The Gibson Dirty Finger pickup, is also a strong pickup too. It's just that the guitar is hollow, so it won't have a crunchier sound than the Strat.
Tom has announced he will be releasing a solo album by the end of the year. Good one, Blink fanboys
great
tom is easily the best song writer in the band

i get ya now.... it really doesnt particulary alter the sound..... but the strat was more a fun joke guitar which suited blinks image but now toms gone like serios... with his gibson

a fun joke guitar ????!!!!

MattSharpIsCool 07-16-2005 07:03 PM

Tom's strat had a less professional feel to it. Thats what he meant. The new Gibson is all "look at me I'm serious and I mean business"

Get what I'm saying?

But good players wouldn't exactly use Tom's Strat. That had 1 pickup, not so good clean sound and had no variations. But I loved that guitar with the distortion.

10571z 07-16-2005 07:31 PM

this thread is actually starting to get more people posting now its cool!!!

jcxstargazer 07-16-2005 07:42 PM

I prefer the strat, it has more flexibility to it (cant think of a better word than flexibility at the minute)

Untitled 07-16-2005 07:45 PM

I prefer the look of the strat, i like the tone of the gibson.

MattSharpIsCool 07-16-2005 07:54 PM

I think I agree with Butler.

The Strat looked cooler, but the sound on that Gibson is just so dang pretty.

I don't know, Mark wrote some of their best songs, like "Apple Shampoo" and "Lemmings" not to mention others.

You mean variety? Well if that's what you meant, it can't be. There is only one pickup and produces one type of sound.

Including the all time favorite ****it. But from what I know from BCR, Tom does write awesome songs.

MattSharpIsCool 07-16-2005 08:50 PM

Mark seems to be better at writing pop songs, while Tom is good at writing the more "meaningful" songs.

its kinda more twangy but the biggest thing is that super awesome (i think) marhsall half stack, im 90% sure it s a mrashal that thing is so sweet but jsut reminds me how much money i dont have haha and then i see tom with like 5 them all in a row next to each other and i drool and hope i too one day will be able to afford 5 very super awesome and expensive half stacks

true, but i must admit i love the party song, also dont you think its possible that mark write alot of the songs and then tom sings them because when they practice it turns out toms voice better suits the song. i think i heard something about mark getting angry that tom got all the credit for most of the songs, mark even wrote some guitar riffs for some of the songs. but tom most likely does right most of the deeper songs

Tom uses a 2x Mesa-Boogie Cabinets for distorted sound and 1x Marshall JCM 900 (or something) for clean. The sound is rad. :thumb:

Erm, I don't really know anything about guitars, so I'm gonna sound stupid, but what one is the big brown and white guitar Tom plays? Sorry but I don't know how to distinguish the different makes. :upset:

i dunno i believe the strat was better for there genre. songs like rock show, all the small things and stuff sound better on the strat as it gives more pop sounds. with less heavy distoricain

10571z 07-17-2005 02:39 AM
we are gathered here today to discuss something that has been hardly noticed in blink history and hasnt been mentioned of by any members of blink themselves (not that i've seen or heard anyway)....i am talking about their untitled 1993 demo. I downloaded the demo and i must say that it is awesome, and is for any old-school blink fan or any blink fan PERIOD and has surprisingly good quality!! This demo contains early versions of 'my pet sally' and 'degenerate' and has 3 other songs not released anywhere else!! These songs are 'untitled', 'better days' (very much the demos highlight) and another 'untitled' song (an awesome song to end the demo). What i do know of this demo is that it was only handed out to only friends and family, and very very few copies were made... i havent seen a picture of the demo and would appreciate it if someone emailed me the pics!! Anyone that knows anything about the demo can have their say in this thread..Thanks.. Heres the tracklist!! (these songs are different than any other versions you may have heard on buddha or flyswatter..)

1. Marlboro man
2. Time
3. TV
4. Degenerate
5. Untitled (not from dude ranch!)
6. Better Days
7. Sometimes
8. Point of View
9. Romeo & Rebecca
10. My Pet Sally
11. Reebok Commercial
12. Untitled (a different song and again not from dude ranch!)

(anyone with pics email to 'no_authority__@hotmail.com') thanks again!
I know. The Strat does fit the band's sound better.

But the TONE on "Always" during the chorus. Holy crap I love it.

If he means verity, i think he may mean the standard models. The strat usualy has 3 pickups, and gibson 2.

10571z 07-17-2005 03:34 AM

the guitar tone for always is crappy but the pre chorus is cool

plaidbassbilly 07-17-2005 04:29 AM

I love it in Always how the bass sounds...although I find it really hard to play myself :upset:
