The Chameleons UK - Tony Fletcher Walked On Water EP

Oh man, I must hear more of this band. This is like, really dreamy post-punk. Really good stuff.

I've also been mad into that Oxes album that was uploaded in the mailing list. I can hear the similarities to Don Caballero.

perriwinkle 02-14-2007 06:44 PM

glad to hear you liked it man

did anyone check out cinemechanica

madjack eyes are open wide open wide!

or something. Strange Times is a great album.

Robert Crumb 02-14-2007 06:52 PM

Snowgoons - German Lugers
Wisemen - Wisemen Approaching

And still Bill Callahan's latest. There are about three pretty ****ing nice songs on it ("Diamond Dancer," "Sycamore," "A Man Needs a Woman Or...") but the rest is kinda eh. I guess I kinda feel that way about a good deal of the Smog albums I've heard.

Eliminator 02-14-2007 07:30 PM

Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West

Such a good album.

el doctor 02-14-2007 07:37 PM

The Beatles - Let It Be... Naked

I hadn't listened to this since around when it came out. Track by track, it's stronger than the original, especially with its versions of "Across the Universe" and "Let It Be".

Pulp - Different Class

I'm not gonna lie - I only had the singles until I found this for a few dollars last week. There's a song here and there that falls flat, but otherwise, everything is just classic.

Of Montreal - Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?

It's definitely a more demanding listening experience than I would expect from Of Montreal, but I really like it so far. Plus, the packaging is damn cool.

Really cool.

Kayetan 02-14-2007 08:58 PM

Jackson C. Frank - those other songs he made

Boilermaker 02-14-2007 09:06 PM

Deerhoof - Friend Oppertunity

It's grown on me. I really like it now.

wait what song?

my little lady friend got me that hot chip - the warning so i'm listening to that. its pretty good.
i also made her get a deerhoof pin but she won't wear it. so i dumped her for not being indie rock enuf.

Arvo Pärt

sr800bkBassist 02-14-2007 11:22 PM

Well first off it sucks.

Kayetan 02-14-2007 11:33 PM
anyways

Sufjan Stevens - Illnois

completely brilliant
123. Seriously probably the best album of the year.

sr800bkBassist 02-14-2007 11:33 PM

i think the melodies are well written, and it's definitely a step above most current stuff.
obviously dosn'tsound like their other stuff, but that doesn't matter. it shouldn't really be compared. if i had t compare it, it'd definitely not match up. but it's good on its own.

A Sun Came is good, but it has never really amazed me or anything.

perriwinkle 02-14-2007 11:48 PM

i duno if i'd say that

i really like Year Of Our Lord from Enjoy Your Rabbit

Interstate 02-15-2007 06:10 AM

Klashnekoff - The Sagas Of

br3ad_man 02-15-2007 07:16 AM

Damien Jurado - And Now That I'm In Your Shadow

Man this is good.

ATM 02-15-2007 07:31 AM

Bushwick Bill - Phantom of the Rapra

Neoteric 02-15-2007 10:48 AM

Patti Smith

yeah

JonM 02-15-2007 10:56 AM

There's this DJ named Ricardo Villalobos who I feel like I've plugged a few times but too subtly for anyone to check him out. You really should. Get either Thé Au Harem D'Archimède or Fizheuer Zieheuer. Or both.

ATM 02-15-2007 10:57 AM

Menomena - Friend and Foe

This is really damn good, try and track down a copy.

JonM 02-15-2007 11:00 AM

While on the subject of Menomena, I also strongly suggest you check out their debut, I Am The Fun Blame Monster. Not only is that an anagram for The First Menomena Album, which is awesome, it is also awesome in a musical sense.

perriwinkle 02-15-2007 11:03 AM

what sort of music are they?

if thats hard to answer, what bands would you relate them to

JonM 02-15-2007 11:05 AM

It's like very intelligent, not overly poppy indie rock, but it's not exactly rock either. Read the part in this article about their songwriting process, and imagine a group of technically proficient rock musicians writing songs like that:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menomena

perriwinkle 02-15-2007 11:14 AM

sounds like Apollo Sunshine

i'll have to get i am the fun blame monster

i will read the wikipedia article directly after my refreshing shower

which is to begin in approximately two minutes

Kyle 02-15-2007 11:37 AM

All I have is Friend and Foe, I quite like it.

Eliminator 02-15-2007 12:02 PM

I'm getting a Lucinda Williams album right now.

dunno why

Luxor 02-15-2007 08:20 PM

Listening to the new Modest Mouse right now. Kind of boring the first time around, it will probably grow on me.
