Have any of you noticed all the similarities between "Kill 'Em All", and "St. Anger"? I have, and have prepared a list.

On both, James's vocals could have been better,
On both, the production could have been better,
On both, there is no "ballad", eg. "Ride The Lightning" has "Fade to Black", "Master of Puppets" has "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)", and "..And Justice For All" has "One",
On both, the front cover includes a hand,
On both, one of the main colors for the cover is red,
Both album titles are aggresive. "Kill 'Em All" and "St. Anger",
Both albums were the first album for the bassist of the album,
Both could be classified as "Thrash",
Both kick ass!

That's true, and I agree they both kick ***. But they did want to name kill em all metal up your *** at first, but I like kill em all title better. :thumb:

St. anger is thrash too really, and more thrashy than metallica has made since like 1990s or so.

Jev 11-12-2005 02:38 PM

Imagine if it had been Metal Up Your Ass. They'd be regretting that now.

if they are so similar, than if kill 'em all was the first, ironically st. anger would be the last :(:(

No way, Im pretty sure they're gonna keep making albums till they're like 60 or something. They're not just gonna stop all of a sudden. Plus they just hired Rob like 2 years ago, so they probably do have plans for at least few more albums.

uh you mean positive... because they are.

Grimm 11-12-2005 09:43 PM

**** i just saw an ad for racing, and they were using Fuel by Metallica.I suppose thats a big metal up your as$ to those sad sacks who rip off metallica because of St.Anger, Load and Reload albums.I reckon everybody is going soft because of the new music scene with those dickhead rappers and that r'n'b crap.St.Anger is some of the heaviest $hit people will hear, and they don't like it.thats sad considering most of the people who like metallica call themselves 'Hardcore' fans, but still choose to talk **** about St.Anger.

STRETCH 11-12-2005 10:49 PM

I find this pretty funny.

I'm starting to like RTL more than ...AJFA, I've been listening to it more often than any other album.

I'm the biggest Slayer fan I know of. But yet, I'll bash their albums Undisputed Attitude and God Hates Us All. Why? Because I think they suck. Just like many people think that St. Anger sucks, or is atleast really under-par for Metallica. I personally don't like St. Anger, only about 3 songs I like.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6568237211388392832&q=hammett
 It's ironic because Kirk would probably be the most sober one on stage. He's always struck me as a bit of an unco.

Grimm 11-12-2005 11:08 PM

All I'm saying is two things:1:rap music is the worst kind of music to ever enter the world , if it can even be considered music, which i think it can't.
2: A hardcore fan is a fan who can never say a bad word about the band they are a fan of, and hang off every single note played off the guitar, every single clash of the drums and every word the vocalist says, regardless of the difference between it and other albums. sometimes, you just gotta grow, and not get stuck in the past that will never happen again.metallica decided to grow, but the fans didn't grow with them.

Yeah, I thought he was on the wrong side. Then again, it does say hammet, and I always thought Jason had a ponytail when his hair was long?

Grimm 11-12-2005 11:19 PM

I really hope that metallica releases a solid album next, and not a dodgy one like St.Anger.Maybe Rob Truillo will bring some inspiration to metallica.all we can do is pray...

Grimm 11-12-2005 11:30 PM

Say...does anyone know the name of the band that Jason Newsted went to?

Bazarov 11-12-2005 11:31 PM

Yeah, I was wondering why Kirk would be slapping his guitar. But I really couldn't tell.

Jim 11-12-2005 11:31 PM

EchoBrain i think.

I hope so as well.

Jason's other band was Echo-brain, I think.

A while back somebody said that Rick Rubin might produce the next album. Can anybody confirm if they're gonna drop Bob Rock or not?

Bazarov 11-13-2005 12:13 AM
A while back somebody said that Rick Rubin might produce the next album. Can anybody confirm if they're gonna drop Bob Rock or not?
No, I posted that, but I said it was just a rumor. I heard it from someone, who heard it from someone. It is also most likely not even true, because Metallica likes Bob Rock.

Have you looked at tabs? or used MySongBook.com? Though for MSB you'd need Guitar Pro4.

heavy metal kid 11-13-2005 12:48 AM

I just heard my Garage Inc cd (been a while since the last time a heard it), Jason really improved a lot the basslines of astronomy.

Another high point on Jasons history.

Also, when a friend was looking for some Metallica tabs, he found a song called Apocalypse Dawn, when does Metallica cover it? and who is the original author or band?

RTL to me is one of their best albums, or i should say one of my favorites. Some of their best songs are on that album.

Jev 11-13-2005 07:05 AM

RTL is my favourite. The solo on the title track is just amazing.

Doctor Night 11-13-2005 08:04 AM

I'd better start hanging around here more often, now seeing the Zeppelin thread is gone.
RTL to me is one of their best albums, or i should say one of my favorites. Some of their best songs are on that album.
It was the first one I bought, I still think it's their best.
//
I also found out my copy of live Sh!t is American, so the DVD's don't work, which is a real B!tch.

Yeah. the only song im probably not realy into from that album is Escape.
But the rest is all good to me.

It doesnt realyt stand out. Call of ktutlu is an amazing song ( I love instrumentals) . I love when albums finish in long songs.

Aw3someman 11-13-2005 09:15 AM

Call is an awesome song. i agree. but you must admit if escape is compared to most of the metal nowadays it kicks some serious ass

Jev 11-13-2005 10:34 AM

Yeah, Escape's probably the poorest song on RTL for me. All the rest are about equal in awesomeness.

Britton 11-13-2005 06:31 PM

That's my favorite album!
Yeah, I was wondering why Kirk would be slapping his guitar. But I really couldn't tell.
Its so Naive how Jason left Metallica. Lars and Kirk were all for Jay releasing his side project Echobrain but before he could do that Hetfield said you cannot put that record out you must stay loyal to Metallica we are brothers stuggling to keep. Hetfield said he was literally choking Jason I love you!
Jay thought I have being in this band for 15 years for **** sake why the hell not. He had enough of Hetfields controlling and intimidation and literally all the **** he had put up with through the years so he just threw in the towel.
Echobrain released an album a few years back with jasons bass work before joining Canadian Metal band Vovoid. I have no idea were Jay's going nowhere days the soul and heart of Vovoid Piggy R.I.P passed away recently leaving the band at a stand still.

.:Thrasher:. 11-13-2005 08:48 PM

^well if there one of the biggest bands ever well hetfield is gonna be protective over his band members and wouldent want the family breaking up

PepsiMetal 11-13-2005 10:00 PM
