The Fiction We Live 08-09-2005 09:22 PM

They're well built from what I've read. A lot of owners are very happy with them. Check out their site for more info if you haven't.

stabbinspaghetti 08-09-2005 09:25 PM

yeah i did....seem....overpriced, i mean if you want them to be wrapped or anything, the money racks up....i dunno, i still like them though

The Fiction We Live 08-09-2005 09:29 PM

Phattie is one of the cheaper custom companies.

stabbinspaghetti 08-09-2005 09:36 PM

yeah i know, but im cheap, hahahaha, oh yeah back to the point, im poor, which means i wont be getting anything anytime soon, but they are reasonable, just still expensive...but i mean, its drums, they arent cheap

The Fiction We Live 08-09-2005 09:40 PM

I think Conaway is a bit cheaper than Phattie.

Scroll down for some kit prices.
The free Staind concert was frigin awesome.

I saw tons of boobies.

I was in some crazy pits.

A dude kicked me in the face while crowd surfing- that kind of hurt.

A hot chick wearing a mini-skirt went crowd surfing, the view was wonderful.

Staind rocks much harder than I thought they did.
^Yeah, I just bought their new album, "Chapter 5", and it's quite a bit harder then their previous ones. I like it. Melodic rock kicks ***

poppinfresh 08-09-2005 11:15 PM

hehe all my neighbors have unsecured wireless conections.

The one on grandville and 7th. I'm assuming you're from vancouver too, so what about you?

Jezen 08-10-2005 03:52 AM

Guys, is it worth the effort to trade my DW 4002 for a Sonor 492S? (both doubles).

Voodoo Rabbit 08-10-2005 04:16 AM

Both are equally good in my opinon....
If you really want to change the pedals, do it....

*That was of absolutely no help - Sorry!*

Jezen 08-10-2005 04:21 AM

I dunno, I just think to myself, "Could Lang do the stuff he does on a DW 4002?"

Voodoo Rabbit 08-10-2005 04:25 AM

Maybe he's just used to the feel of the Sonor pedal. But I expect, if he was told to sit at a kit (with some other brand of pedal) and play something, he would be equally impressive....

Double Bass Jim 08-10-2005 04:31 AM
"Could Lang do the stuff he does on a DW 4002?"
Easily.

Jezen 08-10-2005 04:32 AM

But should I change? I hate my 4002.

Voodoo Rabbit 08-10-2005 04:35 AM

Get the sonor then....
If your unhappy with your equipment, and you get a chance to change it, I'd say do so....Just so long as you don't waste money or stuff....
If you don't you may be kicking yourself later....

Jezen 08-10-2005 04:46 AM

My Rhyhthm course booking has been confirmed. I will be studying with Mike Mangini from the 20th till the 27th.

Well he's not the only one I hang with. I also got:

Steve Alexander
Pete Zeldman
Bob Armstrong
Drumbassadors (holy crap!)
Ian Thomas
Lawrence Cottle
Pete Riley
Colin Woolway

And of course THE Mike Mangini!

Sponsors include: Pearl, Mapex, Zildjian, Paiste, Remo, Yamaha, Beyer Dynamic, and Bath Spa University College.

Gawd dayum im a lucky fucker!

Josiah 08-10-2005 08:06 AM

Haha that'll be fun stuff.

I fear however you will not gain nearly as much as you think out of it. If you don't understand why Lang could very EASILY do the stuff he does on a 4002, you have much to learn about basic technique. Mike's not going to be able to show you anything more then any other instructor will.

Jezen 08-10-2005 08:10 AM

Oh come on Josiah, its not that. You know what I meant. 4002's are very cumbersome. Are the Sonors the same, or lighter?

Josiah 08-10-2005 08:23 AM

The Sonor's are prob lighter because they are more expensive, better built etc.. it still doesn't matter for players of that caliber.

Actually, it wouldn't matter to me either.

You should be able to sit down at any kit, with any pedal and be able to play "at level". That is technique.

