This thread is proof that Against Me! will never die.

I'm seeing them in three days. I hope for a good setlist.

The chances aren't good. It seems on their recent tour its been almost entirely songs from New Wave. When I saw them "Pints Of Guinness" was the only early song they played (kind of disappointing). |

That sucks for you, because when they played in Toronto they played Pints on Guinness, Walking is Still Honest, Baby, I'm an Anarchist, Rice and Bread, TSR, and Sink Florida Sink. Plus probably a couple from from ATEC that I can't remember. Only about 4 or 5 songs were from New Wave. |
They still play Baby I'm an Anarchist?! Weird, last 2 times I've seen them they haven't played it, although they did play Disco Before the Breakdown one of those

Yeah, they rarely ever play it anymore, I was really surprised when they went into it. |
I am inferior.

They played Baby I'm An Anarchist as encores both times I saw them. And We Laugh at Danger and What We Worked For just the first.
Only about 4 or 5 songs were from New Wave.
They played all of New Wave except Piss and Vinegar and Animal I'm pretty sure. Does anyone know if they ever play Politics of Starving or Jordan's First Choice Live? I've never heard of them playing those. |
dunno, i love jordans first choice though. i was super stoked about baby i'm an anarchist even if it was electric.

Good article on the band's recent history:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/thenation/20070928/cm_thenation/20071015gottlieb_1 Everything they are doing doesn't bother me..its just funny that they expect no one would call them on their shit. They are touring in a big bus now when buses used to be for "bands with a lot of fucking egos". |
That was a really good article. I think it's sad that the band that made RAR doesn't exist anymore but to harbor resentment against them (ha) is pointless. I got pretty pissed for awhile but I'm over it. I do wish they'd be awesome again, but whatever.
|
yesterday in utrecht (holland) they played a very good setlist:
pints of guinness, cliche, axl rose, rice and bread, sink florida sink unprotected sex, from her lips, problems, don't loose thouch and a couple of new wave songs, it sounds alot better live than on cd though after the encore they played TSR, walking is still honest and baby i'm an anarchist the reaction of the crowd to the old songs was much better including myself, i guess thats why they played some old songs at the end it was great |

Yeah me too. But I predict they'll continue to go downhill from here on. |

Hmm, now I think about it, you're right. |
Any one heard ben lees cover of new wave. Its pretty bad IMO
|
Yeah its kind of bad.
|
i liked it other than the vocals were kind of shitty. who is ben lee anyway?
|
Australian guy.
I only listened to it once but didn't care for it much. |
I kinda liked it. You know, given what he has to work with.

Anyone who cares to listen can pretty much get the whole story from their music, 'unprotected sex with multiple partners' basically says why they switched to a major label and to me kind of hints at an intent to revert back to their old selves when its all over, this is just so that they can indeed go on making music. I dont know if you anyone here has ever been in a touring band but i can only imagine how tough it is to make **** meet, especially playing in 'churches and laundromats'. i feel its kinda justified as long as it stays credible, intelligent and continues to question things. |
Against Me! has one girl song on all of their albums.

I wouldn't care if they hadn't stressed the DIY thing so far. However, I do think it's a shame, and just because of it some people are over looking a pretty decent album too. Whatever, tom has lied in interviews before. |
Whatever, tom has lied in interviews before.
Go on? |
1) Said that they got free food at KFC because Colonel Sanders had a relative die of starvation, so they were obligated to give out free food.
2) Said that they got trapped on an elevator while on tour in Canada when that really happened to Adam from Bombs over providence. There's an interview with Adam, i'll look for it. What a silly thing to fib about.. |
"Hey guys I'm Tom Gabel as you can see I live a hard life, which includes getting free food and standing in an elevator."
|
Those are some pretty offensive lies. Whats next? He drank a margarita out of paris hilton's ear when it was really Witney houstan's ear?
|
It's spelled Houston you could find it on any world map if you weren't against art you Philistine.
|
Ha, yeah. Sorry, I don't buy Elle magazine to read about her and Booby Brown to know how to spell her name. Where do you go to subscribe again?
|
The only magazine Whitney Houston would be in anymore is the National Inquirer.
|
Bazing!
tom has lied in interviews before.
i love it when people take AM! interviews seriously, cause ive only seen them make jokes and lies. (that wasnt insulting you or anything, im just makin a gen statement) |
I find that hard to believe.
|
To start off, please tell me the names of who is answering these questions and what you do in the band.
My name is Tom, I play guitar and sing. PSYCHE |

And to Kevin: that was a funny post. I'll give you that much credit. |
A couple dudes on VLV have an insane amount of AM! records.
|
I saw Against Me! last night. It was actually really really good. Only thing I didn't really enjoy was when they played "The Ocean". That song is not really good and it is very boring during a great fast live show to listen to such a song.
We Laugh At Danger (And Break All The Rules) at the end was amazing. Plus they played TSR which is one of my favorites. I got to talk to both Andrew and Warren after the show, and they seemed pretty nice. |
They play Ocean a lot as a closer before the encore, and sometimes they drag it out a bit but I think it's one of the better songs on New Wave.
|
I think it might be the worst IMO.
|
Nah. Animal, Borne on the FM Waves, and Stop! are all worse in my opinion.
|
I like Borne on the FM Waves. maybe that's just because I related closely with it when it came out. Animal and Ocean are pretty terrible though
