I was recently in North Bay, and I went to a used book store, and I found these two old magazines, one from '87 the other from '86. One was called Thrash Metal and the other Heavy Metal Hot Shots, and I'm wondering if anyone has ever heard of them. I searched around and couldn't find any.
|
uh.. Nope. Buy 'em man! Or did you? How much can a used magazine be?!
|
I bought them obviously 1.70 each, but everything there was cheap, I doubt the'd even know if they were rare. The Thrash Metal one is only the second issue
|
Man, just listened to Slayer's 'Hell Awaits'. This is like their best album.
Indeed it is |
^^^^ I prefer reign in blood, seasons in the abyss and south of heaven than hell awaits.
|
I made a thread about this and only faceinthesky answered me, and i want diferent opinions to buy the ones that more people agreed with.
What are the best 2 or 3 anthrax albums. |
Among the Living and Persistence of Time, for me.
|
State of Euphoria, Persistence of Time and Spreading the Disease :D

Among The Living, Spreading The Disease Persistence of Time
The makers of "Get Thrashed", the upcoming documentary profiling the thrash metal scene of the early Eighties and its impact on the music scene, have announced that the DVD version of the film — due in early 2005 — will feature over an hour of extra footage that will not be seen when "Get Thrashed" airs on cable television this fall. An simultaneous international DVD release is also planned. "We are still working on an international television airing as well but as of right now that is [to be determined]," reads a posting at GetThrashed.com.
As previously reported, filming for "Get Thrashed" was recently completed and the show is currently being edited. Post-production should be completed this fall, with an air date and location to follow soon after. "Get Thrashed", the brainchild of director Rick Ernst, a longtime freelance producer for MTV, will include interviews with METALLICA, SLAYER, ANTHRAX, EXODUS, GODSMACK, DISTURBED, SEVENDUST, TESTAMENT, OVERKILL, DEATH ANGEL, SHADOWS FALL, MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STONE SOUR, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, LAMB OF GOD, VIO-LENCE, KREATOR, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, VOIVOD, CHIMAIRA, BIOHAZARD, FOZZY singer/WWE superstar Chris Jericho, SEPULTURA, KITTIE, THE HAUNTED, D.R.I., SOILWORK, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, HEATHEN, Brian Slagel, Jon & Marsha Zazula, authors Ian Christe ("Sound of the Beast") and Steven Blush ("American Hardcore"), NY metal radio DJ Eddie Trunk, "Radio Rampage"'s Ron Quintana, as well as unsigned thrash bands OSMIUM, CONCRETE COFFIN and VISCID.
Cinemateic release? |
Nonsense. Reign in Blood always has been and always will be Slayer's best, and is the 2nd best thrash album on the planet.
Behind what?
personally, the way I look at is that the songwriting isn't very good on the album, it just kind of seems like all of the songs sound the same, don't get me wrong I love Reign In Blood, but I find Hell Awaits and Haunting The Chapel far more superior albums
That's the idea I think. It's so short - it's a half hour assault and then its over. The songwriting doesn't need to be as varied on Reign in Blood as it would on a double LP (had it been released). I think the additional tracks actually diminish the overall quality of this album: short it was meant to be. Subscribes to the old maxim to keep em wanting more. |
Behind what?
Darkness Descends, I would imagine. |
Doh. Should've read the first page.
Among The Living, Spreading The Disease Persistence of Time
I agree,Among the Living is the Masterpiece,Spreading the Disease is really good, so is persistance of time. All solid albums but I like Spreading the Disease and Among the Living best. :thumb: |

yeah, the best anthrax albums have been with belladonna though the new one isnt too bad. Persistence has some really good songs but i thought it had one or two that just werent as good, you know? |
Cinemateic release?
i dont think its going to be in the cinema :( which sucks but as it says in that post somewhere expect it out about early 2005 |
^^ Why do you always use the ` instead of ' ? Not that it bothers me, but I'm just curious.
´cause I can type but fast that way due to german keyboard layout ;) |
*butt fast...
|
I don't really like Anthrax's older stuff that much with Belladonna. He was a singer, and for Thrash I never thought he really fit. I like Bush a lot more, IMO he's got a much more metal sounding voice.
|
Just bought Coma of Souls today, it kicks major *** and I found 3 Coroner cd's but I didn't know which was the good one..I found RIP, Punishment For Decadence, and No More Color at the Tower Records by my house. Which is the good one?

I liked Joey voice a lot and I totally belive that if every band had a "singer" that could sing like him there would be a lot less crap music |

Those are Coroner's 3 best. If i were you, i'd grab them all. If you can only get one, Punishment For Decadence would suit, as it is the middle release of the three. Plus it is their best over all. |

I agree almost 100%,he's a great singer and I really like what Anthrax did with him in the band etc etc.I do question that if all bands had someone who could actually sing therer would be better music.Point 1-Lots of good influential bands have had ****ty singers, motorhead, megadeth, any other thrash band, etc etc.Point 2- lots of talented singers make ****ty music, christina aguelria(SP?),arethra franklin etc. anyways thats just my 2 cents. |

Hopefully I'll be abel to see this in Australia because I really only have an elementary knowledge of thrash. I'm pretty new to this 'heavy metal' thing :thumb: . |

I always thought Dave Berman of the Silver Jews put it best: "All my favourite singers couldn't sing". ****ing love that quote, but don't rat on Mustaine, his voice is perfect for Megadeth (even though I will say it again, I can't listen to one of their albums without spotting the weak tracks everywhere. Their best rivals the best of all time, but there just isn't enough of it). |
I do like Killing is My Business and Business is good though.
|
I like his "singing" voice he uses on the verses in Peace Sells.
|
whats the point dont tell me

Exactly! No one can tell me that his voice doesn't suit Megadeth's sound, esspecialy on the first few. |
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE have been confirmed as direct support to SLAYER for the upcoming Jagermeister fall tour starting October 13 and running through the end of November, according to Roadrunner Records. Prior to the Jagermeister tour, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE will embark on a headline run, starting August 13 and ending September 25, with special guests FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES as direct support. 18 VISIONS and labelmates 36 CRAZYFISTS will support (36 CRAZYFISTS to open all shows).
Anyone hear like killswitch engaged? i personally cant stand them! |
Argh, they supported anthrax, and I couldn't stand the music. To top things off, their guitarist kept screaming out "YOU LIKE YOU METAL ****ING LOUD!" and "AUSTRALIANS LIKE THEIR ****ING METAL!" ... yeah, you get the point. Proud pricks that cannot play metal.
|
From Autumn to Ashesh and Slayer, sounds like theres gonna be some emo kid smashing on this tour. I think it's going to be my mission to see Slayer at that. Are Tour dates set yet?
