It's half one in the morning and I just finished a Chemistry coursework :(

Sleepy time for me.

Aes820 03-16-2006 06:29 PM

This is kind of odd...

Might want to be on the safe side and 'log out' before visiting tho.

i just witnessed a man lip-up 19 halfsteps on a piccilo trumpet. Then proceed to play "America The Beautiful" on one breath without circulatory breathing at 96bmp(about 45secs)
I say again: I have seen my god

WindowLedge 03-17-2006 08:51 PM

is that even possible?

the lipups, I mean. never played a piccolo trumpet, but wouldn't you need something more along the lines of a french horn to do that?

Diatonic Dissonance™ 03-17-2006 09:37 PM

Sup all?

kevbud187 03-18-2006 12:36 PM

Is basically like you lip up from one partial so far that it becomes an equivalent note to the next partial and you lip slur seemlessly. repeat. It's a benny goodman song and I've also watched a video of someone do this on a rotary trumpet.

They = :cool:

kevbud187 03-18-2006 12:38 PM

oh ya and some people use the assistance of a tuning slide, but they are wimps. lol.

Trigger_003 03-18-2006 09:20 PM

Tuning slides are okay for trombones though... aren't they?

Man, holidays suck.
From the perspective that my parents always manage to find some issue they want resolved and ban me from friends/guitar/computer until it has been worked out. This time it's about me not being able to hang out with a good mate of mine any more because of one crass blog entry they stumbled across.
/is down at the moment... again.

bluefire 03-18-2006 10:02 PM

lol sounds like im not the only one whose hating the holidays, don't they just give you the sh'its some times

Voxnego free tube plugin = really awesome.

Mispeled 03-19-2006 06:04 PM

Since I've sort of started posting on this board I might as well introduce myself a bit... I'm Mispeled, I play guitar (as a hobby) and French horn (in three ensambles). I also know how to play piano (I took lessons when I was a little kid for around 4 or 5 years). Not in any bands at the moment.

I play both acoustic and electric guitar (though lately mostly electric), and play some rock and some smooth jazz and jazz fusion. My rig consists of a 1980s (maybe 70s, not sure) Epiphone Olympic into a Peavey 150 Special, the effects I use primarily are a Zoom 503 Amp Simulator and Boss GE-7 EQ pedal.

For recording I go from my guitar into the Zoom 503 into my Mac, where I use Apple's Garageband for mixing, synthesized back-up instrumentation, and some effects that my Zoom doesn't have (bitcrusher, stereo tremelo, stereo reverb, and a few other things).

oXSundayDriveXo 03-19-2006 07:09 PM

Hey this is kinda of topic but i need help mm kinda trying to find an audio recording program that can change up a voice a little like make it sound smoother and clearer than an original voice because i play acoustic and sing and im not too great of a singer i dont know stuff about notes i kinda cant afford vocal lessons yet(jobless) so im just trying to find something to make it sound better thru software any help?

Invicta_Veritas 03-19-2006 10:24 PM

I don't know if there are any death metal fans in here or anything, but My band kinda needs some feedback on two songs from our demo, and a new instrumental from our upcoming album.... if anybody cares to check it out, it's at http://www.myspace.com/forthisibleed ........any advice or suggestions would be appreciated......we've had some mixed criticism and are looking for specific feedback, esp. on the vocals.......

kevbud187 03-19-2006 11:45 PM

i hate people who spam.(read the location)(lol)

Atomic Rain 03-20-2006 09:58 AM

hello, mispeled.

KKKKKocaine 03-21-2006 06:15 AM

Wooh! I've finished the recordings, up until the point where the vocalist decides he wants me to change something.

Hey Mispeled, welcome to the forum :thumb:

thickasabrick 03-21-2006 06:19 PM

Hello everybody! I didn't want to make an entire thread just for this one question, so I'm asking here:

Would a Peavey Escort (portable PA system) be suitable to use as a monitor speaker system for mixing and mastering my home recordings?

I'm using a Tascam analog 8-track Portastudio, and I'm not focused on everything sounding perfectly clean and professional....I just want to be able to mix my amateur recordings and have them sound the way I intend. I just don't want to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on professional quality monitors if my Peavey PA system will do the job at least half-decently. Once again, I'm not aiming for totally professional sound.

peavey.com shows the specs and all that on the Escort, just in case that makes a difference. Thanks in advance.
Would a Peavey Escort (portable PA system) be suitable to use as a monitor speaker system for mixing and mastering my home recordings?
Mixing - yes, but with very limited results... probably only slightly better than hifi speakers

Mastering - don't even go there.

zackr 03-23-2006 01:33 AM

Hi all, I'm a web designer from Australia - I have been playing trombone for 12 years, and been doing a bit of singing on the side too... I'm 20 years old and am currently studying a degree in IT.

I just signed up here so I can't post a thread yet, but i was wondering if you guys could tell me what you think of the little jam [external link] I made and placed there.

It's a bit of (weird) beat boxing, some semi-scat singing and improv, a bit of a trom bass line, and a trom improv solo. I'd really like it if you could tell me what you think it's lacking (I THINK I know what's wrong with it...). It'd be interesting if you could give me some advice. I'm planning to do something later, but this is my first try with Cool edit pro and also the first time I've actually used the multitrack feature properly! I must say though that the interface was quite intuitive so it took me next to no time - only time taken up in recording and editing.

It's actually not meant to be serious at all, being a first try and all, so please be gentle!

Diatonic Dissonance™ 03-23-2006 03:26 AM

Big night last night fellas.

Left home at 6pm and got back at 7:30am!
Hi all, I'm a web designer from Australia
Ahh cool.
Another one.

Well. I don't design. I do a little designing, but not really.
I mostly just take what has already been designed and piece it together for a web platform.
A very fun job.

Hello.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 03-23-2006 03:47 AM

Aw Chris I thought you'd be proud of me :(.

Aes820 03-23-2006 04:46 AM

It's a nice feeling getting home when the sun comes up. For sure.
But I'll be proud when your big nights go on to turn into big days as well.

Diatonic Dissonance™ 03-23-2006 05:36 AM

Hahaha, I accept your challenge.

I hate to be a bother, but could you (or anyone) explain how exactly do I listen to your song? I clicked the link, downloaded the song, played the song, but I got no noise. My speakers work fine as I've been listening to music all night, but I've never used that site that you linked to and maybe there's something I don't know about. Your song sounds interesting by your description so I really do wish I could hear it!

edit - On further inspection, something might be messed up with the volume control or speakers on my comp. Don't mind me.

Trigger_003 03-23-2006 10:32 PM

Well done Gav. No strange outfit this time?
Ahh cool.

Haha, beauty.

And another trombonist!
How's it going Zackr? What state are you in?

So AYB has been invited to play at the farewell to the Games parade, and all the other stuff went awesomely. Well, except for my dad and my friend's (the one who I was talking about earlier in the week - who they were banning me from) dad confronting each other with his dad almost looking as though he was going to hit mine - me sees this right as I'm heading out to perform at Fed Square. Ah well.

Just found out we're also doing on-court entertainment at the Davis Cup too!

Haha, I have no idea where my holidays went.

Nah :(.

'Cause it was an actual party as opposed to me just being woken up by my bro/friends :p.

I was wearing jeans, my fav shirt and my friend's jacket.

I'll type up about it a bit later.
