I got my hair cut today. I feel somewhat like a hXc lesbian who will listen to the Blood Brothers and have kinky sex, then kick the man's* ass with my new combat boots.

*men because I'm wayy too hXc to actually do other girls.
Canada is really exciting.
don't lie

xizoesira 01-26-2006 07:16 PM

No, it's true. Canada is more exciting than America.

Take Alaska for example. They're American, and that's why the small towns are proud of their Wal-Marts.

Electrocution 01-26-2006 07:19 PM

I want to go to Alaska.

You're so indie. Why don't you go listen to your GYBE vinyls.

mentalstephanie 01-26-2006 09:04 PM

Alaska looks boring boring BORING (except during the summer of course), but boring boring BORING.
I want to go to England more than anywhere else.

TheMook 01-26-2006 09:36 PM

What do you guys think of this song I just recorded? I was just playing around with the guitar and made up some lyrics and recorded it. This is the first take, what do you guys think of the idea of it? Should I record it again, and flesh it out? Should I give up on music? Should I just leave it how it is--raw and real? You guys decide!

Zmev 01-26-2006 11:33 PM

I just woke up and I wish I didn't.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 01-27-2006 05:39 AM

England seems like it'd completely bore me, it always looks so grey and miserable, every time I see it.

superpeer 01-27-2006 12:04 PM

Just picked up:

Pixies - Bossanova
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing

Am I indie yet?

Ah, I went to London once, it was awesome. It was crazy expensive, though.

well first you need something that can help you keep time, because you were off a lot. I liked the beginning of it, but that was it. No real interesting harmony, melody, or anything.

Also it was pretty atonal. :p

moderaterock222 01-27-2006 12:38 PM

London fooking sucks

Babe, come on now. You know me, when do I ever have anything nice to say about anything? Not very often. So you have to know that I'm lying when I'm talking about Canada.

I buy all my albums on Vinyl and I don't even have a record player.

I saw Colin Meloy last night. First opening act was Amy Annelle. Pretty songs, but a bit boring. Laura Veirs was the next opener, who put on a pretty good show. Interesting songwriting and some great guitar work. On multiple songs, she would start using a pedal to make loops, so a giant symphony of her own vocals and guitar would begin to form. Very cool.

Colin Meloy himself was really wonderful. His random props (a sheep statue, a skull, and a ship, each of which he had named) and anecdotes were highly amusing. Plus, most performers tug around their bottle of water, but no, Colin Meloy is too cool for that. He instead had a bottle of red wine to replenish himself between songs.

The majority of what he played was Decermbists songs, so when he would get to an electric guitar/string/female vocal solo, he'd make some comment about it while he and the rest of the audience would hum/sing the part. He played two songs with John Wesley Harding, and sounded great all through the night. I highly recommend seeing him if he comes around to your town.
Nah, London's the shoddy bit.
What's the good bit then? London is so magical...I could sit and watch life go by there for hours.

I guess it's because I don't go all that often but I bloody love London. If you can get away from all the commercial areas there are some of trendiest yet most tradtional shops and venues around. I'm going there on Sunday and plan on strolling down Denmark Street to stare at guitars I can't afford, then I'm off to London Astoria for Corrosion of Conformity! w00t.

br3ad_man 01-27-2006 06:35 PM

England is nice. I really liked London, but I've heard many times that it's only good if you're visiting. I also went to York, which was pretty nice too.

I want to live in New York one day though, because that's still the best city I've been to. Maybe my mind will change when I visit Melbourne.

br3ad_man 01-27-2006 07:10 PM

I lent two of my DVDs to someone who is really clumsy last night. If they come back scratched I will probably cry.
