Luxor 01-25-2005 08:10 PM
Whoa, you didn't just spell Dream Theater like that, did you?

You're lucky this is only Alt/Indie. They would've had your balls over in R&M.
Who the hell is Dureem Theetor?

Bandaid 01-25-2005 11:28 PM

Tapeworm 01-26-2005 08:01 AM

I just listened to Up the Bracket for the first time and it was ok. There were about 5 songs that I really liked a lot but it was let down by a tonne of crappy slow songs.

Wilco - A Ghost Is Born
^ Underappreciated album. Sure it has flaws and it is isn't YHF, but it contains some extraordinarily emotive guitar work that I just love.

M83 - Before The Dawn Heals Us
^ Still great.

Tomahawk 01-26-2005 09:04 AM

I'm digging Blur right now. I've never really clicked with them before, but I'm listening to Parklife right now, and it's such a good album.

well played sir.

YDload 01-26-2005 01:42 PM

At the Drive-In's "Vaya" EP is possibly their best work. All the songs are great, but I really like the very last one. It would work well as a Sparta song, just from the mood.

x the patient x6 01-26-2005 02:09 PM

i bought Antics by Interpol the other day

its alright, i liked Turn on the Bright Lights better for the most part, but Antics definatly has its moments

Ornery Cephalopod 01-26-2005 04:59 PM

I forgot, and recent remembered, how groovy Friends of Dean Martinez can be.

Tangy zizzle 01-26-2005 06:45 PM

^ Seconded x 10.

I rarely mention that band though, I get selfish with them. Brilliant, brilliant music though.

Such a great album.

YDload 01-27-2005 03:21 PM

OMG OMG OMG OMG!

I am in love with "198d," the last song on ATDI's "Vaya" EP. It's really really good, and now my hype has gone and ruined it for everyone. :(

But I don't care, because now it's all MINE.

Lowend 01-27-2005 04:10 PM

It's not all yours! I've been in love with that song forevah! i play along with the song all the time. the chorus makes that song f*cking amazing.

YDload 01-27-2005 04:14 PM
It's not all yours! I've been in love with that song forevah! i play along with the song all the time. the chorus makes that song f*cking amazing.
Whew, that's an awesome relief. Is that Cedric in your avatar?

I like how the lyrics still don't make much sense, but this time they at least use normal words to somehow create an atmosphere of power and beauty. And Jim screams "Walk away!" underneath the chorus of "Born in hearts/ Etched in cold/ at the first showing."

Good song.

Lowend 01-27-2005 04:20 PM

Yeah, that's Cedric with a little HUE adjustment.

KappaKid17 01-27-2005 04:27 PM

I've been diggin' The Battle of Los Angeles alot lately. Especially "Maria."

I miss RAGE :upset:

Interstate 01-27-2005 04:35 PM

I've been listening to The Hives and The Flaming Lips recently

KappaKid17 01-27-2005 04:58 PM

NOTICE

I'm stopping listening to most other music right now because I was just blown away by Paw Paw Tree by the Fiery Furnaces...

I may be dropping another $15 soon....

Luxor 01-27-2005 05:30 PM

^ Good song.

Sgt._Joker 01-27-2005 07:29 PM

Tangy zizzle 01-27-2005 11:45 PM

Phoenix Foundation are good.

I blasted Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? this arvo', 'twas nice.

Little Man being Erased 01-28-2005 12:04 AM

^ Nice avatar.

I am interested in hearing more of the Unicorns.

EDIT: Oh, it's gone now.

Tangy zizzle 01-28-2005 12:08 AM

It's back again.

Little Man being Erased 01-28-2005 12:12 AM

For a second there, it seemed to be replaced by a set of boobs.

Tangy zizzle 01-28-2005 01:31 AM

Oh 'twas.

Tomahawk 01-28-2005 11:14 AM

Archers of Loaf - Icky Mettle
Camper Van Beethoven - Key Lime Pie
Guided by Voices - Bee Thousand

Been listening to these albums a lot in the past few days, they're all very awesome.

pinkyeti 01-28-2005 01:01 PM

I bought LCD soundsystem recently, good album.
I also enjoyed Wire's "Pink flag" lately.

Happymeal 01-28-2005 08:14 PM

When I go downtown I plan to get a Drive Like Jehu or/and a Hot Snakes album. Dunno when that'll be though. For now I'll stick to Audit in Progress. It didn't blow me away the first time, but I'm growing to like it very much. I want some more rock stuff like this in my life.

Tangy zizzle 01-28-2005 08:53 PM

Haha, baaahhhhh.

br3ad_man 01-29-2005 06:42 AM

I just watched my U2 Slane Castle DVD again. There's this part right at the end of the show, in "With Or Without You", Bono sings his high falsetto parts, then, right when Edge starts the D chord progression, Bono just weakly says "goodnight". That part really touched me. I'm having a bad day and that made it better. So I dug that.

The Ashtray Girl 01-29-2005 09:47 AM

Awesome. So pissed off I'm missing seeing them on their tour in the summer :(

I'm beginning to dig Hot Snakes, even though I'm still not convinced I like them.

Get Yank Crime.

Low - "The Great Destroyer"
^ It's been pretty damn good. While it is a slight departure in tempo, it still sounds very 'Low'. Even with songs that feel fast for them, their are still plenty of slower tempoed songs to counteract and balance this turning-point album. Overall, I think this album is just proof that this group has versatility behind their songs that wasn't fully realized before.

biografiend 01-29-2005 01:45 PM

i need new music to listen to. its been pretty constant with:
the rachels
slowdive
m83
slint
mahavishnu orchestra

*stands up*
*clears throat*
my name is sam and i am addicted to post rock.

Happymeal 01-29-2005 03:12 PM

try Dreamend's As if by Ghosts... They're kinda a mix of post rock, indie and even some shoegazer. Some mp3's here http://www.dreamend.com/music.html

Electrocution 01-29-2005 03:36 PM

Lately I've been listening to:

The Mars Volta (but then again, I always listen to them)
Cursive (again)
Godspeed You Black Emperor!
Smashing Pumpkins
Off Minor
The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower

I am really liking this Godspeed. It's a pity I didn't get into them earlier.

Tangy zizzle 01-29-2005 04:02 PM

Nice.

Happymeal 01-29-2005 04:36 PM

Thanks for the JR Ewing thread a few months ago, Tang. Ride Paranoia is rockin'
