I was just on Scuzz and the video for "Unforgiven II" came up. It was the first time I heard the song proper. I know it's from Reload, not ne1s favourite album, but after i gave it a listen i thought hey its brilliant. What do guys think? Also I looked at the lyrics for both Unforgiven+UnforgivenII, are their meanings connected or sumthing ?

PepsiMetal 06-26-2005 01:48 PM

Unforgiven II is a good song, but intro guitar starts from being boring and annoying. It doesn't blend well with that intro fade in sound.

Not gay, I mean as in

OMG MY FAVORITE METALLICA SONGS ARE:

Those songs are what I've been listening to lately, I like every song on the first 4.

I've been listeninf to Jump in the Fire loads recently, I love that song

JonG 06-26-2005 02:21 PM

I've been listening to KEA more and I still think Hetfield could do a way better job on the vocals :|

I like his recent concert vocals for KEA songs. When he did search and destroy and hit the lights at rock in rio 04, man that was sweet. I'd choose those 2 over the ones on the album anytime.

captain-divvy 06-26-2005 05:47 PM

Dude what is the name of the medieval style metallica song? i think its just instrumental, i really want to know because no bugger seems to know it and they start to go off onto something completly else >:( grrrrrrr

Chu 06-26-2005 05:50 PM

The Call of The Ktulu?
Orion?
To Live is To Die?
Anesthesia?

Although, none of those sound really Medievil, I guess The Call of The Ktulu might, in some like Far distant land

Orion or The Call of Ktulu are two instrumental songs that I can name off the top of my head but I don't think they can be classified under medieval...
Add: By the way, welcome to musicanforums and the metallica thread!

Carlos Santana 06-26-2005 08:21 PM

Ok, at the end of the week me and my band are preforming one at our school interlude.
I was wondering if someone could do me a big favour, if someone could tell where i could find or (send me) a file with gun and war sounds simlair to the intro of "One". I think it would make our opening more better. So doesn anyone know what im talking about
, and can someone help me. thank you

Carlos Santana 06-26-2005 08:32 PM

can anyone help me, cause i really need the sound effect a.s.a.p. sorry for being impatient, its the way i am.

Chu 06-26-2005 08:43 PM

I can't even begin to comprehend why you're doing One.
I guess because if you did something that was really good, chances are no one would like it, but if you did an MTV Favourite, you could get the crowd going.

Carlos Santana 06-26-2005 08:53 PM

so we shouldnt do "one"

Chu 06-26-2005 08:55 PM

I don't think so :p
I reckon it would be cool to do For Whom The Bell Tolls, easy as, and it's great, everyone can get into it. Your band and the audience.

well we sort of been practicng for like a while, now. we got it down pretty good, So i guess im gonna have to go ahead with one, for better or worse

Chu 06-26-2005 09:28 PM

You could learn FWTBT in like 1 day man, it's really not hard.
If can do One, chances are you can do FWTBT easily.

flamesofbodom 06-26-2005 09:29 PM

One's not too hard though. It took me about two or three day to nail it perfectly

JonG 06-26-2005 09:37 PM

FWTBT isn't hard at all. The rhythm is incredibly easy, and is the leads. Don't know about drums or bass but guitar sure is easy.

Chu 06-26-2005 10:50 PM

I play guitar, and learnt the bass intro etc. on guitar originally...
But later I tried bass :p It's still a pretty easy song on bass..

It's possibily the easiest Metallica song to play, and that's saying quite a bit, I think, I mean.. I found it easier then Enter Sandman... :p

vashts80 06-26-2005 11:35 PM
im a bassist and im trying to do the running riff (the one hammett plays live and runs around, hence the name) but its a bitch. too many bad habits learnt early with bass, like neglecting to use my pinky. ****.

ah well. ill just keep doin the 'ba-na ba-na Naaaaaaa' bit rofl
What is the running riff? :x

I can play all of Bells pretty accurately on bass, unfortunately I have no way to record it :\

And yes, Bells (on bass at least) is very easy...getting the timing down is the hardest part of the song, considering the notes are either in the high range (very beginning) or open notes and 3s and a few slides here and there.

I can't do that 19p16 part, the 16 doesn't sound (even with my Muff) :\, but that's about it.

metallicapeppermint27 06-27-2005 12:10 AM

Im going to make/buy a Metallica bracelet (like the livestrong ones) and it's going to be black and really cool! everyone should get one
Im going to make/buy a Metallica bracelet (like the livestrong ones) and it's going to be black and really cool! everyone should get one
Hell Yes, I would get one!

fatbandit 06-27-2005 05:15 AM

Yeh, but to me the idea of the Livestrong bands is to help starving kids, and give money to charity. That kind of thing. The use of them as fashion accessories really gets on my chagrin, as people make any kind of band, just because they know it'll sell well, and the majority of the ones kids wear are fakes and copies, which defies the point of the charity message, and makes those kids absolute greedy, selfish bastards.

:smash:

Joe 06-27-2005 07:43 AM
Yeh, but to me the idea of the Livestrong bands is to help starving kids, and give money to charity.
...you're joking right? It's for cancer.

Actually I like the idea. It's great now because there are several bands for all sorts of causes. My sister made some Metallica ones, and I didn't really care because she had the other ones too.

If you're going to make a Metallica band or some other band band you should buy one of the other ones too, just to support the cause they were originally invented for.
Is it just me, or is the opening riff to Blackened really annoying?
Yes, it's just you.

I just recorded the rhythm guitar for Seek and Destroy. I'll come back when i mix it n everything and i'll post a YSI link (or a soundclick link if YSI isn't working). Is anyone recording Lead, Bass, Drums, or Vocals?

guitarded_chuck 06-27-2005 11:42 AM

So I decided to finally rent Some Kind Of Monster last night. It exceeded my expectations. You really get an understanding of how the band felt after Jason left them, while recording St. Anger, and when James left for rehab. Well I guess I knew that was what the movie was going to be about, but I didn't think it would be as interesting as it was.

My two favorite scenes were when Ulrich met to talk with Mustaine apparently for the first time in a long time, and Ulrich was pretty emotional about it. And when the band had the bass tryouts, and Kyuss' old bassist, Jane Addiction's and more showed up. Trujilo definitley did stand out though, and they offered him $1 000 000 just to join them! Imagine!

Anyway, I'm sure you guys have talked about this movie quite a bit but this is the first I've seen it. Very interesting.
