Oh! Who is that beast of a man?

I dressed up as a flanno, greasy hair, dunlop volleys, tight jeans, black t-shirt bogan. Not the 80's rock bogan.

that sucks. What changes are the making to the forums?

bottlerocket 10-31-2004 09:35 PM

Now I'm pissed off. I've spent all night debating various things, each in well measured, mature fashions. On MSN, in the politics forum, and in the mod forum.

On MSN we argued for ages, before boiling it down to a fundamental difference in ideology and calling it a night. In the Politics forum we argued long and hard, and eventually finished the topic, and moved onto other things. In the mod forum, (the most important here, we were debating a critical change to the way the site works which I am very much against, whereas the others were just philosophy) partway through the debate, my principle opponent, who is a supermod, and therefore has mod power in the mod forum, which I do not, just says 'I still disagree' and then closes the thread.

That's just a fucking cowardly dodge, abusing mod powers while he's at it.
That's awful. People are so unreasonable...

May we hear the changes or is it secret mod stuff?

a blunnie is a boot, and a thong is not what you think it is.

No actually. Never heard of the movie even.

That just came out of my brilliant mind.

Wintermute 10-31-2004 09:36 PM

No, it's normally really good in there, but you're right, I'm not saying who.

If it comes through, you'll all know about it.

Let's just say I've got an 'I told you so' speech on standby.

Well, anyway, anything else going on?

Wintermute 10-31-2004 09:39 PM

Oh hell, it's no secret, it's been mentioned in the site forum, for some reason...

It's a proposed user ranking system, based on an utterly relative scale, which can only lead to elitism, complaints and damage to the online community.

e p 10-31-2004 09:40 PM

As if post count didn't seperate users enough.

bottlerocket 10-31-2004 09:40 PM

^ Against against against.

The Pit is for, Guitar is for, and bass is against?

Wintermute 10-31-2004 09:42 PM

Unfortunately DBJ is for, and his vote counts heavily. Bartender, JmE and Scarred4Life are all against. MX hasn't seen it yet.

ocdrumandbass 10-31-2004 09:42 PM

wow. theres a secret mod forum?

bottlerocket 10-31-2004 09:43 PM

^ DBJ? What forums do these mods run?

Where do LR and madthumbs stand on this? I'd imagine they're against (I know LR would be, but I doubt she even knows whats going on).

The numbers should over rule DBJ but then again it seems fairly un-democratic with what you just explained. Also shouldnt they ask the members?

ocdrumandbass 10-31-2004 09:44 PM

ive been here for a year and im 4000 posts behind some n00bs in the pit :(

Wintermute 10-31-2004 09:45 PM

LR is still AWOL, Madthumbs hasn't commented/hasn't seen it.

Bartender does CD reviews, JmE and Scarred are supermods. DBJ (DoubleBassJim) is an assistant Admin, he's second only to MX himself.

Hah, get over to the site forum and voice displeasure. So far the members love it.

e p 10-31-2004 09:46 PM

I'm aware that DBJ is the highest.

Yet one would think the number of mods/supers would outrule him.

Ranked in what way? posts? or time here?

Wintermute 10-31-2004 09:48 PM

Things are pretty informal usually, there's no dedicated system for deciding this sort of thing. It's understood that MX will read all the views before deciding, I think.

Is jeremy behind it? Or is it the mods decisions?

Wintermute 10-31-2004 09:49 PM
Ranked in what way? posts? or time here?
'Contribution to the site' - Which is impossible to measure. It's utterly relative and a matter of opinion. Which will lead to arguments.

Many mods and supers agree with it though.

I want to be an elitist. :)

bottlerocket 10-31-2004 09:50 PM

Whats a supermod *feels stupid but thinks he's got a pretty good idea on what it is*?

I say get rid of post count all together.
Is jeremy behind it? Or is it the mods decisions?
It's StageFrightKen's idea. Apparently it's worked well on other forums, so I asked him for a link to one, and on that site the ranking system was based on monetary donations, which are easy to measure, and brook no debate.

Jeremy either hasn't seen it yet or hasn't commented.

That's the bunny.

And a supermod has the power to ban users, and has mod powers in ever forum on the boards. The only thing I can do outside bass is access the mod forum and see users in stealth mode... ME FOR SUPER! :D :upset:

Foxfire 10-31-2004 09:56 PM

Maybe at 10,000 posts...

:p

bottlerocket 10-31-2004 09:57 PM

^ Definitely...

I posted a small little post in the thread. I know it won't mean anything, but it's something. If it helps, I guess.
