That sucks. It's gonna be worth the wait though. I love it. I haven't even checked out the dvd yet.

I responded right after your post that I was going to hold out to actually buy the album, and I've made it this far. Your efforts are appreciated but I'm playing this one straight up. |
I got mine! I got the Limited Edition one with the bonus DVD, which I have yet to watch.
I ripped it into FLAC, then uploaded the torrent to Oink's pink palace. It's been online for just over one and a half hours, and there are already 35 Leechers and counting! I think this will be a very popular album indeed. |
All the reviews I've read look great, I'm really excited to hear it. I tried Borders yesterday but they didn't have it yet, will definitely be getting it tomorrow.

Rolling Stone review 4 of 5 stars:

Oh man it's so good
|
Its pretty good, yeah. i like Mike Post Theme a lot. Better then expected. Black Widows Eyes is somewhat majestic. Nice Pete harmonies. I also like the extended cuts and Mirror Door. I appreciate also that Pete didn't try to hide the flaws so far as Rogers voice. He warbles a bit on Mirrior Door, sounds really gruff on the extended versions of WGOH and EW. All works to great effect. Many of the songs give a "live in the studio" impression.
oh and jeff i read your post at sputnik. the reason the album was rated low is someone went through all the reviews on the front page and rated them 1. they also neg voted on all of them. |
Mike Post Theme rules. The whole Wire and Glass is really good too. The only two I'm not really a fan of are In the Ether (is that Satchmo?) and Tea and Theatre.
|
I must get this album!
|
Indeed. Mike Post Theme is my favorite track on there. I love the lyric "There comes a time in every little punk's life when he has to write a song..."
The track reminds me of Quadrophenia too for some reason.. :/ |
lol
this is from a guy who posts at thewhotour.com and he always does stuff with Who songs. he's a musician. he did a version of Endless Wire the morning the damn album came out. it was pretty good. i'm just going to post his post. its not half bad: What Would We Got A Hit Sound Like With John Playing Bass: Here's my idea of what it'd sound like... http://www.sameerbarua.com/wgah.mp3 Unfortunately my rig is still not set up so I had to play it on a Takamine acoustic bass using weird EQ and distortion settings to attempt to sound like him (I normally have a dead-on setting on my Digitech pedal). While I don't intend to offend other John fans, I attempted to sound as much like him as I could, borrowing most heavily from licks and playing styles in WGFA and Dreaming from the Waist. Comments are welcome!!! -Sameer |
My Generation version from 'Chicago 9-25-2006' where Pete does the vocals
because Roge had to leave the stage. http://youtube.com/watch?v=QejF2P6qHpw |
^thank you for that link. it is excellent. :)
|
God, they messed up so much! :D Pete kept on messing up lyrics toward the end, and the end of the first verse was a measure too long (you can hear the hesitance in the players).
Good stuff though. |
Cool video, great stuff :)

I love Keith.

Where did you go to get it? And how is the new album? I bought it for my dad's birthday tomorrow and I'm wondering if it's worth a good present or not. |
hmmm
I'm not that impressed with the DVD that came with my copy of Endless Wire. It's that Lyons show, but it doesn't really seem like there is much energy between the players. I dunno though, maybe it's just because I'm tired. I just got back from a city a few hours north of me for an open house of a college I might be going to. Looks pretty good, but I have to look at my other options aswell. |
so um hi
|
Has anyone whose been to a show on this tour ordered the CD and/or DVD of their show? I'm totally wanting to do that (just have to get money into my dad's paypal account, I'm too cheap to have my own), but I haven't seen any discussion about it here.
|
Yes. Mine is on it's way. I've ordered the Dual CD and DVD Set.

Seems like Attic Jam was a great show. "Something In The Air" was definately rather unexpected... ****' The gig last night was phenomenal. I opened by playing Cigarettes and Housework and then Pete joined me for Sunrise. Then Mikey performed Plasticine, i joined him for You, and Pete and Simon joined in on Misery. Then Simon played Comeback, Scaffolding and Sexchange. Minnie Driver then performed Everything in my Pocket, Sorry Baby, and Pete and I joined her for Fast as you Can. Pete then performed Greyhound Girl, Endless Wire, Blue, Red and Grey, Marty Robbins, Lets See Action and I joined him for In The Ether. Then E from EELS played a killer set, i dont know the names of some of the first songs (will find out), but performed Jeanies Diary, Flyswatter, Pete joined him for Its a Mother****er, i then joined them for Birds, and then he and Pete finished with Let my love open the door and The kids are alright. Billy Corgan then played 4 new songs, and Pete and i joined him for Something in the Air by Thunderclap Newman, i played Kazoo, see photo. haha. I then sang Jigsaw with Pete and finished with Blue by Joni Mitchell which i dedicated to Linda McCartney. I can't really describe how special the evening was. Mikeys set was brilliant - his best yet. Simon was very energetic and jumped around a lot! Scaffolding is beautiful, and i had never heard it before. Minnie Driver kicks ***. I told her to keep at it, its difficult for actors/actresses to crossover, but she's a great artist and should be heard. Petes set was beautiful. He played the new songs with real passion. I love hearing him perform like this, stripped down, bare. The Who are of course brilliant, this is totally different - up close. E was HILARIOUS, and performed as he does. He's a genius. Billy hadnt played a live show for a long time, over a year. He was nervous - i like that, it shows real humility as an artist of his calibre. His set was mind-****ingly brilliant and his humour dry and incredibly funny. What an evening - i felt honoured to have been part of it. RachelF.xx p.s. the chicago attic jam has sold out! please let me know which of you got tix? ******* |
shh don't tell anyone but it's me jeff
>_> i feel like a fugative. THEY'VE BANNED ALL OF MY ACCOUNTS <_< /slips back into the shadows |
That sucks ...
NP - Doctor Jimmy :) |
/is back now
|
don't worry jeff you are always safe here in the stronghold. JimJam, lol....they can't reach you 'round these parts. as for myself i took a bit of a break from the thread after the show on the 5th. still plenty of Who stuff to get to, but with the release of the new album and then the show (thoughts on which are coming later) it just felt like the right time to exhale a bit and gain some perspective on the band once again. i'll be back more and more. glad to see you folks are still here. hope everyone doesn't go away once the tour is over and stuff :(
|
I just ordered the Portland show (finally  ) but I guess it doesn't matter that i order it this late since its availble tomorrow. Should be awesome.
