no ive wrote this section that is in C#m, and i want it played again later in the song but in a different key, preferably Fm. but im havin trouble changin the notes, it sounds wrong
If you want to transpose the whole section into F from C#, move it up 4 frets. That's the easy way. |
that would keep the same intervals, but might not fit the peice that well...
obviously, DuCran posted the easiest way. |
il try that and then have a listen, cheers guys.
so anyway i wanna go lake bodom lol |
eh, im really not impressed by that at all, considering ive been playing for 26 months...
I think it all has to do with your approach, and how much you "want" it (passion)
But you're not as good as Gilbert...and you're already nearly 1/3 there. I think it's extremely impressive tbh. 6 years isn't that long to get that good. C'mon, how many people could actually play anything off of Street Lethal with no mistakes first time through with ease...not many. |
back on topic for a second...
It seems the more I listen to Hatecrew, Deathroll, the harder it is for me to decide which one i like more :/ mitch : that post wasn't to belittle Paul Gilbert, or anything he has accomplished. If anything, it was to rationalize his ability, and basically let everyone know that if they were dedicated enough, they could easily attain that level... I really have no idea where I'll be in another 4 years. I will say, if I continue on this path, I will eventually be happy with my playing  |
mitch the C#m to Fm thing works, thanks
|

Of course it does. :)
mitch : that post wasn't to belittle Paul Gilbert, or anything he has accomplished. It's a shame there's hardly anyone to look up to who are that age nowadays. I mean, it's Trvium and Dragonforce who are in the spotlight at the moment and neither of them can really impress me live at all, and that's what it's all about to me. I know I wouldn't be able to do any better now but if I was in their shoes, I'd want to be able to play alot better. I think I'm going back into education next year so it's kinda psyched me up to practise more so I can be the Paul Gilbert of the place I choose, I really want to impress people. Then with a full degree, I'll probably go be a teacher somewhere. |
I tend to agree (as far as having role models)
it's a dream of mine to just play guitar all day and get better. If that means i have to teach little kids to do so, then so be it  I always wanted to have the SRV approach, where no one knows who you are, yet everyone wants to find out because you kick arse |
You don't have to teach little kids, you could go teach in a place like GIT if you had the qualifications. Then you'd be in a place where there's 200 guitarists that are all really really good at different things, plus it'd be much more mature and organised. That's what I want to do, and/or teach theory.
|
yea, im afraid I dont have the theory background for something like that :/
|
Eh I suppose. You'd need to know quite a bit so you don't get shown up or proven wrong by half the students. One of the teachers at my old college was like that, he just knew everything. Hopefully he'll be there if I choose to go back there.
I wouldn't work in a school though, too crappy for my liking. |
no, it's true...
like I said before, thats really the deciding factor if you want to be good at anything (passion)
Yeah. I had one teacher when I started for like 3 months and then quit, and went self taught. I used to practice (not much at all really) and got extremely better fast. Nowadays I don't play as much and still have my skill and am getting better. |
yea, you'll just maintain at that point...
I know, for me, I really feel the need to practice on a regular basis. I actually feel bad if i didn't squeeze in more than 2 hours a day  |
I'm really thinking of starting to practice seriously to gain my full potential. My main focus right now is weightlifting though, and I don't want it to take a backseat.
Decisions, decisions, decisions ;) |
well, there ya go...
I'm juggling a 9.5 hour a day job, + a crazy finacee, and a jerkarse brother that won't move the fuk out of my house. It doesnt sound too hard to squeeze in time to practice, except when my girl complains every time I want to plug into my Krank, or even turn on the metronome  |
Yeah. I had one teacher when I started for like 3 months and then quit, and went self taught. I used to practice (not much at all really) and got extremely better fast. Nowadays I don't play as much and still have my skill and am getting better.
So where's that SNBN recording...:smash: |
Haha. I haven't played any Bodom in a long time.
|
agreed /\/\/\/\
|
Me neither actually. I play parts of a few solos alot but I haven't jammed out along with teh b0d0m sea deas in a while.
|
so you want to attend a university next year, mitch, or did i understand you wrong?
|
so you want to attend a university next year, mitch, or did i understand you wrong?
Yeah that's right. I was thinking working in some crappy supermarket isn't going to buy me a house, car and help me raise a family or even myself right? So I though I'll just go back to college and do their degree course or uni, or some special guitar school. I still need to decide but at least it'll give me some better qualifications so I can become a teacher or something of that nature. |
yeah, that are great news! you should do it... learn as long as you can!
... but what will you do during this year? |
Practise probably. I want to be prepared for it and as I said to Kurrpt, I want to be the Paul Gilbert of the place I choose to go, so I need to practise LOTS.
|
Good luck, man. I'm planning on tech school or just a job.
|
that are great news... i'm glad for you!
argh... i wanna play guitar again!!!!!! it kills me! my wrist is better, but there are still some motions i do which hurts... need to rest it more. but its getting better from each day... so there is still HOPE  |
My guitar teacher made me bend the high e string till it broke. The string almost hit my eye.
This should be called guitar discussion/bodom thread or something. |
i did that w/ my violin.
ur not supposed to use the big pegs near the "headstock" (im using guitar lingo haha) but i did and it was millimeteres from my eye. if it hit my eye, i'd be half blind right now. |
i hate tunin up from D to E, it always feels like the strings gonna snap
EDIT: Can someone do me a favour and upload Downfall? I've got it at home, but Im at college at the moment and i need it for my recording. |
if the strings are stretched properly, tuning up a step shouldn't be a problem (well, if you are using 10s or 11s)
|
So yer, I tabbed SNBN again. I think it looks kewler this way and the interlude is actually correct, unlike the other tabs.
