nice review dude, i didn't know you wrote for that site
yeah, since july/august last year. it's a pretty great gig, i get a good deal of promos and stuff. the guy who owns it and the staff writers are all pretty awesome, and the owner recently started up the DC label/distro too.
That seemed like an incredibly vague description.
my description? well it's black metal, what more do you want me to say

RetiredAt21 06-04-2010 09:15 PM

This is good. I like the vocals, their very distant and I like that a lot. Riffs and drums are typical dsbm but still good, very much enjoying this, good rec bro.

rasputin 06-04-2010 09:16 PM

which one aer you listening to first?

RetiredAt21 06-04-2010 09:17 PM

Toward the Depths

rasputin 06-04-2010 09:28 PM

ah okay, awesome

FatalEnergy 06-05-2010 01:46 AM

Does anyone know what the **** VKBM is?

Bleekill 06-05-2010 02:11 AM

Volcanic Kvlt Black Metal

Morumbar 06-05-2010 03:24 AM

Lol, VKBM. Never heard that one before. Some people really like to make up new genres.

Woods Of Desolation sounds really good. Liked the two new songs on their myspace. I'll check out one of their albums sometime, but I've been more into fast and aggressive bm lately.

bloozclooz 06-05-2010 07:39 AM
Volcanic Kvlt Black Metal
so what makes black metal volcanic then?

Meatplow 06-05-2010 08:29 AM

vikings?

dUSK 06-05-2010 08:53 AM

+1 for Woods of Desolation talk. Good band.

Recommendations for similar material are welcomed.

RetiredAt21 06-05-2010 09:19 AM

Yo can someone upload the first two Morbid Ceremony releases for me?? Please??

rasputin 06-05-2010 09:20 AM

didn't you ask last week or somethng

RetiredAt21 06-05-2010 09:20 AM

I don't remember. Someone do it goddammit.

Niflheim II 06-05-2010 01:14 PM

yeah id like those as well, my old PC crashed and I lost a ton of old old Morbid Ceremony **** and I still have a few covers left of those first two demos so I need to make a master to dub.

RetiredAt21 06-05-2010 07:47 PM

Yeah so somebody do that.

bloozclooz 06-05-2010 08:06 PM
I don't remember. Someone do it goddammit.
are you talking about their 2008 demos?

RetiredAt21 06-05-2010 08:33 PM

I don't remember when he first posted them but I want them.

bloozclooz 06-05-2010 09:27 PM

knew a guy that had some bothersome tape collection. ripping a tape to an mp3 format sounds tedious.

Brew 06-05-2010 09:29 PM

if its anything like ripping a vinyl to mp3 then its not that bad

Bleekill 06-06-2010 12:22 AM

Since so many people are masturbating over the new Watain I decided to listen to it tonight. I think it's better than "Sworn" for sure but it's still just boring modern black metal. I don't really think anybody on this site gives a **** but all the press has been ranting about it.

Nostalgia 06-06-2010 01:03 AM

i have them on tape cause im not a moocher fag

TzarChasm 06-06-2010 03:08 AM

Just discovered The Axis of Perdition and Blut Aus Nord today. Breaking my face to The Work Which Transforms God right now. </randomposting>

DBlitz 06-06-2010 03:33 AM

Blut Aus Nord are good, The Work Which Transforms God is my favourite by them. I need to listen to them more though.

Meatplow 06-06-2010 05:22 AM
if its anything like ripping a vinyl to mp3 then its not that bad
from the guides i've read doing a vinyl rip properly is a pretty complicated (and expensive) process

cassettes aren't difficult in comparison

eh, i'm happy with all the rips i've done especially the more recent ones. if you want damn near perfect rips then it can be expensive, but getting the best out of vinyl in general can be expensive.

Bleekill 06-06-2010 10:44 AM

Everything Blut Aus Nord has done is pretty awesome.

Angmar 06-06-2010 12:11 PM

Newest album is the best.

Six Foot Revolver 06-06-2010 01:08 PM

Listening to the newest right now, only one I've heard though.

FatalEnergy 06-06-2010 01:16 PM

I've only heard the first two Blut aus Nord, but they're both pretty sweet.

The Axis of Perdition would be cool if they ****ing chilled out the programmed drums. They go way overboard with it, and it totally kills the atmosphere.

foreverendeared 06-06-2010 05:25 PM

m'kay so Winterkaelte is ****ing great, thanks for that rec

rasputin 06-06-2010 05:44 PM

you need to get the s/t and nacht as well, i prefer those two more. kristall und isa isn't bad either.

TzarChasm 06-06-2010 06:09 PM

Paysage D'hiver's self-titled album is stellar! I am absolutely loving this genre more and more, on a daily basis.

witchxrapist 06-06-2010 06:10 PM
Newest album is the best.
memoria vetusta i is better than ii
you need to get the s/t and nacht as well, i prefer those two more. kristall und isa isn't bad either.
I like Nacht more and more every time I listen to it. And the s/t is fantastic as everyone already knows. Welt Aus Eis is one of the best black metal songs I've ever heard.

EDIT: regarding Blut Aus Nord, I think I like Ultima Thulee the best but Memoria Vetusta II is almost as good.

TzarChasm 06-06-2010 06:17 PM

So far the only albums I have by Blut aus Nord are Memoria Vetusta II (Dialogue With the Stars) and The Work Which Transforms God, and I love them both. I don't care if Blut aus North migrates entirely from black metal into outright shoegaze—my opinion is that whatever Vindsval sets his hand to is apparently pure gold.

But if I had to pick between the two, I think I'd have to give the edge to Memoria Vetusta II (Dialogue With the Stars). That album is an absolute masterpiece, a veritable six-star, flawless composition.

As for The Axis of Perdition, all I've got so far are Deleted Scenes from the Transition Hospital and Physical Illucinations in the Sewer of Xuchilbara. I prefer their newer work, judging by these two albums alone.

Can't wait to pick up some Woods of Desolation, too. Dammit, I need more money.

RetiredAt21 06-06-2010 06:18 PM

Never cared for the Axis of Perdition, gets on my nerves.

FatalEnergy 06-06-2010 06:19 PM

The stole my idea 5 years before I knew they existed.

I planed on doing some dark ambient, industrialized black metal (with some funeral doom influence though) about Silent Hill. They do it kind of gay though.

I had an album already planned, and then I found out about them, and put it on hold.

I would do it far better, I should pick up where I left off.

witchxrapist 06-06-2010 06:20 PM

The thing about The Work Which Transforms God is that it's one of the most SATAN sounding albums ever. Completely ****ing eerie and different.

TzarChasm 06-06-2010 06:20 PM

It's something I sure as hell wouldn't listen to while stoned, that much I can say for sure. But I love the depravity in their music. There's something remarkable about a band producing music solely for its ability to jar the listener and set their teeth on edge. I find it sickeningly compelling. Perhaps this is a reflection of my state of mind...
The thing about The Work Which Transforms God is that it's one of the most SATAN sounding albums ever. Completely ****ing eerie and different.
Vindsval, the vocalist and guitarist, made the following statement:

“Blut Aus Nord is an artistic concept. We don’t need to belong to a specific category of people to exist. If black metal is just this subversive feeling and not a basic musical style, then Blut Aus Nord is a black metal act. But if we have to be compared to all these childish satanic clowns, please let us work outwards [from] this pathetic circus. This form of art deserves something else than these mediocre bands and their old music composed 10 years before by someone else."

From Blut aus Nord's Wikipedia page, and I couldn't be any happier than I am, reading this. Nor could I have phrased it any better, myself.
