You don't have the obligation to ridicule them either. You could just ignore their post, or in your next post simply print "see top of page", or something similar.

But they have the obligation to check various other sources, such as the Tool web sites, or even quickly browse a few pages back to see if anythings been said.

First of all, you're condoning the behaviour by saying that since one person doesn't do what he is "obligated" to do, you then take it upon yourself to punish him by ridiculing him?

Second, you don't know whether these users checked other sources or not. Users are allowed to ask questions about a release date. When I check other sources about an upcoming album title, and I find nothing, it's obvious I'm going to ask questions when I see titles in this thread. However, I wouldn't ask if I was aware of the fake titles that have been posted recently.. which leads me to think that you're just bored with real Tool discussion, and are posting these falsities for kicks alone.

don't take this so seriously. it's really not a big deal. you're making this out to be something huge. [I]punishing[/I] a user by ridicule? i mean, come on, a little joking around is to be expected. and besides, this threads been around for a long time. i'm pretty sure we've almost exhausted talk about what minimal details we get about the new album and older albums.

I know it's not that serious. I was trying to make a point, people wanted to argue, so I defended my position. It just bugs me how I got ridiculed for something so trivial and obviously not indicative in any way of my amount of love for Tool.

I thought it was funny. It dosn't have anything to do with being more or less of a fan of the band. We always joke around like this, mostly because the band members themselves are known to. It's sort of a Tool in-joke, though pretty much everyone knows about it, so it's not exactly exclusive or anything.

When the new album comes out we can think of more interesting things to talk about, rather than either rehashing old discussions or clutching at straws and making up dumb theories.

There's a highly good chance that the album will be out in May. That's 3 months away. It's a long way from now, but atleast we don't have to wait another year. Judging by the timeline from the events leading up to the Lateralus release, we should find out the name of the new album within the next couple weeks.

Actually, following the Lateralus timeline, we would've gotten those fake album/song titles already. Plus, I doubt Tool would pull that joke twice.

Soon they're going to sell fake albums and we won't know when the real one will come out because there will be all these fake ones and they'll keep releasing them to make you think the real one is a fake too and then they'll sit in their lazy-boys and laugh till someone actually stumbles upon the real album and then Maynard will flip some people and then the Rapture will take place and all the Christians will disappear from the Earth which is kinda sad because they wouldn't have been able to hear the album but who cares cuz they're in heaven as far as they know right?

Album is mastered and is coming out in May. They are going to Europe (minus Adam) to do promo touring. Most likely, this is giving the album to certain critics for early reviews. Expect to hear the name of the album and/or song titles within the next couple weeks.

it is the Replicants, they did a bunch of covers, floyd and stuff. Was looking for some of this stuff, always wanted to hear it. The drummer does have a danny vibe.
