seen LAP and it was damn good.. But I still like the later era Floyd more, so I'd probally like Pulse more.

Riva 08-14-2006 06:21 PM

It's pretty bloody good, if you can ignore how goofy Guy Pratt looks. :p

Ephemeral 08-14-2006 06:57 PM

Guy Pratt kept bothering me throughout the entire thing.

:(

Then he pulled out one of those Steinberger headless basses ugh.

Riva 08-14-2006 06:58 PM

Oh god, that thing is so ugly. Was that for Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)?

Absolutely.

And have you SEEN rick wright's beard? Christ! He was actually genuinely cool!

I think so.

He had it out for a few other parts though too I believe. I was relieved to see him pull out an old P-Bass after though. His hair and face still pissed the fuck out of me though.

:(

magicbus 08-15-2006 09:05 PM
Absolutely.

Yea he's the man. And he has that sweet yellow sweater somewhere in there.

Ephemeral 08-15-2006 09:43 PM

Yeah with the pink unicorns and shi

man I'm gonna watch that again tonight

Ephemeral 08-16-2006 02:47 PM

oh ffs the DVD didn't play omg

magicbus 08-16-2006 03:15 PM

I watched it again last night

It's so cool watching how they do all that stuff. And the cool sweater I was talking about is when Rick is playing Us & Them on the piano.

Riva 08-16-2006 06:53 PM

Haha, I had to watch it for the shirts that they wore.

Best part of LAP, when Dave does the vocals with the wind whipping his hair across his face. It's so otherworldly and brilliant.

And I've always said that Rick Wright is the man.
