quote for......non-truth?

nickelback have some catchy tunes out their. specifically "animal", and "all the wrong reasons" and..........

they sell a lot of records so they must be writing catchy songs.

and PTH's "Kezia" in 05 (i think 05) was a phenomenal record.

i have not heard the new one yet, just the single, and im not too impressed.
Here's my best Cocaine impression: "The singles that they released was PTH trying to play it safe and releasing music that makes the most sense in the post-Kezia context. The other songs on the album are both far more progressive than and oddly reminiscent of Kezia at the same time."

If I were you I'd listen to the new album with a mindset similar to if you were listening to music from a band that is new to you. PTH has changed a great deal but they retain some of the themes that made Kezia so goddamn lovable (Turn the soonest...-esque sing-a-long parts, for example).

Friday edit: New Cheese and Crackers, Arif talks about animal photographs and Moe got a haircut:

I wasn't serious, I just hate Nickelback that's all. They certainly have a talent for writing songs that all of the conformist zombies will love.

Theres a video on youtube of Nickelback covering Seek and Destroy and Cowboys From Hell live.

But yeah, I figured you were joking, I knew you were smart enough to hate a band and still realize they're talented. It just gets hard to do sometimes with bands like Nickelback.

lol @ some nub kid who gave 1's to every top album except Fortress

Unfortunately it fails at being as truly goddamn lovable. Lacks the fresh and poignant inspiration I see on Kezia. (imo)

Sweet Rody is changing up how he sings some of the vocals for the better in recent live cam videos. Instead of his normal/high singing voice hes doing a slow vibrato with a Danzig'esq(only example i can think of at the moment) style. I'd love to hear that recorded on the next album.

Dimmu Burger 06-28-2008 02:24 PM

I like the high singing voice. A lot of singers do stuff like this cause their voice can't handle doing all of the highs every night on tour. I hope Rody's voice isn't messed up.

Tyler 06-28-2008 03:17 PM

His voice is fine. He probably just switches it up to ease the toll touring takes on your voice.

Dimmu Burger 06-28-2008 04:14 PM

You got a video of this low singing?

...Yeah, okay...

To add to a post a few pages back, I'm not diggin' Moe's new hair cut. He looks awkward to me but whatever, it's not like I see him at all haha. Arif's new do, now that's a cut!

Dimmu Burger 07-03-2008 08:45 AM

The first Cheese and Crackers was ok. I look forward to the next one.

Tyler 07-03-2008 01:16 PM

I wouldn't expect them to be any better, really. The bit with Moe is hilarious though.

Capricious 07-05-2008 04:51 PM

Much Axs has a vid of nardwar interviewing moe and (mostly)rody. I haven't been following this thread for a few months so it might have already been posted pages back.. It was dated june 2nd/08. Sorta funny on the PTH antics scale; a little low on nardwar funny scale though.

and much axs: canada only blah blah

Josh D. 07-05-2008 07:28 PM

I haven't seen much of Moe's face well, but everytime I get a glimpse, all I see is Corey Feldman.

kidthatplaysguitar91 07-08-2008 06:55 PM

Anyone notice the slight lacking of performance for the newer songs? Obviously its harder music to play, but still, shouldn't affect Rody.

Capricious 07-08-2008 09:28 PM

No, fortunately i have been able to see them a handful of times so far in 08 and i didn't see the band lacking in performance. Going beyond the music though, a couple times when their lighting tech seemed to take the show off ie just putting a floodlight against a gymnasium wall, and another time where he was just using a clubs white lights, no effects. Not a huge deal at all but i suppose it might affect 'performance' of the music being received when the fans are not being blinded and disoriented by almost constant strobe lights.

Tyler 07-08-2008 10:28 PM

At times Moe plays things too slow lately, which is a huge change from him formerly playing way, way too fast.

It goes from rody going nuts, and everyone else in the band moving a bit.

To Rody kind of just standing there singing and everyone staring at their instruments.

beans 07-10-2008 01:23 PM

yeah his performances have gotten a bit less energetic nowadays
but i dont know im sure he still goes crazy from time to time

Tyler 07-10-2008 01:27 PM

You guys dont realize how much toll it takes on them. A few years ago, they went apeshit. Like, Arif hanging from the ceiling and Rody being in the crowd a lot. I still remember one gig where Arif threw his bass up and caught it behind his head, but then later he just hit it on the ceiling and it broke (his bass used to break every show; it had at least three full rolls of duct tape on it). That very same gig, Rody started the show swinging the mic around his head and he accidentally beaned one of the security guards (standing side stage) in the face.

beans 07-10-2008 01:31 PM

no i understand it takes a lot for them to get up there and do the same crazy **** every night.
i would have loved to see the look on that security guard's face

Tyler 07-10-2008 01:34 PM

She just laughed it off.

beans 07-10-2008 01:35 PM

oh ****
she?
lol did rody feel bad?

Dimmu Burger 07-10-2008 01:35 PM

I can barely rock out hard for like four songs once a month, let alone like 10 songs every day. Mad props to them and DEP etc for being able to do that.
