I've seen Flabbit in the pit.
|
I actually spoke the Flabbit yesterday on msn.
But it's been ages since he posted in R&M. So I was in town, ready to spend money on DVDs and CDs, but there was nothing of my interest. |
flabbit has posted in the pit a fair bit recently i seen him
|
I hardly ever go into the pit.
The amount of thread that are atleast a bit useful is well very low. |
Okay, you guys are going to be my focus group again. Here's a couple of projects currently in the works for Witching Hour Productions from this month all the way up to August, as well as some random ideas.
Idea 1 To start with, my brother and some mutual friends and I were hanging out, ended up with a truly warped idea. We want to make a screwball comedy about gamers. The cast of characters will include Sean the long-suffering straightman of the group with an X-Box addiction, wacky adventuring expert Doyle, Professor Bob Science, and Buddha among others. Special effects will be neither. A helicopter chase sequence will be done with a canvas backdrop and RC helicopter toys with Flight of the Valkyries playing in the background. The climax will feature the administrators for World of Warcraft being kept in stasis pods into which they pump subscribers' money to keep them alive. Should be fun. Working title is "Gamers Rising" and will probaby change about 20 times in the next month. Idea 2 Here's something my brother and his friends came up with the other day: a turtle gangsta rap. These are the only lyrics thus far: I'm a turtle For sure-tle My shell you cannot hurtle It's hard and enamelly I'll kill your family I'm trying to talk him into writing a whole song out of that for a Witching Hour EP. Thoughts? Idea 3 Some of you probably remember my idea for Chow Hounds, the bachelors' cooking show. Inaugural episode will be crock pot barbecue pulled pork, and a brief overview of essential equipment. Every five episodes, we'll have a parody of Iron Chef where a theme ingredient is posted, submissions for recipes are taken, three are chosen, and the dishes are put to the test by an "expert" panel of friends of mine. The winner gets a free T-shirt, chef's hat, and possibly some other prize. Idea 4 I mentioned this one once before as well. From Beyond is a magic performance DVD. Ten performances will be strung together by silent segments with voice-over narrative telling a Lovecraftian tale of a scholar who began dabbling in forbidden knowledge and ultimately meets a mysterious and horrific doom. Idea 5 A friend of mine is the ultimate zombie movie junkie. He's also a total slacker, so I'm hoping the promise of money will entice him into contributing a blog about the pop culture impact of zombie movies. Eventually, the blog posts will be edited and compiled into a book. No title as of yet as I'm trying to figure out how much booze I have to bribe him with. Feedback is appreciated here. |
lol those all sound well funny. The zombie movie blog will be sweet.

I drink beer whenever I'm hungover.
I'm eating healthy food atm, ftw! |
i'm just watching Dragonball GT (Bebi vs. Goku as SS4)
but today i had another bigger problems: my band! maybe you can help me out; i like it, really, but my guitarist is just more into nu-metal stuff and all his riffs are 8th notes... there is no variaty. and some of those riffs are so time-off that its hard to play it for me (its my own fault cause i suck at off-beats). when i wrote a song, he just didn't played the 2nd guitar (the same riff but with 2 guitars), he just layered other riffs over my riffs (so 2 guitars are playing 2 different things) - the endresult was good, so i'm satisfied; but i don't do it with his songs. well - i just want that all our songs sound awesome! i just don't know, if i have to rewrite my own part in HIS songs, or shall i just play it how it is supossed to be by him... i don't want to be an asshole and we had several discussions about his playing style and my (he is playing in drop c, i play in d-standard) on anohter note, he once critizised me, cause one of my chorus parts was in 3/4 and he said it should be in 4/4 - but he is the one who is using and changing from 4/4 to 10/8 and 9/8 and so on... |
Sounds like you wanna play different styles of music. YOu should jam a bit more so you get used to his style and then do a bit of improv over the top and see how it sounds and how he reacts
|
i suggested several times to jam around, but he a) don't want to do it and b) he cannot.
we once tried to jam in the last half hour, but it ended that everyone was playing something differenty; at least i come up with a nice riff, which i wanna use for a new song. the other problem is that we pay for every hour in this one accomodation where we can play together, so jamming would come pretty expensive... he sits at home, writes his songs in guitar pro and sends it via mail... tbh. i'm responsible for the solos, but when he is playing in 8th notes, the songs are 180bpm fast (most of them); but i just cannot shred THAT fast. the last solo i wrote was in triplets and its pretty fast for me at 180 right now. if he would write songs between 130 and 150/160 it would be perfect for the solos. |
why dont you just slow down during the solo sections
that would bring variety! |
Kacper, do the other band mates agree with you that this guy isn't contributing much/writes crappy riffs?
Kick him out, tbh... |
nothing against slow solos, but its just not my kind of style. during solo i would like to have all kinds of notes! 8ths, triplets, 16th, not only slow notes... that would be boring too.
@Nemesis: well, he is the one who started to band ^^ and the bassist hardly comes and the drummer is just a drummer :p no, he just wanna be in a band... tbh. i am the only one who really (!) listen to metal. bassist listens to everything, the drummer to a lot of rockstuff, the other guitarist is into nu-metal a la mudvayne, new in flames, slipknot. my own style is something between nevermore, kalmah and CoB - just melodic death with thrash/death influences. |
Just turn your guitar really loud and drown him out.
|
Wow, sounds like you got quite a circus of a band going there. Do you have a myspace?
|

lol
yeah... but just with a few demorecordings, the other guitarist made two days ago. the 4th song is my song idea, but he played it on drop-c, and it should be in d-standard - it doesn't sound right and its sloppy. myspace.com/surrealitymetal |
Steerpike:
all those ideas sound incredible, I think I like the magic one the best and it seems to be the one that you would really be able to strive for and enjoy the most. |
the rhythm part in this first song sucks
|

thanks :)
|
Yeah, I liked your song idea the most of all those.
|
thanks again, but he modified his parts ... i like how he did, cause its the only song we've made that consists of his style and my style.
all the other songs are just his creations. maybe i should suggest this - i write the songs and he modifies it, but i don't have so much time to do it + writing all the solos. eh... it would be not fair. i just need to keep on and see if we can meet ourself in the middle of our two different styles. |
I'm sure within a few months you'll find that compromise.
|
i hope it... you know, its my first band ever, so i don't know how to handle such things.
|
