i basically never left the house, and gave up most of my "habbits" to be able to afford what I have. I saw it, and still see it, as the majority of my time spent away from work on the guitar. Anything that you spend that much time using/doing warrants any amount of money IMO

Miek 06-23-2006 02:46 PM

Uhhh, I just got my Laney.

kurrpt 06-23-2006 02:46 PM
just because i have nice gear, doesnt mean im "spoiled" by any stretch of the imagination. I appreciate the things i have in life that are considered nice, but im not attached to these material possessions as you would think.
I'm not implying you're attached to the guitar or w/e, just that you Amerikanskis maybe take musical instruments for granted a bit more than we do, is all. You're spoiled by being able to procure instruments more easily than we can; and as a result, maybe you have less appreciation for those instruments than we do. Or, on the flipside, you (as a group of people, not you specifically, Kurrpt) might not be aware of everything your instrument can do - if you're finding it hard to get a certain sound from an RG fitted with JB/59, you might more easily buy a second RG and fit it with other pups to get the sound you want, rather than spend hours and hours EQ'ing to within .5 decibels.

idk, stereotyping++ and prejudice++. I'm just jealous.

The guitar center near me is even more pathetic. They dont even have Mesas....or any good quality gear for that matter.

Yup thats about all your post contained, i think its a little rediculous to say all that

Nipples 06-23-2006 03:00 PM

Yes, stereotypes, prejudice, and jealousy. We sacrifice other things to have this gear.

Not yet, I got home a little bit ago from work, and am finishing my ice cream. Imma try later.

Same here, or its way over the top. Like a 30,000 dollar strat, and 2 VHTs. but thats about it. Oh, and a lot of PRS' but thats about it.

kurrpt 06-23-2006 03:02 PM

i gotcha mate. Fortunately for me, i was born in a country that has a ton of these companies you speak of right here in the states

Yeah, I wouldn't buy a second RG, I'd sell the first and buy a guitar that I'd actually be happy with it. :p
Seriously, I appreciate my gear because I did work for it, and it is what I want.

SirSpamalot 06-23-2006 03:04 PM

I don't even have a guitar centre so stop complaining

I have to make do with Long&McQuade and Steve's or local shops that don't carry jack

Miek 06-23-2006 03:06 PM

you're better off that way
they're better

all the stuff was trade in actually. I was only in the past 2 weeks did they actually get a NEW mesa in, and they put it RIGHT when you walk in the door. I think its to discourage use or something

if anyones interested, they are selling my old 7 string for 599

Yashnaheen 06-23-2006 03:08 PM

I don't like any shop in the state ive been to. All local stuff, prices are terrible as is selection.

Then again population here is pretty low so they can't really afford to carry a bunch of higher end gear when most peope buy MIM strats and EPIs.

SirSpamalot 06-23-2006 03:09 PM

yeah long&mcquade is pretty decent if not a little weird

and their real nice about letting me try their mesas, which they have quite a decent stock of

steve's salesmen earn by commission, and are, as expected, arrogant pushy jerks if you're not going to buy something

and the local shops if they get something good that's good and they're good about letting you hang out but they never have much selection

Miek 06-23-2006 03:09 PM

I asked you what was going on with it in the classifieds but you never answered, whatd ya get rid of it for?

Nipples 06-23-2006 03:11 PM

A shop near me has a 10 minute rule on amps. WTF.

kurrpt 06-23-2006 03:11 PM

i personally cant stand arrogant pushy jerks in that situation. I worked commission when i worked at radio shack, and yes, they want you to sell everything.

I had a moral problem with convincing someone i knew, or thought, was low income, buying something that is more than they would ever need, and wind up returning it in the near future.

Since ive been on both sides of the fence, i can understand where they are coming from, but being put in that position myself, i dont condone that at all.
