LaBrie must get pretty board when they're developing new albums aswell as he only writes about one song per album.

Crudd-Bucket™ 07-31-2005 03:12 AM

He isn't experienced with any instument is he?

jpshortstuff 07-31-2005 03:18 AM
He isn't experienced with any instument is he?
it does say on Live@Budokan: James LaBrie - Vocals and Percussion. which is apparently a hand shaker

mprules 07-31-2005 03:36 AM

jpshortstuff 07-31-2005 03:41 AM
i heard he used to play drums...

I love this band and I love this album. I just have a question about the story in the album. I know the basic general story, but at the end on Finally Free, they have the CNN report part in the background and then the hypnotist says "open your eyes Nicholas" and Nicholas yells. What the hell is that about? i really don't understand what happens there. IF someone is nice enough would you care to type out the entire story in detail in case I'm missing something?
In quotation of this which was a thread, that should have come here first, i think it's a shitey end to an ace album, i have no clue what it's about.

The psychiatrist is Edward Baynes revived in the present, just as Nicholas is Victoria revived. So, as in the past (Beyond This Life and earlier in Finally Free) 'Edward' kills 'Victoria' at the end when Nicholas yells.

Yeah, but doesn't he have a solo thing going?

I never knew that. hah

/Brought Awake and 6DOIT today.

Only FII and SFAM to complete my CD and DVD discography for DT.

hallowed_ironmaiden 08-01-2005 01:00 PM

I just have SFAM and change of... in order to complete mine. Also have to get one more live cd

vashts80 08-01-2005 06:02 PM

Yes, LaBrie has his solo band as well as doing percussion stuff for the DT albums like the hand shaker thing (he uses this on Finally Free during Portnoy's drum solo, I believe, as one example)

But how did you find that out? There aren't any hints in the album that I can see.....

Welcome to the Intraweb.

bwnstl 08-01-2005 11:48 PM

It looks like I don't need to welcome you to being a condescending jerk off, as you're quite formidable with it already. I asked a simple ****ing question. Yes, I know that one of the band members have probably said that is how it ends, or they have it on a F.A.Q. or whatever. My question is, if someone only had access to the album itself, how would they know that. Knkxthx

MAthiAS 08-01-2005 11:53 PM

Lol, welcome to MX, I answer a question albeit sardonically, and receive a lame attempt at preachery.

2805712 08-02-2005 12:13 AM

I have heard a lot about them but don't own any of their cd's yet could someone give me a link maybe?

bwnstl 08-02-2005 01:15 AM

You didn't answer jack ****, maybe you should read your post again. And I wasn't preaching anything, I was simply telling you what a twat you are for making a useless post to make fun of me for asking a question.

mprules 08-02-2005 01:23 AM

how about you both shut the **** up

Chu 08-02-2005 02:34 AM

Aparrantly Dave Mustaine will be playing with Dream Theater in Dallas? If anyone has heard anything about this, could they post the source? Some guy said it was on the Megadeth site, but I couldn't find anything about it... :p

This probably belongs in the Megadeth thread, but meh, it's about Dream Theater too!!!
Tomorrow night in Dallas I am supposed to play a song with Dream Theater on behalf of Darryl. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I have fun since I have never jammed with another band like this. Wish me luck!
Holy ****, that's so pro....

I asked a genuine question, kthx

Chu 08-03-2005 02:35 AM
After DT ended their set, they came back out and started Cemetery Gates. James sang most of it. Russell Allen sang one of the more aggressive parts, as did the singer from Fear Factory. Mustaine came out and played the final solo. Anyway, it was amazing, but you'll all see it eventually as there were several cameramen on stage.
Awesome.

GenuineImitation 08-03-2005 10:12 AM

Does anyone know their set list for Gigantor.

MAthiAS 08-03-2005 10:13 AM

Crap that Cemetery Gates jam sounds amazing

I wish I could see it live.

Chu 08-03-2005 05:26 PM

Meh, just think 'Gigantour DVD' :)

GenuineImitation 08-03-2005 07:22 PM
Meh, just think 'Gigantour DVD' :)
That would be cool. Im sure they would put the Cemetery Gates performance on it.

MAthiAS 08-03-2005 07:25 PM

There will be one, its already been announced I think.

Chu 08-03-2005 07:40 PM

Yeah, it has.
Either way there were Video cameras at the performance, so if it doesn't come on the DVD, a bootleg is coming for sure.

enim 08-03-2005 10:49 PM

Ok, i found this sound file on my computer, before a Different Strings (live) bootleg. could someone identify the different riffs in the first 50 or so seconds.
