I think I'll start with one of those famous Greatest Hits.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 02-05-2005 09:37 PM

Hello, has anything important gone on in here while I was gone?

slowhand 02-05-2005 09:39 PM

Just bought Pink Floyd's 'Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.'

It's an interesting album. I went in knowing it wouldn't be the Pink Floyd of DSOTM, but it still surprised me how much different the album is from the latter Pink Floyd. I guess that's what happens when someone like Syd is being the guy with all the songs, or most of them.

It's a good album, but I think I preffer 'Wish You Were Here' more.

Badmoon 02-05-2005 09:40 PM
Nope. You were talking about the Byrds, and you asked how they broke up. You googled the answer and waited to see if someone knew it.
Well, The Byrd's could not have broken up due to one of Crosby's off hand remarks. Because I'm pretty sure that Crosby left during the 60's and never came back. And they of course broke up during '73, therefore he couldn't have really played a role in the breakup.

True, but I'm sure they reached their peak with Crosby at their side.

BludgeonySteve 02-05-2005 10:17 PM

Leaving was the best thing he ever did. Because CSN(Y) pwnz0orz The Byrds :)

Badmoon 02-05-2005 10:19 PM

I'm listening to Shakedown Street :D. How could allmusic.com give that album two stars? There is at least six 5/5 songs featured.

Stagger Lee > All of them

I recommend you all download Robert Hunter's (Garcia's Co-writer) version, entitled "Delia DeLyon and Stagger Lee".

Plus, The Byrds were more unique without him.

Did you discover this while you were away?

Badmoon 02-05-2005 10:25 PM

We should make a chat.

I think their "essential album"(the greatest hits thing) is actually really good.

PATGOD can really grow on you though. Be careful or else you'll end up listening to Interstellar Overdrive all the time.

Haha, I think ANGUS YOUNG 13's neg rep actually increased my rep total.

I'd agree, I'm not a big fan of greatest hits and how they've taken of the world along with singles and hits with the new easy to download tracks and burnable cd's. To be quite honest I think they're just another step in to massacreing music in to pretty much anything that flows and is within the limits of my particular social group is pure gold. When in reality it's a shallow, simple, boring, formulaic, unoriginal, unemotional heap of flaming shit that's been done a million times before.

However the Simon and Garfunkle greatest hits is failry well done and fairly large, so it's one of the few greatest hits that has done a decent job.

It was funny because you said "I'd agree", then went off for a paragraph about how greatest hits are a sign of the apocolypse, then added at the end that the Simon and Garkfunkle one was good.

ultimaterocker 02-05-2005 10:44 PM

any people out there like the band C.C.R

Ya, hehe. I just wanted to present my theory to everyone else. I find there are few people I can trust to reccomend good music, everyone and their mother is reccomending these gods that will blow your mind. And yet it has nothing special about it at all. If you can make a 3 minute song that flows (easiest thing in the world, honestly, try it, it's beyond easy, really, pick a few white keys on your piano, play them in 4/4 time, you win) people will love it, they will become completely consumed by it. Mind you they'll move on to a new fad rather quickly.

I hate it.

wanton 02-05-2005 10:55 PM

CCR consistently put out enjoyable music, how could you not like them?

Woodstock 02-05-2005 10:56 PM

If anyone dislikes CCR, please make yourself present. We want to kill you.

lunch998 02-05-2005 10:57 PM

The only thing is that there songs all sound the same. That means they're all great though.

Illmatic 02-05-2005 11:00 PM

What?

I'll disagree with you, lunch.

Woodstock 02-05-2005 11:01 PM
What?

It's better than your lunch disagreeing with you.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 02-05-2005 11:01 PM

Favorite CCR song?

Mine would be Bad Moon Rising.

Badmoon 02-05-2005 11:03 PM

What is Aqualung exactly about?

My favorite CCR song is "Lookin' Out My Backdoor".

Zing!...kinda...not really.

My favorite is probably Fortunate Son. Can't go wrong with anti-war messages.
