Ello guys. I always hear on MX how MX got them into the music they like, and well, I don't know a lot of music. I love Metallica, particularly ...And Justice For All. Apart from the entire Metallica library, I don't really listen to much else. A bit of Opeth, a bit of Dream Theatre, a bit of System of a Down, A bit of Led Zep. I prefer heavy bands, but I don't mind mellow stuff. Anyone wanna help me out?

Edit: Almost forgot, check out Dillenger Escape Plan
Didn't know whether to add the DEP into the examples of bands I was looking for, as they have a slightly different sound I felt. Will give Glass Casket a look into as the drumming was recorded by a member from Glass Casket wasn't it? Really like the drumming on that record. |

I think the drummer and bassist from Glass Casket are now playing for Between the Buried and Me (Alaska). The band in general sounds like BtBaM with less clean parts. |
I'm going to play some Paintball today and need some music that really makes you want to kill people....music with a lot of rage.
|
Hey guys looking for some reccommendationd for Bling Guardian, Pink Floyd (apart from the obvious ones) and something similar to COB.

For Blind Guardian try Nightfall in Middle earth or Imaginations from the other side.
Something similar to Childeren try Kalmah - They will return. |

Rage Against the Machine. |
So I've really been getting into stuff like early Pink Floyd, Rubber Soul/Revolver Beatles, the Velvet Underground, and electric Bob Dylan lately. I was wondering if there were any other bands with that similar 1965-1970 "vibe" that these bands have.
I hope you understand the style I'm going for- kind of Psychedelic, kind of Bluesy, weird lyrics, not necessarily great vocals, but something that makes it instantly recognizable. I was just wondering if there's anything similar to that kind of sound. I know it sounds kind of picky, but I've really been digging that kind of not over-produced, raw bluesy/psychedelic/almost progressive stuff lately, and was hoping I could delve deeper into that kind of a subgenre of rock. |
Hey I already listen to:
Metallica Megadeth Black Sabbath Iron Maiden Black Sabbath Black Label Society ACDC The Misfits I am just looking to broden my musical experiance |
Hey I already listen to:
Metallica Megadeth Black Sabbath Iron Maiden Black Sabbath Black Label Society ACDC The Misfits I am just looking to broden my musical experiance
My top recommendations would have to be: Savatage Anthrax Candlemass Blind Guardian Dungeon Also, later tonight I'm putting up a thread on Mercyful Fate which I'm taking this time right now to whore to anyone who appreciates classic metal bands. |
Erm, maybe Tom Waits? He's a singer/songwriter from the '80s, but I think he fits what you're talking about quite well. Get Rain Dogs if you're looking for an album recommendation. Maybe The Moody Blues as well, although they're more proto-prog (to use my new favourite genre). Other than that, I'd suggest
King Crimson Television
Yeah, I have "In the Court of the Crimson King" and I totally love that album. I haven't heard Television yet, I'll check them out. I'll also be sure to check out some Mr. Bungle and some Tom Waits. I've listened to quite a bit of the Moody Blues, and I like 'em when I can get past the talking thing they do on alot of the songs, otherwise I really dig them. Any other suggestions? |
Can someone recommend me a couple of good songs that would fit a depressed mood (emo lolzorz)? Similiar to To Bid You Farewell would be nice.
And while I'm at it, some 80's sounding Power Ballads, similiar to Whitesnake - Here I Go Again On My Own. Thanks. |
