Yeah... It's going to be hard to except a new release in the Tool discography.

Spiritofmosa 02-01-2006 08:45 PM

who is this Salma

studmuffin 02-01-2006 11:01 PM

so i just found out they are playing in the Coachella valley music festival in CA april 30th
oh never mind i guess i could have read back a few pages. duh.

Pezzo_di_Merda 02-01-2006 11:07 PM

So I wonder when the US tour will be? Unless I read it wrong, looks like they'll tour CA but that's the only one I saw. Can't wait for the new album to come out, as I'm sure none of us can, or for them to have more official tour dates

It'll definitely change the way I look at the world. No joke. :obsessed:

Futuro 02-01-2006 11:21 PM

Oh god!

:Craps self:

Ventriloquist 02-02-2006 02:42 AM

Don't know this group can you guys recommend me some songs-albums ?

repcak 02-02-2006 03:29 AM
I can't even believe that it's done. It's like being in a war and being told it's over. You've become accustomed to it, and you never actually thought it would end.
 great comparison

kurrpt 02-02-2006 07:41 AM

my band asked me what song I wanted to do as a cover.

OF COURSE i chose anything by TOoL, but it appears the drummer is either too sh!tty, or too lazy to learn Danny Carey style. Fukking bastard

Henrik 02-02-2006 09:52 AM

Tool is playing at a festival near me this summer... The same does Opeth

Which albums should I listen to from those?

please don't bash my noobness.

kurrpt 02-02-2006 11:16 AM

im telling you right now tho...

if my band wants to cover SOBER, im black-balling it, or quitting the band

/100% serious

kurrpt 02-02-2006 11:54 AM

its my least favorite, most over played TOoL song...

not sure really. Dont really care for it. If i cant see the video, i wont even listen to it.

That and its like the NOOB TOoL song.

If I were you guys I would do something from Aenima (Besides 46&2) Lateralus drum parts are very intense.
There's less filler on Lateralus, anyway.
Are you counting filler as the wierd noise tracks? Or bad songs?

kurrpt 02-02-2006 12:00 PM

i get into schism more tho...

guitar parts are better. The singing is better (IMO) Just appeals to me more i guess

edit: i WANTED to do something like Jimmy, or something from Opiate. He explained that it would have to be recognizable.

Ill tell ya what, that whole conversation turned me off of this band a lot

jimmy? Why the fuck would you want to play that average song?

:p

kurrpt 02-02-2006 01:07 PM

cause i like it...

and its something you really wouldnt hear an other band cover. This guy is a lamo, and only wants to play sh!t people are aware of, and hear all the time. To me, i COULD turn on the sh!tty radio for that junk, but i got an IPOD for a reason

Shadius 02-02-2006 01:10 PM

To be honest, no Tool songs are well known. From a pop standpoint definately, or even an alternative standpoint, particulary.

I get the feeling he's not a great drummer. Most drummers can easily bash their way through a pop/rock song. Doing something like Tool is a little different.

kurrpt 02-02-2006 01:12 PM

i completely agree...

but you have to understand my point of view. I was just brought in about 1.5 weeks ago, where they proceeded to hand me a 12 song set list and said LEARN THIS

I dont think its too absurd to give him a semi-challenging song, and work 1/2 as hard on it as i do to get all this sh!t down ASAP.

Futuro 02-02-2006 01:31 PM
jimmy? Why the **** would you want to play that average song?
I wouldn't call that average :-/

@Kuurpt: How long has he been drumming for?
sorry bro, i dont drum. I play guitar. Always wanted to drum tbh
I mean the drummer who you are jamming with.
Roskilde? There are a lot of people in this thread that might want to kill you, but don't take it personally. :)
Hehe, yeah i live near Roskilde Denmark.

Don't they play very often?

kurrpt 02-02-2006 01:35 PM
I mean the drummer who you are jamming with.
not sure exactly. His kit is really nice.

Id guess 2 to 2 + years.

Sh!t man, if I played drums, I KNOW I could play some TOoL because I'd be hell bent on doing so

Futuro 02-02-2006 01:48 PM
Sh!t man, if I played drums, I KNOW I could play some TOoL because I'd be hell bent on doing so
Yeah, Thats how I was. Its alot easier when you really want to learn there parts.
Id guess 2 to 2 + years.
That may be the problem. I had been playing for 4 years when I did Lateralus (And I still wasnt happy with it)

Did we ever get bass and vocals for that by the way?

bwnstl 02-02-2006 03:52 PM
I wouldn't call that average :-/
123, I think Jimmy is one of the best songs off of Aenima. Which really isn't saying much since they're nearly all masterpieces...

kurrpt 02-02-2006 03:54 PM

hehe its my favorite

Kage 02-02-2006 04:08 PM

I love Jimmy. Probably my second favorite off Aenima. I love the atmosphere and mood of it.

Dried Muffin Remnants 02-02-2006 04:40 PM

It's very underrated and definitely the most criticized REAL Tool song. I think it has great vocals/lyrics, but the music is just pretty good. Very emotional, though.

What's your favorite, kage? It is Push!t? That's one of my top 10 favorite songs ever. What a beautiful atmosphere.

...We're talking about Tool again!
