Shining - Grindstone
I've only listened once through, but it doesn't have the immediate impact of In the Kingdom of Kitsch... But I have no doubt that it will be growing on me with subsequent listens.
When is/was this released? I loved Kingdom of Kitsch.

ATM 02-08-2007 07:33 AM

pretty good ep

asymm 02-08-2007 08:35 AM
When is/was this released? I loved Kingdom of Kitsch.
It's brand new, but isn't yet available in the US. Forced Exposure.com should have it ready to purchase within a couple weeks. Typically I wait to buy my Rune Grammofon releases, but I decided I couldn't wait those extra few weeks this time.

New Dino J leaked.

downloading now with excitement.

Sepstrup 02-08-2007 11:38 AM

Been digging a lot of soul essentials. Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, James Carr and Solomon Burke. Cool stuff.

Also, I need to make some money and go on a Built to Spill purchase spree. The two albums I have are incredible (Keep it Like a Secret and Perfect From Now On). Which albums should I pick up next?

Bummer.

Bukowski 02-08-2007 03:46 PM

Boon/Watt are better.

Swans - Cop
Maximillian Colby - Discography

The new Dinosaur Jr has leaked, btw. First track is pretty damn good, about to listen to the rest.
There's Nothing Wrong With Love is the only good one.
it's not even A good one, let alone the only good one!

and speaking of Dino Jr. AND good guitar/bass duos, Mascis/Barlow wins

Zmev 02-08-2007 04:42 PM

Yes - Close to the Edge

I can never finish this. Damn Siberian Khatru sucking in comparison to Close to the Edge and And You And I

Montana 02-08-2007 05:16 PM

Ghost Mice - Europe

whaaat perfect from now on is so good

i mean come on... randy described eternity? hell yeah.

i think the first four songs are what make the album for me, theyre all great

the only full albums ive got are perfect... and there's nothing.... ive been meaning to get the others for a while. are there any other than ancient melodies and keep it... ? ancient melodies was on album trading a while ago but it expired before i got around to it :upset:

The Smiths - Meat is Murder

there is no better guitar/bass team than Marr and Rourke.
Try just about every guitar/bass team.

Oh. perriwinkle shut up.

Kyle 02-08-2007 07:56 PM

New Dino J is pretty tight. It was never gonna be Bug or YLAOM, but it's still got some great tracks. J Mascis excels once again in the solo department.

asymm 02-08-2007 08:00 PM

Shining - Grindstone
Greg Davis & Sebastian Roux - Paquet Surprise
William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops I
Squarepusher - Go Plastic

Zebra 02-08-2007 08:32 PM

Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway

It's been at least a month since I've last listened to this. There's some great stuff here, especially the last three tracks but I still don't see why it's so highly regarded around here.

3.5/5

Robert Crumb 02-08-2007 11:35 PM
Dinosaur Jr. - Beyond

Catchy stuff. Glad they went back to their old fuzzed-out ways. The songwriting isn't as distinctive as it is on YLAOM or Bug, and there isn't as much personality, but it's better than I expected it to be.
On first listen, pretty much my take, too. The first Barlow song sucks, but he sort manages to save face with "Lightning Bulb." And Mascis is J.

perriwinkle 02-08-2007 11:38 PM

oxes - oxxxes

anyone listen to these guys?
they are sweet as hell

sorta like don cab but crazier

Zmev 02-08-2007 11:40 PM

Tangerine Dream - Canyon Dreams

Pleasant.

Assuming they're the same band I think they are, I saw them play once with a bunch of similar minded bands. Not really my bag, but it's fun to watch live.

NP: Tom Ze - Todos os Olhos

Little Man being Erased 02-09-2007 12:31 AM

The Shins - Wincing the Night Away

A lot better than I expected. Probably as good as the previous stuff.

br3ad_man 02-09-2007 07:45 AM

Tom Waits - Closing Time

I'm in a bad mood. This helps.
