Yes, I have every piece I write fully orchestrated in my head when I start, and then I try to match it as close as I can.
That's amazing..I have enough trouble transfering what's in my head onto paper.

Leper 09-02-2005 12:42 AM
What do you mean?

Do mean a melody?

Or do you mean tuning?
I mean a melody.

Illmatic 09-02-2005 12:46 AM
I mean a melody.
Watch the double post :-\

But yeah, I usually have a melody in my head...when I try to write lyrics I need a melody that I came up with.

Even then I phail miserably :-\

EDIT: I don't think I can accurately describe how infuriating "Underclassman" is.
The movie or the students?
The movie.

It's bad enough that the music looks legitmately terrible, but personally I'm even offended by it. The last thing we (speaking as a black man) need is Nick ****ing Cannon shucking and jiving through a terrible, ugly, demeaning, stereotypical "Oh snap! I'm black!" role

Kurtz 09-02-2005 01:13 AM

Well you shouldn't take him seriously as an actor in the first place.

Illmatic 09-02-2005 01:13 AM

Does that really make a difference?

Kurtz 09-02-2005 01:21 AM

I guess all the white girls like it

night

SonorKen 09-02-2005 01:45 AM

I write music a little different than most. I usually write some very detailed lyrics. Next I sit down behind my kit and try to put the emotions that the song is dealing with in music. It is complicated to explain. You would be amazed tho once you start thinking and creating in this mindset how much great material you create.

the2stranger 09-02-2005 03:32 AM

I just sit behind my keyboard and depending on my mood, I just play stuff.
if I like it, I keep it

Close. It's about 7:30 over here and I'm just passing the time until my ride comes to get me for school. We'll be listening to music (HIS music) on the way there too.

But no smoking. :(

Seeing as there are too many stupid people (black, white, or whatever) who will buy into it?

I remember hearing somewhere that a study was taken to show the effects of the recording industry's media on the younger generations, and the results showed that a large portion of people who listen to corporate packaged rappers (i.e. Snoop Dogg et al) either try to become criminals or lie about having committed crimes in the past. They also have taken up a mindset of misogyny, refusing to affiliate with any woman who isn't braindead.

In counterpoint, there is a growing number of women in lower class neighborhoods who are trying to work their way up the economic ladder to eke out a better life and are treated with disdain by the above-mentioned dipshiits.

Now, on the one hand it's a shame that MTV has succeeded in taking a legitimate musical form and turned it into a watered-down sack of crap that results in a "counterculture" that effectively does absolutely nothing.

But... on the other it's probably better that these idiots stay the hell away from intelligent, ambitious women because if they really are going to let a dumbass of a rapper tell them how to live their lives, they clearly aren't the best genestock anyway.

Soulseek hasn't worked for me for a long time, on any computer or connection.

So, I had a fun night tonight, as I told Bartender on MSN.

Basically, I went to a Stoplight Party for University. You wear Green for available, Yellow for undecided, and Red for taken. So, as you can imagine, we have a big bar area, with about 90% of the blokes in green, and about 90% of the girls in red.

story of my life...:upset

RCA 09-02-2005 08:11 AM

Stoplight Parties, that's something different. With all the talk of partying and such at my school, it's a wonder how I've never heard of it. Everyday I hear something to the effect of: "Dude! This party was so sweet, man! They did this one thing where... *rambles off into the sunset*"

>_>

<_<

Bartender 09-02-2005 08:19 AM

We had a traffic light party kind of like that last year at University too. Red was for married, yellow for available, and green for easy.

What colour did you wear?

munky_magik 09-02-2005 08:21 AM

New purchases:

N.W.A - Straight Outta Compton (£3.99)

And that's all there was, really. Apart from from a Four CD Theatres Des Vampires collection for £20.00 which I wasn't really to sure about.

I also got Bill Bailey's Part Troll and The Royal Tennenbaums.

'Twas a poor days shopping :upset:

Bartender 09-02-2005 08:24 AM

Yeah, it sounds less bountiful than many other trips. Not bad, though.
What colour did you wear?
I didn't go.

Good to see you both. How've you been?
I've been alright, I guess. Working most of the time :(
I've been buying CDs as well, but have no idea what they are anymore. I did get a Kitaro CD. I think I remember you mentioning him once. I also got Stop thinking eventually.

I also got a laptop for going to uni. I got into Manchester, by the way.

I also couldn't find Ross Noble DVDs :upset:
The only thing known to go faster than ordinary light is monarchy. According to the philosopher Ly Tin Wheedle. He reasoned like this: You an't have more than one king, and tradition demands that there is no gap between kings, so when a king dies the sucession must therefore *** to the heir Instantaneously. Presumably, he said, there must be some sort of elementary particles - Kingons, or possibly queons - that do this job, but of course sucession sometimes fails if, in mid-flight, they strike an anti-particle, or republicon. His ambitious plans to use his discovery to send messages, involving the careful torturing of a small king in order to modulate the signal, were never fully expounded because, at that point, the bar closed.
This man is a genius :)

The only problem with this is that in most bands the guitar riffs come first, and then the drums are made to the guitar. And then the lyrics are put to the whole song. You just do it in reverse.

Good afternoon all. I am finished with class registration and am enjoying a well-earned day off. I've got a single in a house this year and I'm cooking a lot of my own meals, which rocks.

R+M seems to be sagging a bit topic-wise, I may make a few more Celtic Crossing threads in a while. (o noes series thread!!!!)
