It's very underrated and definitely the most criticized REAL Tool song. I think it has great vocals/lyrics, but the music is just pretty good. Very emotional, though.

What's your favorite, kage? It is Push!t? That's one of my top 10 favorite songs ever. What a beautiful atmosphere.

...We're talking about Tool again!
I know, I can't believe it.

The vocals/lyrics are definately what push Jimmy over the top, but the instrumentals are also very cool, even if they're not spectacularly different from the Tool norm.

My favorite from Aenima, though, is Third Eye.

Trintar_VIII 02-02-2006 05:17 PM

Yeah, I like Jimmy a lot as well. But, then again, there really isn't any Tool song that I consider "merely okay."

denboy 02-02-2006 05:44 PM
Hehe, yeah i live near Roskilde Denmark.

Don't they play very often?
Tool tours every 4 years or something like that

The guitar riff of Jimmy is just crushingly awesome as well, especially after the carnival version of it on the segue into the song. My favorite part of the song is when it gets quiet-like at the end and then the main riff explodes again. Gives me goosebumps.

Agreed; I also love when the bass and drums crash in at the intro and join the guitar riff. That section is great.

Just in case it hasn't been posted yet.....

You guys are aware that the new album is done and being mastered yes?

Buy an album.

I saw that "Maximum Tool" thing in a random used CD store, the one with a free mini-poster, and none of the songs on the tracklist had actual Tool songs on them. They did have that "Choke" song that Cigaro just mentioned though. Reckon I should get it? Even though it's probably terrible/fake.

Spiritofmosa 02-03-2006 06:46 AM

i only spend money on real albums .. unless is a official tool greatest hits

nowitzki 02-03-2006 08:02 AM

Have you seen this:http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=47838
It gets me so excited, Josh Homme possibly appearing on the album, and a new video in the works :naughty:
I'm kind of annoyed they are playing at Reading, I was hoping they might play Download festival, which I should be definitely going to anyway.

Yeah, I wouldn't spend money on one of those, unless its really cheap.

123 on that

Though im not likely to bother with Download, due to the first few bands announced

Shadius 02-03-2006 10:03 AM

I'm pumped about Leeds/Reading. I'll be at Leeds. Muse and Tool. Beyond amazing headliners for me.

Come to Reading Ben!

I'm not a big Homme fan but i apreciate he may do well in the extra guitar slot, formerly filled by buzz...

We all knew the video is in the works...'Adam will stay in La...'

Trintar_VIII 02-03-2006 12:04 PM

I know Homme was in Queens of the Stone Age, but was he also their singer?

Yeah I wasn't impressed with the announcement, but those aren't the headliners, so they still may have something good in store.

Where did you find that out? If its true, Aerosmith should be awesome. Not a fan of the other 3 at all though.
The only 3 officially confirmed are Prodigy, Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine.

And back to Tool... are the new DVDs of Schism and Parabola worth getting? I know the videos are two of the greatest things ever created, but I have decent quality versions on my PC, so is it worth it for the extras?

kurrpt 02-03-2006 12:52 PM

i know....

i guess i waited this friggin long. Whats a couple extra months huh

If you already have them in great quality, and don't need any higher, then not really.

Trintar_VIII 02-03-2006 01:32 PM

The dual commentary on them is pretty funny though.

misunderstood 02-03-2006 02:34 PM

Ok, well I was just at blabbermouth and seems like the current festival lineup is looking something like this so far:
Apr. 29-30 - Indio, CA @ Coachella Festival
Jun. 2-4 - GER @ Rock am Ring / Rock im Park Festivals
Jun. 3-5 - NETH @ Pinkpop Festival
Jun. 16-18 - Interlaken, SWI @ Greenfield Festival
Jun. 29 - Jul. 2 - Roskilde, DEN @ Roskilde Festival
Jul. 4-8 – NOR @ Quart Festival (to be confirmed)
Aug. 25-27 – Reading, UK @ Reading Festival

By the way, I have that song, 'Choke' on my computer. I found it a few months ago when I was searching for material from Maynard's older band, CAD. Wasn't really sure whether it was Tool or not..but now I guess it is. If anyone's interested let me know and I'll upload it.

This is the second time I've heard of the song "Chocked"...can anybody else shed a little light on what this is?

Dried Muffin Remnants 02-03-2006 03:16 PM

Is Skeptical a song? If so, I haven't heard that nor Choked.

Darkness 02-03-2006 03:16 PM

Yeah Skeptical too.

Well, I dug up some information on the song and I found that it is not infact, Tool. However, the vocals on there were actually done by MJK. Here's a review of the album ('Flyin' Traps') in which you can find the song:

"This collection, compiled by Redd Kross drummer Brian Reitzell, features 15 tracks by some of the most important drummers of the "alternative" rock world. Yet it's not a drumming album per se, considering only two tracks are actual drum solos (and oddly enough, one of those two solos is performed by J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr guitar fame). Still, Flyin' Traps is almost entirely instrumental -- and the drumming is obviously the centerpiece -- but the performances are essentially song- oriented. A few tracks are dead giveaways to the band a particular drummer resides in: Steven Drozd (Flaming Lips), Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails), and Dale Crover (Melvins) all perform tracks that sound like their respective bands. That's not necessarily a weakness -- Drozd's psychedelic "Headphones Theme from Seemingly Infinity" is actually one of the standouts, along with the rhythmically intense "The Gay '90s" by Josh Freese (of Paul Westerberg and Slider fame). It may be for special tastes, but at least it's nice to see the guys in the back moving to the forefront for a change."

Anyway, here's the song for anyone who wants to give it a listen:
RELEASE DATES NOT OFFICIAL
Although there are lots of release dates being bandied about, NONE are official as of this posting. However, in all likelihood, the CD will be released sometime in MAY, and hopefully earlier in that month as opposed to later. As soon as the date becomes official (or, as soon as I'm told that it's official) I will post it on the site, and then some of you can respond that it's old news.
So, the album is coming out in May.
