rockindrummer 03-12-2006 01:23 AM

I had such a sweet day today. Went down to L&M and found out that I adore the 19" Paiste sig Full Crash. I also found out I really want to get Akira Jimbo's sig snare.

Then tonight I chilled with my friends, we smoked a couple bowls then watched a movie.

milkmit 03-12-2006 01:23 AM
hey, milkmet, do you have aim?

If you do, did you get those files from the samgiant man guy?

Pwetty pwease.
I've got aim, but I'm about to head to sleeeeeeep. if you can't get in touch with sam tomorrow to get the files, let me know and I'll give you a link to em!

Look guys, I'm in need of help. Looks like I'm not getting a 3005, my local store still hasn't received a shipment of the drums. So now I'm looking into other kits, and here's what I got:

Gretsch Catalina Maple OR Birch
Ludwig Accent Custom
Mapex M Birch
Pacific MX
Tama Superstar Custom SL
Yamaha Stage Custom Nouveau

Basically, these kits are a little within my price rage. Now, I need many opinions on these drums and why I should get it. Help highly appreciated!

Oh ya. It's really to bad that the crash is like $430 otherwise I'd so buy it!

haha "Josiah Micheletti, plays drums..." classic.

Yeah, it seems a bit sparse. maybe blend in some cool picture of you playing right under the 'plays drums' cloud, and when i say blend, i mean blend. As in, not a big dumb rectangle sitting right there. I think you get the idea.

that's what i think!

Pleaseme 03-12-2006 07:01 AM

Urrrrg man, I was in my local music shop yesterday and they had a second hand Pearl Masters series kit, 6 piece, in Mahogany. Sounded beautiful, and all the guys working in the shop said it was definately a one off item and they all loved it too.
And as I was playing it, the guy walked in and said I had to stop playing it because it had just been sold to some bloke buying it for his kid who couldn't play for shit! He'd bought the lot, the A's that happened to be on there, the IC double pedal, the damn lot. To a kid who couldn't play. *cringe*
So yeah that was my daily dose of anger.

Little Android Man 03-12-2006 08:59 AM

yo mx, i just got my new wuhan 12" splash yesterday

styler 03-12-2006 08:59 AM

Bonham#1! 03-12-2006 09:54 AM

ok I gots a question: Do you think some kind of ear protection while playing with your band is definately a good idea. I dont and find my ears ringing when we stop and the last thing I want to do is loose my hearing. Does anyone have a solution of something that protects your ears but doesnt block out to much sound?

Panopticon 03-12-2006 10:10 AM

use whatever ear protection you use when just drumming regularly...

always use ear protection...

FL3P 03-12-2006 11:13 AM
What kinda kit FL3P?
Yes I got the new UDrum kit acouple of days ago and it looks and sounds amazing! I still havent taken any pics but its on my to do list.

styler 03-12-2006 11:13 AM

so... the whole point to ear protection ISNT to block out sound and protect your hearing? your going for double negatives my friend.

the only way i can think of to protect your hearing (give or take sticking dimes/marbles in your ears) is too reduce the sound.

you cant save your hearing and still have 150 decibels going through your headphones

fishbulb' 03-12-2006 11:28 AM

Get VIC firth isolation headhphones. I can't play my drums without them anymore, way too loud.

Loyton 03-12-2006 11:30 AM

Nah, just get like a 3 dollar pair of chainsaw headphones n put ear buds underneath.

milkmit 03-12-2006 11:37 AM
Interesting, bit sparse.
sparse is good, but black backgrounds are sooooo 1996.. :)

psychocream 03-12-2006 11:39 AM

i never have used ear protection, maby i should.....

thats why phil collins retired, because he was loosing his hearing.

Janeway 03-12-2006 12:00 PM
Congratulations?

What instrument do you play?
Saxophone.

Bonham#1! 03-12-2006 12:24 PM

ok thanks for the ear advice.

punkrocker2o1 03-12-2006 12:38 PM

My guitarists dad just bought a big 100 pack of ear plugs for us to use while we're practicing. Hes concered about our hearing seeing as we're young and practice together around 10 hours a week on average. They dont actually block the sound but cut down on everything you dont need to hear. You can still hear everything perfectly but it keeps it at a good volume.

Drum Phil 03-12-2006 01:52 PM

Todays band practice went well. Im gonna have to give our drummer a talking to though. Pinstripes + hydros + studio rings + aheads + ahead gloves = sad phil

Loyton 03-12-2006 01:57 PM
Todays band practice went well. Im gonna have to give our drummer a talking to though. Pinstripes + hydros + studio rings + aheads + ahead gloves = sad phil
Was he any good?

On another note, Im about to go on a rigious adventure. Im talking intense 6 mile trek in 2 foot snow blizzard conditions, down canyons and across ravines. Smoke pot in caves. With my ipod. To return to pizzas and root beer and warm surround sound.

fishbulb' 03-12-2006 01:57 PM

Wow that's a bad combination.

Seafroggys 03-12-2006 01:58 PM

pins and hydros? like top/bottom or just mismatched on different drums?

Loyton 03-12-2006 02:02 PM

Haha, gloves crack me up. I know they serve a purpose and everything, but I can NEVER take them seriously.

fishbulb' 03-12-2006 02:04 PM

If you wear gloves you lose the feeling of the stick.

Also, i've been playing guitar a little bit lately, so i've been getting calises (the dead skin that protects your fingers). And ever since i got them i can't hold onto a drumstick... Any ideas?

Also, i have a question about zildjian cymbals. ZBT ZXT Planet Z's, they all seem the same to me. What is the lowest end of these?

Drum Phil 03-12-2006 02:09 PM
Was he any good?
Yeah he was actually. Im gonna be having words though.
pins and hydros? like top/bottom or just mismatched on different drums?
Hydros on the bass batter and reso.

rockindrummer 03-12-2006 03:11 PM

I think planet Z's are the lowest of the low.

fishbulb' 03-12-2006 03:17 PM

Huh, i thought i saw them at 180 for a crash or something.
