The nephew? I'd leave him out too. I wouldn't count him just cause he wasn't with the band for very long. Not even worth adding.

rippa32 08-22-2005 03:13 AM

I would like to clear a few things up. Bon Scott never played drums, this is a rumour as he played occasionaly with previous bands and before anyone says anything, he was not a roadie. That rumour came around cause Bon used to drive them around a lot and people assumed he was their chaffuer.

BassMasta2487 08-22-2005 12:30 PM

He only played drums once. It was just a gag to cover for Phil Rudd being late to the gig.

houses_of_holy 08-23-2005 02:17 PM

Does anyone reckon AC/DC will do Donington next year to coincide with their new album. If they do it would be be great!!!!!!!!

_HiGhVoLtAgE_ 08-23-2005 03:47 PM

didnt dave evans leave them right before a gig and they found bon scott at the last second?
just somethin i seen on the internet

BassMasta2487 08-23-2005 11:24 PM

I never figured out the exact details of that. But it's generally accepted that Bon knew them before he was the singer and they let him in because they liked him and he just ended up staying. Beyond that I never bothered to learn. I should. I'm gonna be up all night now.

lightningmetal666 08-23-2005 11:31 PM

Another question that'll get ya scratching yer noodles. Right before Phil split with the band, who do you think won that fist fight between him and Malcolm?

lightningmetal666 08-23-2005 11:34 PM
acdc made me take up guitar :thumb:
Same here. After hearing for those about to rock and Hells Bells I knew that I had to play.

Yeah I used to think that too, but I picked up a biography of Bon so I know lotsa stuff about him now.

I have a suspicion they will. If they do then I'm going.
When is this new album hitting the shelves?
Its meant to be out either end of this year or early next year.

We weren't talking about in the studio, or on a regular basses, but for a gig when Phil showed up late he did.

Phil. He's noticably bigger than Malcolm. Actually I think he's the tallest in the band right now. Plus Malcolm is kinda skinny.

YaNaSdEeP 08-25-2005 09:40 PM

Any band that can survive for 18 albums deserves some credit. What other rock band has done that?

BassMasta2487 08-25-2005 10:27 PM

Def Leppard hasn't been around that long, but they have yet to break up...so I guess they're on the way. And if they can get through a drummer with one arm, what can't they get through?

I'd say malcolm, cuz angus would've definitely have gotten involved and we all know how crazy angus can get. :thumb:

I bet that a drummer with one arm could play all of AC/DC's songs.

Eh, they're not a drumming band anyways. they're a guitar band.

BassMasta2487 08-26-2005 09:28 AM

Either way...the dude has one arm. You can't deny that that's gotta be tough. I play drums too, and I can't imagine doing it with one arm. Could be cause I have an acoustic kit, but still.

Follow The Reaper 08-26-2005 04:12 PM

Yeah, but he has bass pedals to simulate the snare and things like that, but its still got to be hard, but it is his job, he shouldn't complain. I know you didn't say that, I was jus adding.

BassMasta2487 08-26-2005 07:54 PM

I know, but we probably shouldn't turn this into a Def Leppard thread. My fault.

lightningmetal666 08-26-2005 10:05 PM

I finally got a bunch of my AC/DC CD's back from my friend. I swear, the guy borrows like a bunch at a time and takes forever giving them back. We'll just see if he'll borrow them again...................

Anyways, it's just great to be able to rock out to my Highway to Hell and FTATR.
I haven't listened to AC/DC in a while so I'm kinda "Rediscovering" them.

Slash Jr. 08-26-2005 10:18 PM

AC/DC is one of the greatest bands in rock n' roll period. Angus is an amazing guitar player..although sometimes overrated..id bet half of the ppl on the site were influenced one way or another by AC/DC...they didnt care what anyone thought and went out there and gave u rock n roll..and thats what its about.

lightningmetal666 08-26-2005 10:27 PM

One thing that bothered me when ppl flamed this band was that they said that AC/DC were nothing but a bunch of 3 chord hacks. What burns me even more is that they (at least the ppl that I know) are all fans of the Ramones (I like the Ramones keep this in mind). If I remember correctly, I saw an interview were Johnny was saying that he only knew how to play a G barre chord and an A barre chord. That's it. I'm like ok, you hate AC/DC because they only play 3 chords but for a while the guitarist of your favorite band can only play 2?
The logic just doesn't add up.

thunderzstruck 08-26-2005 10:34 PM

This is coming from a HUGE ex-Ac/dc fan.

Ac/dc was ALL I listened to about a year ago. I could not fathom how anyone couldn't like them. But as I got into more music ac/dc got REALLY bland and... simple. Now I love simple music sometimes (I listen to greenday SOMETIMES) But as you go on in music you will find out how clinched they are

...I now can't listen to more than 3 songs by them. I'm not saying they're bad (everyones opinions) but that is the general flow of music tastes simple---> complex

/Doesn't have anything to do with anything but it doesn't matter

Romencer17 08-26-2005 10:48 PM

Dude AC/DC rocks. And Malcolm is the better guitarist. He started the band, and he was actually thinking of getting keyboards in the band instead of his little brother, Angus.

lightningmetal666 08-26-2005 11:23 PM

We all know malcolm is great, but angus does deserve some credit. While most of us guitar players can play pentatonic scales as good as the next, he can at least make them sound good.

thunderzstruck 08-27-2005 09:29 AM

ummm technically Malcolm hasn't shown he's the better guitarist. Angus is always praiising him but truthfully Malcolm just stands in the back and plays open chords, not that hard.

lightningmetal666 08-27-2005 11:26 AM

Well..... malcolm does play harder chords than open, but not by much. His sense of time and rhythm is fantastic.

ummm the rythm they play in ac/dc is VERY simple. VERY, I'm not flaming or anything (ac/dc does write some catchy tunes) but anyone playing for more than a year could play any ac/dc rythm. For a good rythm section check out Rush, their bassist sings AND plays. Basslines aren't easy too
