Here's a quote from an interview with Paul Gray that I found interesting:
It's the perfect time for this record to come out. The fans have been waiting, and this whole genre needs a good kick in the teeth. It definitely needs a kick in the teeth. It went from rap-metal to, "Hey, I'm an emo kid with a lame haircut and skinny jeans" [Laughs]. These days, it seems like everybody listened to At The Drive-In and decided that they were going to be in a metal band at the same time. Every ****ing band's doing that. I love death metal, and I love black metal. I won't say anything bad about that ****. As far as bands in our scene, I haven't bought a new record in a long time. I listen to my old Slayer records or my old David Bowie records. Of the newer bands that are out, I can't think of many that I'm into. I think Job for a Cowboy ****ing rules. Those dudes are pretty awesome. I liked Behemoth's last record. It's weird because Slipknot's at the level now where it became cool not to like Slipknot. We got a little bit of backlash. Kids that are 16 or 17 will say we're "Nu Metal." These kids try to tell me what true metal is when I was at the ****in' Powerslave concert in 1984. They weren't even born yet! [Laughs] I don't care. Dude, I know metal. I'm 36-years-old, I've been in metal bands for 23 years. I was doing Metallica and Slayer covers when I was 13. I've paid my dues, and I've paid my respects to the metal gods for that ****. I'm not going to be told by some teenybopper mother****er that we're "Mall metal" when I know what the **** we're doing. People can say whatever they want, but when we play, we're playing in front of 20,000 people every night. Slipknot's bigger than ever. I'm so ****ing proud and happy to be in this band. I'm so thankful for the fans that have stuck by us through all these years. We have the most loyal fans in the world, and we're gaining new ones every day. If any detractors can do it better, they should start a band and write a record, man. I'll buy it from them [Laughs].
source:http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/news/article/0,,4758219,00.html |
Paul Gray always feels like the guy without a face in that band. Good to hear him finally have something to say even if parts of that quote were pretty stupid.
The part about the Powerslave concert was pretty awesome though.
Gray was awesome on MFKR, it's a shame he never plays out anymore. |
MFKR is almost too awful for words though
it's like the bad parts of colors
That was a good interview.
The album sounds good so far, I haven't heard the whole thing but I'll probably listen to it on the way home from work. |
i didn't even know it had leaked.
Yeah I stumbled upon it yesterday, it suprised me.
the new album is good, but i wish they would progress more.
I'm still unsure about the new album. It will probably grow on me. I love Gehenna for some reason though.
Mmm, to download or not to download...
Paul Gray always feels like the guy without a face in that band. Good to hear him finally have something to say even if parts of that quote were pretty stupid.
Ha, if you check out the Inside the 9 interview with him (on youtube or whatever), his personality is very much reflected in the way he talks.
The part about the Powerslave concert was pretty awesome though. Gray was awesome on MFKR, it's a shame he never plays out anymore.
The odd thing is that Joey and Paul are the ones who start writing the songs. So yeah, he's holding back for reasons unknown. |
Give it a try, you can always delete it.
Sold.
Bah, it's just a more heavy version of Volume 3. Reminds me a lot of my one experience with Lamb of God - lots of boring filler type riffs, vocals that are flat.
i thought the album was very well done actually, much better than vol. 3
It could stand be a song or two shorter, but overall I was very pleased with it.
i just like it because their finally letting the guitarists show off, i know their talented, they just never get any guitar solos. Lol i got the special edition, if you think the regular album is lone the special edition has 15 tracks.
They definitely had a handful of solos on Volume 3
the problem is that their solos are awful
the album was okay, pretty boring for the most part, nothing really stood out |
I wouldn't say awful, but they're definitely your run-of-the-mill shreddy solos.
I'm much more focused on the riffs and hooks here anyways. |
I listened some more last night and I really like it, its becoming more of a straight metal band and less nu-metal. They might as well get rid of the dj, the sample guy and the two percussionist/vocalist guys, they don't do anything.
to thor, yeah they had solos on vol 3, just nowhere near as much as all hope is gone, and besides all hope is gone is just so much better.
i need to hear this.
if you want it go to www.thepiratebay.org, type in all hope is gone slipknot in the search bar, download it and send it to limewire and you have it.
i need to get this via a site that i've heard of as to not get ridiculous trojans and other hateful things. lol
http://sputnikmusic.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=4

i have no idea what google blog search, explain please if it is in fact better than torrents
Don't tell this kid, if he doesn't know already, and he likes Slipknot he's not worth telling

people post albums on blogs. go to blogsearch.google.com and search for slipknot all hope is gone and you'll find a billion blogs who have links to upload sites with the album for direct download. With broadband it usually takes like 5-20 minutes for most albums to download, its pretty sweet. |
do you have to pay for it though? lol
YES! it costs 100 euros a week!
EINSIEG, why are you so mean?