On another note.. today or tomorrow.. today or tomorrow.. prob tomorrow.. but I want it today. Darn waiting sucks!

I hate you...

And the drumbassadors rule. I saw a gig of them in a small bar in Antwerp a few years ago. That was actually one of their first gigs, they just started coming out then. These guys are REALLY cool. Fun stuff to watch also.

Jezen 08-10-2005 08:42 AM

Ok, ill rephrase what I said.

Would Lang feel more comfortable doing his thing on a Sonor or 4002.

My guess is the Sonor, disregarding the fact hes been using them for years.

Josiah 08-10-2005 10:02 AM

To be honest..

After 15 seconds he prob would forget what pedal his feet were on. That is the case with most players of profeciency.

While I don't play like Lang, it doesn't matter to me. My personal choice is that, and sure it's nice to have the secruity of mind that your equipment is yours, you know it, it won't break, etc..

But I sit down on all kinds of sets, with all kinds of pedals and different settings. I just play, I don't bother to think about "Oh this pedal feels a lil rougher". It just doesn't really matter.

Jezen 08-10-2005 10:31 AM

Your not helping. Your basically saying I shouldn't feel a difference between a PDP 402 and a DW 9002.

poppinfresh 08-10-2005 10:33 AM

no hes saying that you should be able to play the smae things on all kinds of pedals. like the way you can play the same rudiments at the same speeds on all snares. hes saying its in the feet not the pedal. I think lang made a good point of this at his clinic.

Josiah 08-10-2005 10:35 AM

^Exactly

You should never need a particular model pedal to help you play better.

Most of the reason for buying high end pedals is reliability. All that crap about bearings, smoothness, adjustablity.. that's the minor issues releated to purchase. Most companies however realize, and market towards the "medium and lower" drummers who are unaware or have not realized, or simply have not progressed in their drumming maturity to understand that the equipment really doesn't matter that much.

Jezen 08-10-2005 10:36 AM

I know! Omfg.

My pedal is not restricting me from playing to my ability, I just want one that is more comfortable!

I know what you're saying, but I can definitely say that I play much better on my Tama IC then say: a tapa HP10, or a low line pearl or yamaha pedal. Maybe just my technique isn't good enough yet, but thats what I've found.

poppinfresh 08-10-2005 10:38 AM

Hello Mason,

Thanks for choosing Tama!! Without actually seeing/evaluating your pedal, it is hard to say if the problem warrants replacement or repair. What we recommend is calling our customer service dept. to receive a Return Authorization Number in order to send your pedal back to our facilites. Here, we can repair or replace any defective parts under warranty (as long as your pedal is still under the 1-year factory warranty period).
You can reach our customer service department @ 1-800-669-4226 and choose option #3 for sales and service. NOTE: Do not send anything back to Tama without a Return Authorization Number.

Thanks
Customer Service

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have been summoned by the demons.

i hope they speak english.

poppinfresh 08-10-2005 10:39 AM

i can play better on a pacific piece o crap double pedal than on my iron cobras. i can play cleaner and a lot more precisly.

stabbinspaghetti 08-10-2005 10:41 AM

why doesnt everyone just stop arguing over something pointless.....i say go for the sonor....if it feels more comfy, then get it, its all personal pref

Well then nobody here can help you with that. That's a personal choice that changes with everybody. You'll just have to try out different pedals and choose the one you find most comfertable.

Personally, "comfort" is one of the few words I would associate with a kick pedal myself..

Poppin hahaha... HAHAHAHA Welcome to Tama Customer Service. Or lack there of.

Yeah.. you might as well get a new pedal instead of dealing with Tama...I've heard stories.

Fight4UrRight2Party 08-10-2005 11:00 AM

Yea, there are many horror stories associated with the "Tama's"... LOL

poppinfresh 08-10-2005 11:11 AM

stabbinspaghetti 08-10-2005 11:13 AM

Josiah 08-10-2005 11:14 AM

Oh I can tell you what will happen.

Nothing.

Yup, I think I got it. I should start a pyschic network.
