what about the strokes? it seems like ppl dont like them too much on this forum, but i gotta say that they're one of my favorite new bands.
favorite classic rock bands: the doors, big brother and the holding company, james taylor |
The strokes are alright. But they aren't anything special.
Anybody seen the dvd of the last perfomance by The band? That was awesome :amaze: |
The strokes are alright. But they aren't anything special.
Anybody seen the dvd of the last perfomance by The band? That was awesome :amaze:
no but i heard it was on thanksgiving and they bought over a 100 turkeys. |
Whenever people talk about classic rock they talk about bands like black sabbath and ACDC, but what about the all the other great bands that weren't so heavy. Bands like "The shadows" and "Creedance clearwater revival". After all, those are the sounds that bands these days are trying to recreate. Just listen to and songs by bands like the white stripes and the black keys and you'll hear the bluesy rock that i'm talking about. While i have great respect for Sabbath and everyone else, i think we should be praising the ones that came up with the whole idea of rock.
peace out.
ummmmmmmmmmm yea... actually read the thread tough guy... |
 You have officially blown my mind :amaze:

i'm honored, but how so? was it the 400 turkeys at the Band's Fairwell concert? they also had like enough apple cider to fill a swimming pool. o and the Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, and more. I think Neil Young was there too. must of been one hell of a concert. That is one concert i wish i was at... |
Yes all of the turkeys .
Anybody who was anybody was there. If they weren't performing they were at least watching. Clapton was godly. |
I think that if you don't appreciate and acknoledge classic rock then you are an arse because without it there would be no rock or anything, and given the circumstanses and less amount of equipment they would have, they owned. Favourite band Pink Floyd with Syd, quite simply amazing.

why doesn't many people like rush??
any ways my list pink floyd sabbath hendrix the doors the grateful dead rush the beatles zeppelin and the list goes on... |
i'm sure it does.

70's Rock is overrated.
60's > all |
I don't really care when music was made as long as it was good. My favorite time for music was 65-75. Before all of the crap. Blues roots were hard to miss then. A lot of bands in the late 70s to now sound so generic, however the blues can never bore me.
|
70's Rock is overrated.
60's > all
Agreed. |
i like a lot of stuff from the 60's, 70's and even some from the 80's. it's all good. This isn't really classic rock, but do u know what was a good song. that song by that band sister hazel in the early/mid 90's "well it's hard to say what it is i see in you wonder if i'll always be with you". i just like that song...
|
I like 60's too. Some early 70's, but I'm not much of a fan of the latter zeppelin and floyd, for instance.
|
late sixties are where it's at.

"To those of you who rock...I salute you"
You all rock. You are right. Rock is on the comback. Although at my school it is a small majority. GO THE YARDBIRDS AND ZEPPELIN. THE RAMONES. DEEP PURPLE. THE EAGLES. ERIC CLAPTON. THE WHO, THE DOORS AND ALL THOSE I FORGOT WHO ROCK (the beatles suck dude). I think it is bnads like ac/dc and the darkness which are very similar to the old rock styles. As well as some of the old bands like the eagles and deep purple and the who are haveing tours(eagles last tour ...cant wait). And franz ferdinand is gonna get very big soon i rekon ...hes really good. |
If The Beatles and The Who are classic rock, how about The Kinks? I'm really getting into them now, but I never see them mentioned on these forums. :amaze:
I love the Kinks. a lot. They are really quite an underrated band... |

The kinks are classic rock but I can't say I really listen to them.
|
^^^You suck. I don't even go to concerts.
What an idiot. Live concerts are even better than the albums. The whole experience of it is great. Maybe you just can't afford to buy tickets cause you're too stupid to get a job. |
yep my concert lineup is amazing. and friday i'm gonna see Festival Express. That documentary about The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, and the Band on tour in a train in Canada. It should be very good. at least the soundtrack will be lol.
