Tom uses a 2x Mesa-Boogie Cabinets for distorted sound and 1x Marshall JCM 900 (or something) for clean. The sound is rad. :thumb:
what head does ge use for the cabs?

the_uber_penguin 07-17-2005 02:52 PM

Marshall heads

shangbang 07-17-2005 02:56 PM
what head does ge use for the cabs?
Not sure but most likely a Marhall JCM 900 or a Mesa Boogie Rectifier

dancetomdance182 07-17-2005 08:09 PM

He uses Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifiers, and for cleans Marshall JCM 900. He used to blend them together.

how can u have two heads adn use em both? so he uses a rectifier fro distorion but for the clean tracks he uses a marshall jcm 900. does he use one head and two diff cabs? if so which head? but if he does have two seperate heads how is it possible to use both some kind of foot switch?

He uses a A/B footswitch. I forgot which brand it was, but it allows 2 amps to be used at the same time, or 1 at a time. In a guitarcenter interview, Tom said that he loves the dist. of Mesas, but not the cleans, but loved the cleans of Marshalls, but didn't like the dist. So he mixed them together. Also, he has 3 cabs.

redrumsixsix6 07-17-2005 10:41 PM

^^alright thanks! it all makes sense now
Mark seems to be better at writing pop songs, while Tom is good at writing the more "meaningful" songs.
I don't know about you, but "Apple Shampoo" and "Lemmings" are pretty meaningful. There's others too, "Cacophany", "Waggy" and so on.

Not that Tom is bad, in fact he's really good, I'm just saying Mark shouldn't be written off.

it would have to be a channel swithching device before it reaches both heads. There is a band down at my local who has a similar set up, because the guitarist works at a music shop and he gets to use the gear on the weekends :thumb:

10571z 07-18-2005 12:58 AM
Not sure but most likely a Marhall JCM 900 or a Mesa Boogie Rectifier
Tom's rig:

2 Mesa Boogie 4 x 12 cabinets and 1 Marshall 4 x 12 cabinets run through 3 Marshall heads.

Untitled 07-18-2005 04:20 AM

Toms recent rig looks like its 3 mesa refracters 4x12, and on top of each one of those he has a 2X12 mesa.

10571z 07-18-2005 05:46 AM

^^^thats exactly right

he doesnt use the marshall anymore

Untitled 07-18-2005 08:35 AM

the problem with those sites is that you get one type of people and there not that much debateing or jokeing around about what other people say

and it is not a fun as sites like these
