Its changed to Aug 1
so what you're trying to say is "not very well?"
so what you're trying to say is "not very well?"
Basically.

I'm in the process of buying a whole new kit, and free time to record might not be available. I'll still try, but if anyone else wants to do it, by all means go for it.

Britton 06-22-2005 11:29 PM

Can you inform me about these recording's cause I would love to be on one or two

I'm a few weeks old on this thread

vashts80 06-22-2005 11:32 PM

You there. Do you have a singer for Seek? If you have a lead singer already, I'd love to do Newsted-like backups :x

Otherwise, I know most (all? I have to see) of the lyrics if you need a lead singer...I'm a pretty bad one though, so I'll do a sample if you want

HAha do it for my amusement.

FlyingPaul_83 06-23-2005 01:10 AM
i disagree.

Fade to Black - 3:55 --> end, especially 5:05 --> end
Welcome Home (Sanitarium) 4:50 --> end
Blackened - 4:05 --> 4:30
...And Justice For All - 9:15 --> 9:25
To Live is To Die - 4:29 --> 6:20, especially 4:56 --> 5:52

those are my favorites.
Yeah I know that they have better riffs, all I'm sayin is that that riff gets stuck in my head so easily. I love the riff in fade to black,, but whenevr I hear that riff in four horsemen, I get chillls cause it's so cool.

Edit: oh and R.Blythe is right about ..And justice for all. I love how cool the palm muted intro sounds.

This man shares similar tastes to me, I'm surprised he doesn't like Megadeth.

Shotgun 1 06-23-2005 06:05 AM

Haven't read the entire thread yet so this may have already been covered, but I really like the St Anger album. The only thing I would have changed is add a few signature Kirk Hammett solo's and change Lars Ulrich's snare drum !

What's with that thing ?!?!
Thankfully he switched it when they filmed the St Anger Rehearsals DVD. That sounded heaps better.

As for best album and song, I would probably vote for "One" and "...And Justice For All", even though that album also has it's sound issues.

I'll try and record it next week, timed with the album, the rhythm guitar.

Welcome to MX. I don't blame you, it's quite a long thread. That's the same stuff a lot of people would change, and I agree it's a good album. For best album and song, as many people know around here, I like Fade to Black the best. The best album I used to say RTL or MOP, but I've gotten into the justice album a lot lately, so i'm not sure.

Endless Obsession 06-23-2005 10:15 AM

That would be Chris Adler. One of the best drummers around. My favorite.

i've only got the title track on my computer, and its good, the thing that really bugs me is that you can here where the solos should be, there just aren't any.

Yes that is exactly why I cant stand that album. Taken alone the songs are good and if some new band had come out with that album I would have said "wow this is pretty good" but since it was Metalica I couldn't overlook the lack of solos or of complexity in the songs the same way I could normally.

BTW Creeping Deth: Halford >>>>>>>>>> Other Queers

Joe 06-23-2005 07:23 PM

Well the songs were fairly complex and I really liked them a lot. Even though I miss solos, I'm extremely optimistic about the new album.

I wish I could write complex songs... my songs nowadays don't seem to go anywhere

Huber 06-23-2005 07:25 PM

Yeah, I tried to write some riffs, and I wrote one nice one, but couldn't come up with anything else. So now I'm trying to write Black Metal music, because I can do it by myself, and it's kinda fun.

My problem is that I like soloing, but since my songs aren't incredibly creative anymore I'm just soloing to a four chord background which gets boring. And anytime I try to write a cool random riff for in the middle of a song I get another song stuck in my head so i can't write anything that doesn't sound like that riff. Like earlier I was writing this song and I was trying to find a pre-solo riff and all I could think of was something like before the Blackened solo.

i hear that

Chu 06-23-2005 09:17 PM

Meh, I can write my own riffs, which are sometimes really cool. But then I find myself with a song full of changing riffs, it just won't go anywhere, I can't write a solo, or interlude to save my life.

I guess it's not always a bad thing, but I don't like it.

Fairly complex but nothing compared to the good old days of Metallica.

Me too, except I don't have band members willing to keep up with my riffs
Fairly complex but nothing compared to the good old days of Metallica.
Well of course I can't write anything really complex Orion or Four Horsemen, but I can write some of the not as complex stuff on those albums, but i've only written a few complex songs and nowhere near at the same skill level as kirk and james.

Britton 06-24-2005 12:17 AM

Yea thay are so awsome

and part of the writing is all about timing it doesn't take a select amount of
notes you just make them work together....like the bond theme and so forth

but then again getting that timing and the notes and haveing it all sound good

I feel you

Chu 06-24-2005 03:10 AM
Me too, except I don't have band members willing to keep up with my riffs
Oh, I am in a band which is at least 10 times more skilled then I am. They want to cover For Whom The Bell Tolls, but since I'm the only guitarist, I can play the whole song, I'm just not sure which guitar I should follow.

Edit: We write/want to play heaps funk metal, a rhythm and lead guitar, but the rhythm guitar is played by the bass (Our bassist is huge, his fingers are like solid sticks, so axe, he can do Anesthesia almost completely)...

IBML_Got_Banned 06-24-2005 03:47 AM

From Whom the Bell Tolls is a pretty easy song. I'd say follow both parts.. Or if that fails have bass do rythm.

Chu 06-24-2005 04:27 AM

That's what I think we'll do.

hammet_ownz 06-24-2005 05:11 AM

im a bassist and im trying to do the running riff (the one hammett plays live and runs around, hence the name) but its a bitch. too many bad habits learnt early with bass, like neglecting to use my pinky. ****.

ah well. ill just keep doin the 'ba-na ba-na Naaaaaaa' bit rofl

I can kind of play that running riff on bass, I screw around with bass a bit.
Because our bassist doesn't show up much, I usually do bass and guitar, but when he does show up, it's party for all :D
