I'd say...yes, he does. No offense BV, but that wasn't just some sort of random outburst, it did have a specified point to a respected user, and a mod at that. If nothing else you kind of portrayed the example of the sort of flaming that we do not want on the forums. I think the whole scenario could of just as easily been passed off if tensions weren't as high, but it's not Wintermute's job to back down in such matters.

I don't think that ban was fair. Talking crap to a mod shouldn't be grounds for banning. You should have just deleted his thread and gave him a warning.

words are a powerful tool, especialy on the internet since thats 99% of how we communicate, if used improperly they are wepons. Do i think he should be banned, maybe for a day, do i think the thread should be closed YES.

I don't see much common sense around "casual thread 19" and all of its contents either. Come on..a non mod has never made a casual before..

I was banned for a month, more than people who spam the boards. I wouldn't have ever done it again with a warning, but the banning was just unneccesary.

Personally i think he deserved the banning, and lets face it we all know Casual Threads are made by mods only... And if we didn't it only takes a bit of observation...

i think that the outburst was rather inappropriate, all winter said was (basically) that you shouldn't have made the thread, then you flipped out.

i say that there should be a short term ban, i won't say any length though.

Not yet, but I have all the supermods on my IMs, so effectively I can. I also have access to the 'general non-supermod banning thread'.

I think he should just be forced to log on with that screen-name for a week. Sort of like a Scarlet Letter, maybe he'll go and help the helpless too.
